Davinci by Karma

hm, I was planning on sending my new davinci (new model) back because I only could get between 5 or 6 - 9 minutes sessions, I haven't tried it out for real yet, just testing the battery so I don't have to worry if I have to send it back, so it might even be slightly less than that because while testing I just turn the davinci on, let it get to 190°C and let it go untill it auto shuts off.. so no drawing wich requires re-heating and such, still seems close to what others are getting with their new device so I just might put this little green puppy to work tonight for real and let it get used to it's new home.

So, I did have my unit replaced (unreliable temperature gauge/battery gauge) and the replacement unit arrived last thursday. I am grumpy though, because out of the box the silicone ring at the base of the straw was not fixed in place. It sits loosely at the base of the straw and just slides up the straw as it screws in. It doesn't make a good seal at the join this way and lets in way too much air. I know from the previous unit this is not supposed to happen.

I contacted the e-store where my friend bought the original (this was a birthday present from an out-of-state friend) and they said they couldn't send me a replacement straw, but I should contact the company directly. The concern I have is that I don't know if this store was an authorized retailer, so I don't know that Karma would hold the warranty valid. I had my original unit less than 3 weeks, and I have had the replacement a week. I love the performance of the unit, but I don't know how much of the customer service I am entitled to. Any thoughts.

Is there some kind of indicator on the new unit to show that the battery is fully charged? Mine seems to just keep charging.

I have an old unit and this happens. Davinci said it was a 'display issue' and does not affect the actual charging. I unplug it to see if it's fully charged. But I keep it on the charger when not in use so it's never bothered me.

Wakeandbake, tell me what you how you have used your dv. Since the first day I got it original model I never had any issues making huge clouds. I am by no means a long draw person and I am also a low heat person. I use my DV at 375 and sometimes even go down a big as it is hard on my throat. I have used all different types of grind but I found that packed but not overly and course ground is best although I have used fine and it still was good. If you describe what you do I am sure myself or others can help you achieve what you want from the DV. I actually am not a cloud chaser but when I watched the vids I thought the ascent made less clouds on some of the ones I saw. I just like some visible vapor for feedback nothing more.

Well I use it at 205 and let it heat up then fill the chamber not tight but packit nicely with a medium grind.
I find the first couple of draws primes it and then it starts producing vapor.
I get nice visible vapor for sure it makes me cough which is allways a good sign I'm getting vapor so that's good.
I do get visible clouds but not huge equal to the pinnacle I would guess.
I'm by no means disappointed, it gets me very medicated so that all that matters.
Being medicated has nothing to do with visible vapor, this is n thing I've come to realize.
Cheers medical mark

I get huge clouds at 375 with slow or fast pulls. Something must be up with the unit or the filling technique. I'm leaning towards the unit because it's hard for me not to get clouds even with a half-full oven. I didn't find any learning curve either.

I have the same greenroom. I can get bigger clouds with the DV as much as the solo or whatever. The PN is no where near the DV on cloud although I have gotten the PN down with my draw now but it is work.

The few times I have tried the davinci, I started at 370 and tried to got up as high as 420 and still really didnt get big of clouds like I do with my pax, there is SOME vapor...but just not much and it just feels kind of week so I quit using it.
I believe I was using a fine (but far from dust like) grind and I fill the bowl full but dont pack it down really.
And I use slow draws that I learned when using the mflb
It is definetly a solid built vape and would like to get my money out of it...I will pull it out and try it again
I also heard the screens or the flexi straw can reduce hit size, is that true? If so how could you tell if one of those is the culprit?
And btw dreamer, thanks for getting an answer to my question, your awesome! Thanks medical mark and greenroom as well...if it is the unit (just my f***ing luck) is it something I can do (like change sreens)? Or is it something I have to send it in for?

The screens as long as they aren't clogged shouldn't be effecting your vapor production. I have never even taken my straw ones out and just took the bottom one out about a month ago. If you really want to know when look back on this thread. That means I had reduced air flow and didn't even realize how much till I cleaned it. With that said I still had no issues with vapor just had to draw harder but since it happened over time I didn't even notice till I cleaned it. I would say after you try it again now that if you can't get vapor show us a vid if you want or send it in cause it doesn't sound right.

Is this what's suppose to happen? I seem to remember on the old unit the light would turn green when it's done charging.

the two screens in the upper hinged piece will get particles trapped in it and clog with residue and slow the rate of air draw after using the unit for a while. I took the upper screen out completely and keep the lower screen that comes in contact with the herb clean so it does not effect air flow.

hey,
I think my DV broke. Yesterday I turned it on, all I got was a blue, blank screen. When I pressed the power/heat button all it did was that the red light flashed 5 times, besides that nothing happens.
There is literally nothing I can do with it now.
Is this something I can fix myself or do I have to return it?

are you able to adjust the temp setting while unit is turned on? maybe also try to operate unit while it is plugged into a charger. I've had the red light flash when it ran out of juice in the battery and when it also overheated after a long session and when it got weird juice or something from the charger while using it and plugged in at the same time.

Out to lunch
I was afraid of that, it will take a month until I can get back to the store where I bought it. :/
As long as you have a receipt you can return it to DV. That may be your best bet, especially if the store won't swap it out for a new one. A lot of stores have a 30 day policy for returns- after that it's deal with the manuf. anyway.

It is some standard commercial moroko resin (heavy pollem). I put in small pieces, sometimes a bit of flame before to make partable.
at temperature max = 207°C.The substance really cook well. I played below 200°C also and it is very pleasant too.

The important thing is to make well the seal with upper part with the rubber piece of the can, so that you inhale through the can and not outside of it. Vapor is particularly heavy. i want to try to partly put the rubber before closing so that the pieces make the right ajustment themselves. to try.

In case of unit production variance, it is a very recent DV2 from piu (what a deal at 139$!) with magnet closing (great feature).

Sun is shinning, weather is sweet.

I still have a brand new unit and was thinking of firing it up and wanted to know what is a good temp to start at for mmj? Do I heat up the unit first then put ground material in?

Never had to really use the davinci handheld but now I want something a little more stealth. My solo with the new glass on glass stem works great but not to stealthy. Will this davinci give me hits like the solo? HOW does that cool little can work? Or should I ask does it really work?
