My Solo stems all have the original screens.
My Cleaning ritual for the Solo stems does not involve removing the screens.
If I had to, I might just replace them.

Vitolo, would you mind sharing your Solo screen cleaning technique, please

Surely... I have a ritual, that depends on how far gone the stems are.
The "shake" technique is easiest with original stems, as they have no cuts in the end...
but even if they have cuts, I can fit the tip of my pinky against it and seal it well enough for the job.

Have ready:
1 long q-tip (like doctor uses or stereo cleaning guys use)
tall pill bottle (for soaking in case you are really gummed up bad)
Bottle of 91% Iso.
Hot water at tap, running and ready.

If VERY bad, I stick the stem bowl side down in the pill bottle of Iso to soak for a bit.
If Normal I just begin...

Finger closing the bowl end, I fill stem with Iso.
I keep the bowl end downward over the sink.
I seal both ends, and shake... never removing thumb from the mouth end, so, I retain Iso in stem.
Every time the bowl area is full of dirty Iso (but continually clearing), I remove finger and let that amount of Iso drop into sink. DO NOT forget that the thumb always stays to keep the tube full of Iso.
Repeat this move until tube is empty, and look into the screen end and see if you want to repeat the procedure. ( Hot water is coming too, so no need to be perfect.)
If you choose, while the tube is full of alcohol (or empty) you can use that qtip to swab the sides.
When done, I always put 1 drop of dish soap in my stem, and fill it with hot water.... shake.... and then rinse well with the running hot water. Stand upright in a safe spot that is padded to dry.

The fact that I always keep all fluid moving in the direction of the bowl keeps the screen immaculate.
I assume that your screens are wedged in place well.
If this is the case this process is easy.

received my ssv today, after playing around with it all night I much prefer using this at home when I'm alone compaired to my volcano.
Three friends came over last night,we used the ssv for a bit then switched to my three foot bags on the volcano just for convenience sake.

I can see this quickly becoming my goto when at home

I'm just about to pull the trigger on the SSV & making a shopping list for the various bits I will need for my setup.

The section I'm not sure about is how best join the 29.2mm cone on the pre-cooler to the mouth piece.

The part I've used below(see red arrow) narrows a bit too much on the hose side for my liking, I'm wondering If I can just jam the SSV hose inside the 29.2mm cone on the pre-cooler basically turning the cone into a socket.

What's the external diameter of the SSV hose?

Which leads me to my second thought, rather than using the 7thFloor 18mm hose/bong adapter maybe the hose could be jammed into the reducer(18.8mm-->29.2mm) or even directly into the 29.2mm socket on the pre-cooler instead?

The trouble with these hose/glass adapters is the glass being fitted inside the hose which chokes the throughput of air in the hose, of course this is all theory I've not actually tried to see if there is noticeable drag.

Thoughts?

"The ssv tubing has an outer diameter of 3/8"

I just googled your sentence.

I'm not totally following what you are trying to do,
but the ssv tubing makes a perfect seal with a 14mm ground glass opening.
So you could then put the hose in a 18-14mm reducer bushing.

Well, google is probably wrong:) either that or 7thFloor is ...which is why I'm asking people on here that have physical access to the hose in question.

Which part is unclear?

Do you mean where the hose joins the wand? ..that not the part I'm worried about, have another look at the pic in my LP or do you mean something else?

Wow the possibilities, now I have to think about it all again :D

If you get some 3/8" ID, 1/2" OD silicone tubing, it will be even more flexible to fit around things and you can roll the ends up, effectively doubling the size of the outer diameter so it might actually fit into the female 18.8mm -> 29.2mm adapter, skipping one more adapter.

Have you thought about just going much bigger, fitting the hose around the SSV wand instead of inside.

Do you mean turn the end of the tube back on itself like rolling up a shirt sleeve?

Great idea, I might have to buy the bits for both methods to see which is best.

Always in a state of confusion and silliness♀
I have said in many threads that the ssv tubing is 1/2" and the no2 tubing is 1/4" for future reference. Now saying that it is cause I am usa and I don't do fractions of fractions or metric . Tis all close enough in my head. I agree with getting softer tubing but the ssv tubing is not so hard to work with. I have had worse. My fav is planetvape tubing which I think is the same as mcmasters. I got it from them so I can get small amounts in many sizes for playing.

Hey all, sorry to derail violently off topic ,but I'm a second away from pulling the trigger on a SSV and I have a few quick questions and I'm too anxious to blast through the 200 pages. I'm still stuck between standard, ground glass, and spherical as far as heater styles go, any real quick thoughts? Also I was wondering if anyone has experience with vapor tamers? Just discovered this contraption and it looks unbelievable. Thanks all, any contribution even a smart ass reply is greatly appreciated.

I went with the standard. I really like it, it gives dense hits. I later bought a spherical heater cover/whip but went back to the standard. Vapor tamers are cool, I had one for awhile, but didnt get used a whole lot. I would recommend a waterpipe of some sort instead personally, much more convenient and versatile, because you can use it at room temp. If you want cold vapor, just put ice in it.

I've used the standard (not spherical) ground glass setup the most over the years, I would say it's the most foolproof. It can also be made to be quite efficient depending on where you set the screen. I like to use the ssv in kind of "hands-free" mode sometimes and it accommodates that.

I do like the regular standard as well, and have never tried the spherical setup.

Standard is the cheapest options, and I do recommend you have a back-up wand and HC at least.

Standard will let you use the Vaporbrothers Mini wand or just about any other wand like glass out there. And IMO it's the best wand to work with my Screen Mod in my signature.

They are all fun, so just go with one for now and when you get that itch again, order a different HC/Wand combo. They also offer some nice looking custom glass over at 7th floor.

I just want to note how good 7thfloor's customer service is,I ordered my ssv with a custom heater cover and they forgot to include it with my vaporizer.

Well within 7 hours of me emailing my problem, they have already responded apologizing for everything.
And they sent me a tracking number for my package that's now in the mail..

Top notch company,top notch product

Edit- also after trying the ssv through a bong last night, this is definitely my fav way to medicate at home.

Is that hose as elastic as it looks in the pic or did you do something special to enlarge the end for the wand?

Silicone hose is just that elastic. Like I mentioned, this is even smaller hose than stock SSV, 5/16th" Inner Diameter.

It took a bit of force to get it to stretch like that and wanted to slide back off, partly because I didn't bother to clean the whip or wand before trying. But once I shove it on the distance you see, it stuck.

Re the screens, its not really a concern i can get pipe screens 2$ for 5 at the local tobacconist that i just cut to size, its just interesting thats the screens get so much build up, my extreme q never did, i just save mine for a future iso wash.

Anyway i have a theory that i recently discovered, i noticed my tube often kinks when im vaping, and what i also noticed is that this slows down the draw speed of the air through the bud, increasing its vaporization . I stated to pinch the tube on purpose and have been able to take some great huge hits. especially towards the end of bowls.

anyway try it out it!
