I just moved to the eGo-T from the joye 510 and what a difference. Plus I am hoping my atty wont crap out as fast.

Just watch what you put in there. I feed mine PG juice only. It also doesn't like really sweet juice or dark/colored juice.

Family pic! Provari on the left, GLV2 on the right. Don't think I'll need any more PVs for awhile. The Provari is great! The adjustable voltage makes it so that I will never have an 'incompatible' atty or carto. The GLV2 is the 5v version. However, I run it with two 3v LiFePO4 batts instead of two 3.7v Li-Ion. This gives me between 3.9-4.2v. This is the range that I use most, even with the Provari (its usually set to 4v). Gives me the best all around flavor using 2.2ohm attys. I chose 2.2 as my standard since I can get them locally. I'm just lucky that I was able to figure out a way to get the GLV into the sweet spot for voltage. Otherwise I would've ended up selling it :/

i'm so depressed...I don't have two sets of batteries any more

and since a set of four rechargeable AA's costs about the same as Li-ion batteries I think I might switch...be a lot lighter

saw they're using switching regulators now to be more efficient:

Nice pair there Prof !!

I had Jay resistor my GLV cap for 4.5v under load on fresh batts as I too found 5v a lil harsh on my 510 atty's. But had the v1 and waiting for baby to come so Jay can get to making up another headcap for me since I've wrecked the one I had.

NEXT on my list is one of those ProVari's after being teased by a friend with one who came over to show off, lol.

Still enjoying my GLV-mini & FistPack the most, and only dripping when possible while using Boge510 Catomizers when driving (or my VapeMate if I'm up to chancing a flood here and there hehe).

I really like the looks of that Provari, but aren't most of these devices just adjustable batteries in essence? The thing I don't like about them is that you still have to use whatever atty/carto is available instead of coming with it's own durable atty and tank.

Does anyone know if the Provari is compatible with the MAP Tank Mod btw?

Most of the mods can be used with anything you just need adapters. Many of the newer adapters are "stealth" so you can barely tell there is an adapter on there.
Map Tanks come in 510 and 808 fittings last I checked.....2 very common ones. So yes they will work on the Provari and most other mods as well.

If the end caps were black Prof, I'd be all over it for spares for mine.

GL with the sale... I'm sure somebody will quickly grab it up with Jay's "warranty goes with the device" stance.

I really like my eGo-T. I've read that a lot of people that use both prefer their GoGo, has anyone tried one of these? I love the taste of my eGo-T but it does get a burnt taste after a while.

ROFL!!! If you already have a ProVari there is not much room to go up Prof...unless you buy the Darwin.

If you are a non nicotine person you should absolutely try some DIY ejuice. Stuff is really cheap to make DIY especially if you don't need the most expensive ingredient...nicotine.

I have used a gazillion juices/flavorings over my nearly 2 years vaping. I have settled into using mostly all natural flavorings. I like LorAnn's NATURAL banana, it is my weakness. Also Fairies Finest makes some nice all natural flavorings (also some artificial ones as well lol).

You can get VG at most health food stores or pharmacies. Can get PG locally at Tractor Supply places or feed stores or order online from Essential Wholesale.

Hi Lo, I got and messed with my first mod setup and it's my current favorite ecig and was not expensive.
It's this -
http://www.hoosierecigsupply.com/E-Power-From-Smok-Tech-and-HECS-HEC010.htm
I liked it out of the box but I like it much better after I took off the atomizer cover and replaced the stock 510 atty and my own drip tip with a Cisco 306LR which is my favorite atty by far.
The battery is powerful enough to drive the LR atty and the construction and design of the mod is, I think, pretty impressive for such an inexpensive and complete mod kit.
Puffing back and forth with the ego type batteries and a hello battery, this bests them all.

I just received the new B-type cylindrical shaped atty with the bigger tank for the Ego-T. Man, this thing is a beast! Unbelievable how much more vapor this thing gives in just a small light hit, I don't even want to try the LR version of this one. I have even lowered the nicotine dosage for it because you take in a lot more so easy. It says the tank now holds 1.8ml, but it looks more like 2.2 to me. Gonna have to measure that on the next refill, might take me a while to empty it though

to correct something i said before, i have been vaping at 8.8 watts, not 10 or 11 (voltage drop under load brought me down to 4.5 volts), and i want something lighter than my brick of double-A's now

so i cut open an old laptop battery and received six 18650's for FREEEEEE

so how to make six budget vapes for me & sister's family...?

well, this prototype made me think i was on to a good idea, but my family won't even look at it, something about it being a syringe...are some things just not socially acceptable as pipes?

this is not the design I'm going with but wanted to share...it's as cheap as you can get

RS switch $3
901 atty $12 w/bat conn

pot scrubber for (+) connector, rivet for (-) connector, plunger for bottom plug, slit on side to remove tight battery, atty held on with "whip tubing"

"i am an embassador of ghetto vapes"

PS: the smell of the whip tubing was very noticeable, and so weird, I kept looking around to see if i left my stash open, but it was just under my nose

Check these out. That page is the storefront; he updates with 'add to cart' buttons when he has stock.

