One of the best for sure. I like Game of Thrones and Homeland just as well. Never watched The Wire, but heard that was another great one.

As far as the ending..............could be a scene where the camera pans back from Walt laying in a hospital room with all sorts of tubes coming in and out of him as he takes his last breath and succumbs to cancer, leaving the family business to his wife.

Well I think that the flash forwards are parts of the last episode, so I'm seeing that M-60 laying some lead. I think since the flash forwards are ~a year or so in the future (51 beginning of season 5 to 52 in the flash forward), something really bad happened at his house, and he is all alone, that nearly everyone is already dead at that point. Also he had a full head of hair, so he must be off chemo. Those flash forwards drive me crazy.:argh:

way too cliche.

they'll tear the family apart.

walt will be demonized more and more each episode until the finale.

..unless syklar gets her hands dirty real quick, it's not going to be a picturesque ending!

I was reading someplace (maybe it was here?) that someone came up with theory that Walt vanishes and is found years later, as Malcolm's dad.

Re: the DVR issue.

This happened to me as well. I did some RCA and found out why. AMC was not showing repeats, they were airing on another network (some filler network) so when I went to the DVR manager for comcast, there was no way to specify "this channel only, record new episodes only" etc..

Comcast is constantly changing their online DVR manager but this is one of the biggest drawbacks. It's way too complicated to just set things to "record only the new episode, only in HD, whenever the fuck the new episodes start airing"

What's worse is there is no way to set
"Record this show, but only episodes I haven't seen yet" This is obviously how it should work, but because it doesn't tap into your viewing history...there is no option.

Another problem is of course these netflix deals and DVD deals. Because Netflix was streaming BB, AMC was not showing old seasons on Demand etc...

Same problem with FX. They usually only do on demand for most recent episodes of most recent seasons

Trying to catch up on Justified was a clusterfuck of waiting. I watched new episodes long before I could find a way to watch old episodes.

No wonder everyone pirates these days. The On Demand tech and interface looks like it was designed in 1997

Exactly, and probably 80% of the people who watched seasons 1-4 probably did it via Netflix like me, or pirated. Which means the show itself had artificially low ratings etc. (and that leads to other problems...)

Anyhoot, I was worried about the last half of season 5. Most great shows have horrible endings because they either weren't originally planned out and the (Sopranos) or rushed (DeadWood) or an entire season is rushed (HBO ROME)

or because the ending was already guessed by the fans in the first episode, so they pretend it's going to be different, but then it isn't any different from what the fans guessed it was, except the show runner argues with fans and tells them they are wrong, and everyone feels like everything after Michelle Rodriguez's character left was pointless nonsense. (LOST)

Grantland pointed out nicely how Breaking Bad is from the new type of show where they actually could plan an ending as the "dark cable drama" rules have now been laid out thanks to shows like The Wire and Sopranos. Now we expect great endings.

And "I'll tell you what" - Breaking Bad is the first show I've watched where I feel like the final season is exceeding expectations and not being silly and preachy (Deep Space 9) or written from anger at fans (Sopranos)

Like everyone else, I thought Jessie tossing money was unrealistic and a cheap tactic to get Jessie back into the story. But they made up for it the next episode.

Like everyone else, I also knew that the moment Landry showed up, he would ruin everything for Walt.

Every time I see Landry, all I can think of is, "Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose".

Matty's grandma is on Longmire. She's awesome as usual, although she hasn't been on much this season.

You'd have to read all the David Chase interviews, but basically he was really annoyed at the fans and critiques, especially after the finale. He's one of those genius writers that sort of pisses off others or gets pissed at others etc...

V. Giligan who writes Breaking Bad for example, was fired by Chase, and tells the story one way. Chase is like "what the fuck ever, I was busy running the Sopranos... I don't even remember any of that.." paraphrased from a much longer interview ^_^

V. G. tells it that like the day after winning the emmy for the Sopranos episode he wrote, Chase fired him lol. I don't know if chase has done anything since, but V.G. is obviously the hottest writer in the world right now. He could name his price for anything.

So in the end, it worked out great for both of them. But for us fans, IDK about you but I thought the earlier seasons of Sopranos were way better than the last 1-3. Just seemed to fizzle IMO.

Of course the Sopranos is the OG of dark cable drama, so it's much easier now that we have the blueprint. At the time Sopranos was totally different than anything. It's really not fair at all to critique it.

The Grantland.com article about it really does a much better job than I can tellin it.
