I'm basically just trying to find a nice recycle bubbler and 8-14" barrel rig (still haven't quite decided on which size..) I currently have a foot long bong with a roor down stem, and dome nail attachment which drags enough when not filled with water and ice. Now I just want a nice balanced amount of priming and clearing without too much drag (I don't foresee any of them having any drag I can't handle though). In case anyone's wondering why I have so many thick tubed picks for the rigs with (both legit and possible or potential) ice catchers, it's because I really love having the option of having a smooth cool hit some days; either way, I'm trying to find out which ones may look like they have too much splash/diffusion/percolation/flavor loss. And of course which ones may appear to be just pure junk. Any help or other recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!

My experience with smaller recyclers like this have not been very good. It recycles okay but if you pull just a little too hard the water will creep up the mouthpiece and end up in your mouth. I bought 2 or 3 of these a few months back and used each one a few times and then decided there are much better options out there and they have since been sold to others. I honestly think there are better recyclers out there for not much more that function a lot better (like some of the ones on DHgate).

I have this one as well. I don't like it and I do not recommend buying it. I am trying to sell it to get something different. The water level is extremely sensitive. If you want it to recycle you have to set it a little above the perc, but then you get water in your mouth about 90% of the time. If you don't want water in your mouth you have to put the water just right above the perc and then it doesn't recycler

The layer cake found at the link below is much better. I only get water in my mouth like 5% of the time if that.

I haven't used this exact piece but it does look like it would function well. It looks a little big for a rig (about 12 inches tall, 30 cm), but if you want a big rig this will be a good one. I would still recommend this one over the others above (besides the layer cake, that little guy is awesome). I posted some links of larger rigs like this one at the bottom of the post.

I have a double honeycomb to turbine 16" that I really like. It has a lot of diffusion, just like this single honeycomb to turbine will, so it will take away some of the flavor. It will stack nicely though and if you pull hard enough you should get a tornado action from the turbine.

Actually that would be the one in the TOP picture by itself. The one in the bottom picture connected to the other pieces looks to be the Grav Labs one that Lotus sells. It doesn't have that wide mouthpiece that the Chinese one has.

Here is a pic of the one that arrived Friday from Lotus.

It looks like the grav lab j handle, I'm no expert though $:\$ One difference between the GL and the others is the height of the mouthpiece, it's a good bit higher when the GoG is pointng straight down.

Yeah it does look like the GL is higher like you are saying.

The mouthpiece tip is different but the overall mouthpiece stem is much higher than the joint and it looks like it would pair very well with an ash catcher with a 90 degree male joint. It looks like the j-hook would stay very close to the ash catcher which should help maintain its center of gravity, thus preventing it from becoming heavy on one side and tipping over. But don't quote me on that

I will verify the D020 is a great travel bubbler. I'm in hilton head and brought my solo and cloud+ but only my D020 to pair with them. Both are performing flawlessly through the little bubbler and with the use of 2 claisens I'm able to hook up the cloud+ and the D020 without inverting the cloud. Pure cloudiness at the beach is only for the room! :wave:

I have this skinny long one I love that was $11.00 at the local smoke shop.
I bought 5 more so I should have 8.

and my friend just got his GB-187, and it is very nice! nice weighty feel and good base, joints are decent, no bubbles on glass, mouthpiece & percs are straight, diffuses & bubbles very nicely and it just feels like a great piece of glass aka fake matrix ion! if i was fussy, there are 3 minor factory scratches measuring around 2-3mm each near the top that i had to strain at a certain angle to see. at once, i regretted not ordering it when he did. but it's not too late

Now as for the domeless TI, I have yet to even try metal on glass, let alone a domeless; I know it's all by preference, but would you say a quartz domeless (like http://www.ioffer.com/i/18mm-slider-bowl-quartz-domeless-bho-clear-571989190 or http://www.ioffer.com/i/domeless-quartz-nail-fr-oil-rig-glass-bubbler-no-bong-560994236) would be better than a titanium or ceramic? So far I've simply using a glass 14mm w/ dome with an adapter add-on to my 12" vase bong. Drags a bit when it's not filled enough and takes away a good amount of flavor. I was also planning on getting some of the quintuple refined butane along with a nicer torch than my little newport (might go all the way and get a GT8000).

BoogerMan, you mentioned how your 16" even has some flavor loss in it, which makes me wonder what the effect will be with the double percolation in Kathy's piece. I'm not sure if for my larger 11-14" piece whether I'd rather have a piece with more or less diffusion; however, I think I've definitely narrowed it down to:

The question is: Where to draw the line with example products such as these when it comes to diffusing and glass on vapor contact. I'm 26 and I've been hitting bongs for a long time; I love flavor, but I also smoke kretek (clove) cigs. As a result, hella drag from bongs can be a shitty obstacle, but I feel there's a way for me to safely invest in a few pieces that have enjoyable flavor without much drag. On a side note, I'm also curious if that's an ice catcher I'm seeing at the base of the mouth piece tube (I just love adding ice, old habits die hard).

