Just figured I would clarify why we are not considering Cloud 2 at this time. We are in a legal battle with Cloud V and Cloud Vapez for violating our trademark. Legal issues can take time to resolve. The biggest problem is when my sales team calls a head shop to offer the cloud, the shop already things they have the cloud ect.
As much as I wish the Cloud name could be kept right now, I do have to agree with the above post...Every time I go to a headshop, or really anywhere where I could say "Have you heard of the Cloud?" I get a response of, "oh yeah, we carry those pens," or "yeah, my buddies got one of them little oil sticks," etc...and I'm always pulling out my phone to show them the actual VXL Cloud.

But, as others have said, as long as this thing produces the Clouds in a thick, rapid succesion, with some serious reliability, I really don't care what the hell they name it. My only hope is that the only writing on the shell, stays the VapeXhale logo with the monkey...

I don't think I have ever heard of a company that changes their product's name in response to their copyright being infringed upon. It certainly projects weakness to me.

What ultimately is keeping me from wanting an "eagle" is the warranty situation with the cloud plus. From the last I heard no replacement parts are to be stocked, and this situation will add weeks to the repairs, should warranties ever be honored again. Aren't these heater parts made by people that VXL has a conflict with?

I'm not interested in owing two nearly identical vapes, one with a trustworthy warranty would be smashing.

Cloudy...
If you wanted an animal name, I would liked more any monkey reference, for example "cloudmonkey". I hope you didn't take out the monkey logo from the vape to put an eagle, the logo is one of my favourite things in my cloud+.

Yeah I'm aware of the 'other' Clouds, but unless they grabbed the name long before they came out with a product, you guys were first, and legalities aside, the appearance may be that they ran you off of using the Cloud name. And if you're going to legally reclaim the name, but proceed with Eagle, what would you do with 'Cloud' at a later date that wouldn't cause confusion? And aren't you guys due for some good luck for a change? ;)

We surely are due for some good luck! Once justice has been served, we will bring the Cloud name back in a way that doesn't cause confusion. Aside from the upcoming Eagle we have a lot of other devices in mind and would love to provide our customers with.

We know the cloud name is ours, and when we bring it back it will be a product worthy for sure and at that point the Eagle will be its own beast!

I could see them changing the name in the sake of moving forward with the project, if they went ahead with Cloud 2.0 and lost the legal battle, recalling all the units in stock would be costly.

I just don't get the move to "Eagle". "Cloud" is synonymous with vapor. I heard about "The Cloud" through this forum only, and not from this particular thread. If it were have been refereed to as "The Eagle" I would have paid no attention to it.

But if it must be called Eagle, here is an "Eagle Cloud", :D

Edit: I did a google for Eagle Vaporiser and found: Eagle Bill's Shake & Vap pipe just so you are aware.

Don't mistake this as a sign of weakness, this is strategic in that the Cloud name is very muddied now and there are legal discussions taking place.

As for the warranty, we've said this countless times so I'm not sure saying it again makes any difference but the warranty situation for existing Cloud owners is the same. You simply have to wait until we are back up and running. We will find another alternative heat source to fix your unit and should be as good as new. Now if you want to upgrade to the latest unit, which is not nearly identical in my eyes (lots of incremental improvements) but it may be for you, then you have that option as well.

Lastly, our Reddit thread is back up, can you guys upvote or take a look?

Cool looking cloud. For a VXL logo I picture an eagle starting his dive, with his wings up in a V shape.

Eagle Bill's Shake and Vape pipe was possibly the very first vaporizer. He was Cherokee, thus the 'Eagle'. Name wise, I think they're clear with Eagle.

Does anybody know if the Eagle will use the same ELBs? As I seem to have accumulated a dozen or so I sure hope so.

My ELBs that were fine with the original ticker were extremely tight with the Cloud+. So much so that when I used then later (after Cloud+ diedZ) in my original they would fall out if I inverted the Cloud to use with my Ion.

Man, improving performance on the Cloud or Cloud Plus is a tall order! The quicker heat up time will be nice for sure... But as far as cloud production and versatility of different temps and great flavor... Man good luck improving that!! (That's a good problem to have! haha--you guys already kinda set the ceiling on performance and ease of us, though...).