I just got a glow in the dark/dichro tip; it's so fucking cool. These are seriously the coolest accessories available in the entire e-cig market.

The guy doesn't respond to emails very fast, but when he has stock, processing and shipping is swift

also-- I just pulled the wick/bridge/inner wick off of a 306

Then I dropped a tiny dab of earwax inside.

So far.... The results are... Encouraging :)

i know people are paranoid about burning out atties. But when you actually know what an atomizer does; how simple it is, you really just need to keep it clean. Blow it out, burn it off-- And if you can, drop it in an ultrasonic cleaner.

so seriously try this. it's so easy. When you strip a 306 it leaves a perfect little bowl. And you can crank the voltage, because you really just want to do short bursts of heat, otherwse you melt all the wax and then things start to break.

Put a drop of watermelon menthol in the bowl; i cannot smell weed at all. This is fuckiing awesome, and so far my atty seems fine.

soooooooo much info on the ECF, Im looking to try one of these, no nicotine, I dont smoke cigs or any kind of tobaccy. I want something with a lot of flavor, so a drip system? what about making my own liquids? I know making them will be much easier/safer since I wont be dealing with any nicotine. but Im kind of diving in head first here, trying to do my research but seems a bit difficult since I am not coming from analogs. Or maybe someone can just point me in the right direction(a specific direction, I have already lurked the ECF a bit but maybe im not in the right place)

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

Dripping seems the way to go when you want the most flavor. I haven't tried it myself (still satisfied with my tanks) but the 510's atty's seem popular for that. 510's batteries aren't really powerful though. If I were you I'd stay away from the starter sets and just order a couple of 510 atty's (including a LR one), a regular Ego battery plus charger, a drip tip and a couple of flavors (in pg as well as vg so you can learn about their differences) just to see how you like it first. I'm not really familiar with US prices, but I think you should be able to gather this for around 30 bucks or so.

LR?? :uhoh:

total noob, reading the abbreviations on the sticky there and still some terms not listed. oh well.

thanks man for the suggestions, anymore are welcome :)

LR = Low resistance atomizers. My favorite is the 2.0ohm LR306 atomizer from Avidvaper.com but there are oodles to choose from & try. If you get an eGo/Riva you can use any 510 or 306 atomizer or cartomizer on it so you'd be able to try multiple setups with them.

For no nicotine you can absolutely make your own juice way cheaper if you choose. You use PG/VG and flavorings. I've been on an all natural flavor kick myself for many moons.

You can get VG (vegetable glycerin) at most health food stores or drug stores. Be sure it is U.S.P grade.

You can get PG at feed stores or tractor supply place (again...look for U.S.P grade). You can also order it here:
http://www.essentialwholesale.com/s.nl/sc.9/category.152281/.f - They also carry VG.

I use flavorings from both of these lines. Some natural, some not:
http://www.faeriesfinest.com/extracts.html
At Fairie's the naturals are denoted by a green leaf

A new addition at Loranns is a natural line though many use their artificial flavors as well:
https://www.lorannoils.com/c-202-new-natural-flavors.aspx
Also got some really nice candy molds for my tincture candy from LorAnns which I ADORE.

You might start out with an eGo or Riva type battery/charger. Grab a couple atomizers and a drip tip. If you took to it you could order extra batts/attys down the line. You don't have to buy a kit, you can piece it together.

Feel free to email me if you need help, I am happy to help anyone trying the ecigs though it's generally smokers lol. You can also visit a smaller ecig forum and get some help there. ECF can be very overwhelming. If you post on IVC, you can get friendly folks with knowledge to help out (including me ;) ) or you can just read if you prefer. www.internationalvapersclub.com

There are also a TON of how to videos online if you get stuck and need info on anything specific. You can look on Youtube.com, VapeTv.com or ElixirTv.com.