So I'm not sure whether I'm going to get one of each of those choices listed above, but what I do know for sure is I'm going to be grabbing one of these 4-6" bubblers that kathy has- they look pretty damn nice, and for a great price! here's the few I've been looking at:

I only vaporize at home.
I could not get it to work?

Here are some pictures of my GB189 having a bath plus some bonus commentary about the new cleaning plugs I'm using that were made by @Ratchett (I think it's ok to cross post like this?)

The mouthpiece was a little bit big but the plugs fit. With twisting it did seal. I was concerned that it would be tough to remove, but the material is VERY spongy flexible, so you can squeeze and grab and twist it without too much trouble, even when just a little bit is sticking out to grab.

It of course fits more easily in the 18mm female joint seen below. In this closeup you can see the grainyness of the plug. While the appearance I don't mind, these things burr and I have to peel little bits off which is really not ideal, so I do endorse your polishing the molds to smooth them out, I don't think it will hurt the grip as they are so soft and pliable.

I shook this piece upside down and it didn't leak at all. Functionally the plugs are very good quality, easy to handle and use, I can see them being very useful for PBW soaks as well. Their best feature IMO is their pliability, they are not rigid at all like rubber plugs. The hairy bits and loose threads are the chief complaint. All in all a good product almost there. Some PBW enthusiasts may have interest in this if you fit a hole through it for forced water hosing, maybe someone with more knowledge of that could comment.

@ma0u here are some of my thoughts.
Lets start with the nail.

Domeless is nice because no glass dome is being used that could break if dropped.

A dome with a quartz or titanium nail is also good.

Dome vs domeless is honestly preference. I still use both but I would say I use domeless more.

If you are worried about putting titanium on glass you don't have too much to worry about. I have never cracked any of my glass pieces. Once the titanium nail just slightly starts glowing red in one spot I stop heating and let it cool for a few seconds and then use it. You can also throw a glass on glass adapter over your male joint on the rig to protect the male joint.

My preference for flavor:
1) ceramic
2) titanium
3) quartz/glass
*note: if you season a new quartz nail 3-5 times with some bad oil before using it I would say quartz is on par with titanium.

My preference for durability:
1) titanium
2) quartz/ceramic
3) glass

Quartz, ceramic, and glass nails will all crack eventually. So don't pay a lot for them.

However for titanium you need to be a little more self conscious from where you buy. Yeah you can get grade 2 titanium for cheap from china but I don't recommend it. Stick with brand name like highly educated or Silika or ti power or dab essentials or vapenwiser. If you have a budget go with new-vape.com or look at the seller of new-vape products on eBay.
Search this on eBay to get that sellers listings of the new-vape titanium nails.

Their titanium is cheaper than brand name because they are a new name company but their titanium is very pure and it comes with a test certificate showing its purity

I have a mix of titanium, ceramic, and quartz nails. I use all three regularly so if you can afford all three (about $15 for quartz, $18 for ceramic, and $30-$40 for a new-vape titanium nail) you should get them all

As far as a torch goes the GT8000 is great but a little expensive. About twice the price as my Newport cigar torch I got on eBay for $30 and it is great. No problems with it so far and I've had it for about a year now.
You can just search Newport torch on eBay and a bunch of colors will come up. Get one that looks like this though. It is the one I have and I'm very happy with it.

As far as glass goes anything with 2 or more percs will result in flavor loss but cooler vapor. It is all personal preference. For concentrates I usually stick with one perc rigs but I do own a few double perc rigs that I use all the time. I would get one single perc rig and one double so you have both

Out of the GB-197 and Kathy's big seller I would go with Kathy's because it is clear. I'm not a big fan of color in my glass and that's why lol. Both are good Larger dab rigs though. These both would be great for vapor too if you have a vaporizer.

I would pick the double barrel recycler JH012 over the GB-194 any day. I don't have the 194 yet, should be here this week, so I am a little biased but I can tell you I use my JH012 everyday and when my friends are over that's the one that gets used the most.
Also notice the 194 is a female joint and will need an adapter to use any female joint nails you buy.

I wouldn't recommend using ice with concentrates. Don't quote me on this but I think that the ice would cool and harden the concentrate vapor which would cause the vapor to get stuck to the ice and therefore would result in some lost vapor and sticky ice cubes lol

I was told by a few pros to even use warm water in your rig because it allows the vapor to travel through the water more easily thus resulting in more vapor in your lungs

but cooler vapor is easier to handle so if that's what you need then throw ice in that rig!!
Don't get me wrong I love ice when I use my volcano or solo but I stay clear of ice with concentrates. Just my preference.