If the eagle is better.... I'll be blown away... again, like the first time I used a cloud... I just can't imagine it being better... But you guys are the pros there, not me.

Just as my two cents, the detachable cord and all that is great... But as far as performance improvements--I love to see even better efficiency. It's already outstanding, but if you need something to focus on--->put the engineers on that!

Will the users be called Veagans ?

Seriously people , let's move on .
VXH is calling it the Eagle , and have given the explanations and reasons to why .

For All those that are refusing to purchase the Eagle ,
Solely because of the new name .
Please take one step backwards ......hmmm , Just as I thought .

Can't wait for the Eagle ....

So if I make a donation to cover my two Clouds do you suppose I could get a "mating pair" of Eagles?

Maybe wind up with my own nest of "Eaglets"?

My thoughts on the "Eagle" are as follows:

-- Like the majority of experienced vapor users and FC members, I only care about the performance and durability of the unit. That being said, the majority of FC members in this thread are indeed "fanboys" (I don't mean that negatively) ... if ALL the fanboys don't like the name, then how do you realistically expect this to be received by the general public?

-- I respect the meaning behind the name and SM55's explanation of why they decided to go with "Eagle". All respect aside, this seems to be an awful marketing decision. No matter how you want to twist it, the name has no legitimate relation or connection to the act of vaporization (while "Cloud" obviously does). The Cloud is definitely the best vaporizer ever created, but the Volcano is still the most widely recognized by a huge margin. Why? Aside from the fact that it was leaps and bounds ahead of all others for a long time, the name Volcano is simply kickass and it stands out and catches your attention. Someone who is a beginner or just entering the world of Vaporization (or even someone experienced who has yet to hear of the Cloud) is not going to be allured by the name "Eagle".

-- Not everyone is an intelligent and experienced vaporist. Those who are not (the majority of "stoners") are going to think the "Volcano" and "Mad Flight Launch Box" are much cooler than the "Eagle", simply because they sound cooler (I own all three and other vaporizers as well). While this makes me cringe, it's just the cold, hard truth.

I think it is best summed up by the response of this forum ... virtually everyone seems to dislike the name quite a bit. I'm sure that the last thing VXL wants to do at this point is another go-round with the lawyers to come up with a new name, but the fanboy forum has spoken and if they don't like it, it is very naive to think that others will.

It's as simple as this ... do you think you will sell more units of the VapeXhale "Eagle" than any of the following:

- Himalaya
- Summit
- Stratosphere
- Shadow
- Mist
- Haze

Just a few simple names off the top of my head, but I think we all know that the answer is a resounding NO. Choosing a name based on pride as opposed to what will sell more units is a foolish business decision ... just my .02

My thoughts on the "Eagle".....see post directly above this one....
I think that Zeeg summed it up very nicely! I don't really care, I'll vape, and rep the shit out of whatever you call it...but I still say it should be the VapeXhale Puffin! Someone came up with a great ad for it a page or two ago, and my newspaper spoke to me like a calling with the picture of the Puffin, and the caption about Project Puffin...Seriously, just do it ;)

Edit*
As I walked into the kitchen after taking a shower, I caught the cover of the local daily paper out of the corner of my eye...and what was on it? A bird...and not an eagle mind you...

The Vapexhale Puffin! Just think about it...;)

I mean come on, the paper even says "Project Puffin." They know what's up!

Here's a shitty attempt at an ad for fun. I'm no artist...obviously:lol:
Do it :D Edit** I know there are rules here, and this will be my last post regarding the Eagle Vs. Puffin, etc, debacle. I apologize if I've pushed it too far ;)

Except not "all" the fans here dislike the name. Have you not been reading along? The general public doesn't give a shit. In fact, you are seeing a grossly distorted view here because only the haters and a few defenders are inclined to post about it. The "majority" you refer to doesn't care enough to express an opinion, unless you think that everyone reading the thread has posted about this.

I don't believe that the number of people who will make a $500 purchasing decision based on not liking the name will matter one iota. Name one vapourizer that turned into best-seller because it has a cool name.

Still waiting.

I have read every single post and I have seen about 2-3 people say that they "like" it (don't count mine btw ... I was simply sucking up for the contest in hopes of winning). Feel free to correct me if I am wrong on my tally.