Good luck!

yeah, the e-cigs that look like e-cigs don't have enough power

900 mAh or more of power are needed for the low resistance atomizers (LR atty), which allow you to get the warmth and volume of vapor needed to imagine you're smoking anything close to an analog

cheap bat style kits can be found for $49, sold with LR 510 or LR 901 attys

de-wicking and de-bridging videos are available online...i've de-wicked both my 510 and 901, and it yields richer hits, but also a wetter vapor, and if you don't get ALL of the wick material you still get some burnt taste (and I don't think you can get all the wick material if it's not a new atty, and even then sometimes a shred gets caught)

and mixing your own e-liquid is the way to go...i used to pay ten bucks a bottle at the liquor store, and now it costs me half a buck...i spend maybe thirty cents a day

LR 306 are by far the biggest upgrade for the price you can add to any 510 threading they eat juice but are so nice to indulge on i use the cisco brand and still have my 2 original i ordered a month and a half ago.... My omega hits like a beast with an 18650 and lasts forever its like a dream and the drip taste mmmmm mmmm

woah thanks everyone! tons of info, looks like Im going to need to do quite a bit more reading! :p

So I read that PG produces more or better flavor? what are your guys' experiences?

and what is YOUR favorite site to purchase parts from(batts, attys, etc etc)?

nycdeisel, I LOVE to smoke, but can't abide the side effects - all i really need is the hand to mouth thing and it's nice to be able to out with the smokers at parties and not drain a whole drink or stand there with my hands fiddling. this thing has kept me from starting smoking again. our situation is similar in that we only want non nic juices.

i use a drip tip with a 510 atty and a 900 mah battery. i started with the riva 510 kit shown here http://www.liberty-flights.com/product.asp?id=55 i have a discount code if your order from these guys, let me know if you want it.

and then moved on to a drip tip and a larger battery. DH uses nic juices and he uses a cartridge like the one that comes with the kit and a low resistance atomizer.

do try some bakery flavors from here snickerdoodle cookie is awesome blueberry muffin is good too.
http://www.mstsbakery.com/

and then replicate them cheaply or make different ones with the supplies you find here
http://www.diyflavorshack.com/

fun stuff!
I even found out at our community clean up that our neighbor is a member of a vaporist organization and very active in it. vapers are everywhere, they even sell the cheap ecigs at the flea market around here and there is a dude that sells juices - it is becoming more popular and more people ask us about it every day.

nycdeisel, even though the world of ecigs is fun, i know that all of the options and terminology can be confounding and a little off putting but here's one good way to go if you're just getting started and want something decent.
first off this site has very good prices and fast delivery and has good stuff including liquid -
www.madvapes.com
for liquid, pick flavors that seem appealing and have good reviews. right now i'm enjoying their "Hawaiian Delight" and "Top Banana" but their root beer believe it or not is also excellent - also they have a delicious apple flavor and many other nice treats.
As herbgirl suggests, start off with a kit and buy a drip tip to go along with that.
The Ego is a very popular and very good intro kit -
http://www.madvapes.com/510-eGo-XL-Kit-with-Carrying-Case_p_2704.html
This will be fine.
At the same sight for drip tips -
http://www.madvapes.com/Dripper-Tips_c_204.html

normally an ecig is three or four parts - battery, atomizer, cartridge and optional atomizer cover or cone. with the drip tip you use that instead of a cartridge, connected directly into the atomizer. normally the cartridge connects to the atomizer which connects to the battery.

manual batteries are better than automatics. with the manual you push a button before you puff, with the automatics puffing triggers the battery but it's not as powerful.

you're lucky that you don't smoke - I was a serious cigarette smoker for a long time and I didn't think it would have been possible for me to even cut down but it's been almost seven months since I put a cigarette in my mouth and there's no craving, only an occasional appetite for one. my goal is to reduce the nic level down from 24 mg to 5 by next year little by little. 5 is just enough to satisfy an addiction and bring me to the crossroads of eliminating nicotine altogether.

madvapes is really good.

Don't bother with newbie gear. You will consign it to a forgotten drawer in a month. Buy a $35 variable voltage box from madvapes and some 510 atomizers and call it a day.

Orestes,

jeffp

psychonaut/retired
Ego isn't newbie gear - newbie gear is the stuff they sell in the malls. Ego is more like higher end consumer level, like Yamaha for audio equipment - not quite audiophile but very decent.
This variable voltage box -
http://www.madvapes.com/Variable-Voltage-Box-Mod_p_3045.html
is $35 and is probably amazing but add $16 for two atomizers, $4 for a drip tip, $10 for two batteries (http://www.madvapes.com/Ultrafire-Protected-14500-Battery-900-mAH_p_2039.html)
and $10 for the charger (http://www.madvapes.com/TrustFire-TR-001-Lithium-Ion-Battery-Charger_p_2474.html) - about $75 and call it a day.