Any of the rigs posted here or in my previous post for you will not have hardly any drag at all so your lungs will be good!

I use the mini cake all the time with my 10mm new-vape domeless nail. my friend actually liked it so much he orded that same setup yesterday lol. However, when I owned that mini recycler it never got used. Hitman originally designed the mini cake so that should tell you something

Hitman definitely didn't design that mini recycler.

While I don't have that exact AC, I do have an 11 arm with a base and a 45° male that I have attached to a jhook. It diffuses well and I actually turned it into an oil rig because, even those there are 11 arms, it only bubbles from the top slits on a normal draw and has less diffusion than you'd think so it works for that. Not ideal, but I don't use concentrates too often. A major plus with using these with a Jhook, it gets the hotness away from your face when you are dabbing or torching a lotus.

Agree on the ice thing. Ice will cause the concentrate vapor to condense quicker and you will lose a lot of material to reclaim on the glass. As a matter of fact some people like Dave Goldstein suggest using room temp or even warm water to prevent this even more (important with a frit).

Dome vs domeless is honestly preference. I still use both but I would say I use domeless more.

If you are worried about putting titanium on glass you don't have too much to worry about. I have never cracked any of my glass pieces. Once the titanium nail just slightly starts glowing red in one spot I stop heating and let it cool for a few seconds and then use it. You can also throw a glass on glass adapter over your male joint on the rig to protect the male joint.

My preference for flavor:
1) ceramic
2) titanium
3) quartz/glass
*note: if you season a new quartz nail 3-5 times with some bad oil before using it I would say quartz is on par with titanium.

Quartz, ceramic, and glass nails will all crack eventually. So don't pay a lot for them.

However for titanium you need to be a little more self conscious from where you buy. Yeah you can get grade 2 titanium for cheap from china but I don't recommend it. Stick with brand name like highly educated or Silika or ti power or dab essentials or vapenwiser. If you have a budget go with new-vape.com or look at the seller of new-vape products on eBay.
Search this on eBay to get that sellers listings of the new-vape titanium nails.

Their titanium is cheaper than brand name because they are a new name company but their titanium is very pure and it comes with a test certificate showing its purity

I have a mix of titanium, ceramic, and quartz nails. I use all three regularly so if you can afford all three (about $15 for quartz, $18 for ceramic, and $30-$40 for a new-vape titanium nail) you should get them all

As far as a torch goes the GT8000 is great but a little expensive. About twice the price as my Newport cigar torch I got on eBay for $30 and it is great. No problems with it so far and I've had it for about a year now.
You can just search Newport torch on eBay and a bunch of colors will come up. Get one that looks like this though. It is the one I have and I'm very happy with it.

As far as glass goes anything with 2 or more percs will result in flavor loss but cooler vapor. It is all personal preference. For concentrates I usually stick with one perc rigs but I do own a few double perc rigs that I use all the time. I would get one single perc rig and one double so you have both

Out of the GB-197 and Kathy's big seller I would go with Kathy's because it is clear. I'm not a big fan of color in my glass and that's why lol. Both are good Larger dab rigs though. These both would be great for vapor too if you have a vaporizer.

I would pick the double barrel recycler JH012 over the GB-194 any day. I don't have the 194 yet, should be here this week, so I am a little biased but I can tell you I use my JH012 everyday and when my friends are over that's the one that gets used the most.
Also notice the 194 is a female joint and will need an adapter to use any female joint nails you buy.

I wouldn't recommend using ice with concentrates. Don't quote me on this but I think that the ice would cool and harden the concentrate vapor which would cause the vapor to get stuck to the ice and therefore would result in some lost vapor and sticky ice cubes lol I was told by a few pros to even use warm water in your rig because it allows the vapor to travel through the water more easily thus resulting in more vapor in your lungs but cooler vapor is easier to handle so if that's what you need then throw ice in that rig!!
Don't get me wrong I love ice when I use my volcano or solo but I stay clear of ice with concentrates. Just my preference.

Any of the rigs posted here or in my previous post for you will not have hardly any drag at all so your lungs will be good!

I use the mini cake all the time with my 10mm new-vape domeless nail. my friend actually liked it so much he orded that same setup yesterday lol. However, when I owned that mini recycler it never got used. Hitman originally designed the mini cake so that should tell you something Hitman definitely didn't design that mini recycler.

It diffuses well and I actually turned it into an oil rig because, even those there are 11 arms, it only bubbles from the top slits on a normal draw and has less diffusion than you'd think so it works for that. Not ideal, but I don't use concentrates too often. A major plus with using these with a Jhook, it gets the hotness away from your face when you are dabbing or torching a lotus.