The problem with your post is that you are making quite a few assumptions and missing the point entirely.

1) The general public doesn't give a shit? Do I really need to even touch on this ridiculous statement that cannot be supported or backed by any actual evidence? Have you spoken with the general public and conducted extensive polling? In fact, the only polling one can really do is listen to the feedback of the most die-hard and supportive fans of this company ... after doing so, it is safe to say that 90%+ of those who expressed an opinion had a negative one. Furthermore, among those who dislike the name are several FC veterans who have made thousands of posts.

2) The "majority" doesn't care enough to express an opinion? If one does not log into a message board to translate their opinion into text, does it mean that they have no opinion to begin with? Or does it mean that their opinion did not reach a specific threshold at which they felt compelled to write a post about it on an internet forum? Most people troll ... even trolls have opinions.

3) You seem to have missed the point about the name of a product influencing potential sales ... are you actually arguing that a product's name has absolutely no effect on how much it sells?

4) Name one vaporizer that turned into a best-seller based on the name? Well I certainly don't think the Volcano would have sold AS MANY units if it was called the "Eagle" instead, but I don't want to fall into the same "assumption trap" as you. But once again, you are rewording my main argument ... no crappy vaporizer will sell more units because it has a cool name, but a great vaporizer will sell less units because it has a name that lacks appeal and lacks the ability to pique the interest of a potential buyer. Is this really a complex concept to understand?

From a psychological perspective, the name of a product is usually not something that a person consciously critiques when deciding whether or not to purchase it ... that being said, do you think that our subconscious doesn't play a role in this when faced with a decision?

Here's an example:

A rich college kid wants to pick up a cool new expensive vaporizer because it seems to be the hottest trend lately. He goes into his local headshop and is faced with a number of choices. As he is introduced to his options by the store employee, he hears that they carry the Volcano, Extreme Q, Mad Flight Launch Box and the Eagle. Knowing nothing about vaporizers, do you think that he would be more likely to be subconsciously drawn to the "Eagle" over the others? Perhaps.

btw my opinion exceeded the necessary threshold to compel me to post that the VapeXhale Puffin is an awesome name ... too bad it's such a lame bird.

hehe well the name isn't important to me, if it's the eagle then I don't care as long as it works like my old cloud did! lol I still like sanford and son the vape better haha :p

will be the cloud 2.0 in my mind no matter what they call it really.

Oh dude, I feel for you. are you medicinal? if not tell her you are taking risks that just are not worth it. getting busted is total bs. :(

I am medicinal, but that's besides the point. She says that I don't care about her when I get high and stuff. Last night I was able to bargain for being able to vape in our apartment atleast. Phew....

and ps, at first I didn't like eagle, but it's growing...

Your tally is irrelevant for the reasons I stated. If you think that the posts here are representative of the opinion of the market in general, then we have no grounds for discussion. The general public doesn't even know about the name issue, so of course it doesn't give a shit. What's ridiculous is suggesting that the only possible poll isn't a poll at all, but listening only to die-hard fans.

By far the majority of people viewing this thread have not expressed an opinion and never will. The whole point here is whether the name matters, and most registered members don't care enough to express an opinion. This is obvious if you pay attention to what happens here, as I do. If registered members aren't motivated to express an opinion then I find it inconceivable that the general public does. Of course, you can believe what you like.

Nowhere did I argue that the name has absolutely no effect on sales. I said that the number of people who would be influenced by the name wouldn't matter. Of course there will be people silly enough to say, "Oh, I don't care if it's an excellent vapourizer, I could never buy one with that name." I believe that there will be few of these, but don't let that stop you from continuing to argue that there will be enough to make a difference. You'll never convince me.

People buying vapourizers that cost as much as the Eagle almost invariably do some research first. This research is not, "What is it called?" but "How well does it work? Does it meet my needs?" You can go on thinking that the name will change the minds of these people if you like. I suggest you go back and read the opinions of those who said they dislike the name, "the most die-hard and supportive fans of this company" as you put it. How many of them have said they won't buy one because of the name?

Your rich college kid example is hilarious. So he gets four names and then decides without any other information, or he gets information about each one and then decides based on the name? Yeah, that happens a lot I'm sure.
