I'm not sure what the "solution that OF stated before in this monster thread" you're referring to is.....and sadly I'm OF and should recall it.....can you refresh my memory, please? TIA

As far as advice on a PA goes, my advice is to standby a week or two, I'm working on just that little project and think I might have a good suggestion pending (parts on order now).

Otherwise, while I too think Solo is a great product, I think I'll come a little shy of the "best vape for the value" label, too subjective for my blood. There are lots of excellent offerings out there to suit varying needs of a diverse group like us.

I believe you were able to find the sweet spot in terms of voltages on the universal power adapter to put the solo in PA mode. In terms of the best vape for the value I can understand where my first post is so open. I should have described the terms of what I mean value : price, taste, performance and also the warranty from the manufacture of the product. Is how I determine the overall value when I look at the purchase of my vaporizer. Your subjectivity is very profound [OF] not too many have that ability now a days. FC and its community are pretty awesome.

Ah, so! Yes, mate the connector right and hit the correct voltage range (not always easy) and have enough current ability (you need two Amps, not common) and it works fine. I have several examples, just none 'turnkey' and since most guys don't solder...... Hopefully this new scheme will fix that, a few parts from the same vendor that plug together to make it happen for less bucks. Let me try it out first?

I don't disagree, Solo is a neat device, I'm using mine a lot right now. I just point out it's a big world out there, and this here FC community is a great resource. As to the subjective topic (I'd actually term is objective, at least I hope I am...) the obvious side effect of hanging with too many scientists for too long. As a bunch they have an interesting perspective on how the world works.....at least sometimes.

Anyway, enjoy the Solo for what it is and standby for a bit on the PA (and charging supply) idea.

I use mine similarly to ictus. I mull with my fingers to break up any lumps but not too finely, pack the standard bent 4-hole stem full and reasonably firmly (but not packed tight like ictus), and then vape it leisurely over three 12-minute sessions at level 3. No bits come through the stem, and it's all fully brown and no remaining odor in the spent herb after the three cycles.

On another note, surely the seal around the stem loosening as the unit heats up is effectively adding side channels to the stem? I like whirling mine around like a toy.

Hey everyone, first time poster here but long time Volcano user. I've been wanting to get into portable vapes with dry leaves (It's hard to get wax/oil where I live) and my friend told me about a Groupon for the Atmos RX. After I bought it (for around $70), I read the long thread here about how bad it is and how it shouldn't be advertised as a vaporizer since it's really an e-pipe. I have not received it yet but I am considering not opening it and just re-selling for what I paid.

Anyway, I have been doing a lot of research into the Arizer Solo and it seems to be one of the best portable vapes on the market now. Ebay lists the "2013 M1A" model for $140 with free shipping, but the official site and even re-sellers like Vapeworld sell what appears to be the same thing for $225 or so. Is there a difference between these models? I read a post from 2012 saying not to buy it cheap on Ebay because it's a bad model and that's why it's cheaper, but a year later maybe they improved on it?

The advantage of buying from an authorized site is that you have the CS support, get the latest model, and they do offer discount codes in the $160 range of those who are FC sellers.

Also, buying from those FC sellers support those vendors who are physically 'involved' on this site.

^^People mostly warn against buying on EBay because Arizer will only honor the warranty when the unit is purchased from an authorized retailer. Some retailers will handle the warranty for you so in these cases it works out. I was lucky in this regard.

My advice, buy from Puffitup or PV...they have deals on the Solo for $160 and it's covered under manufacturer's warranty should you need it

Edit: Bought it for $160, saved about $70 dollars with that promo code! Plus it came with what looks to be a decent 4piece aluminum grinder! Can't wait to try this thing out. Now what to do with my unopened AtmosRX....

+1 on a reputable dealer - fleebay or otherwise.
It's definitely wise to go with a reputable dealer - although in all fairness ebay arguably has some 'reputable' high volume high feedback sellers and Arizer seems to replace DOA units without question to all legit sellers.
I need international shipping so dealt with an ebay seller. I got a DOA unit - good battery but bad circuit board and it was replaced under warranty without fuss.
After I'd already posted it back to the ebay guy, the Australian rep got in touch with me via email and asked me if I wanted to post it to them for a replacement!
I've never seen customer service like that before and I was impressed that they'd gone to all that bother.

I'm looking to buy a Solo in the near future. I've found a good price on Amazon.co.uk - £149.99, includes extra glass stems for "free". The sellers are a company called SaleShop, who have a good rating on Amazon.
They say that they are authorized resellers- does anybody know if this is the case or not?
I do want to make sure that I'm buying the real deal from an authorized seller so as I get a quality product with a sound warranty.

If I were you mate Id go n ebay and look for the seller goodgets_uk. Arizer pointed me in their direction so they are authorised and you also get 4 stems for the same price on top of a guaranteed warranty. Also you get a cheap plastic grinder which isnt worth a fart but free is free.

They also claim to cover the warranty for 3 years.

vapefiend.com is a really good webshop, authorized seller and a really nice guy (also sell the solo at 149.99) I bought my cloud from him

Thank you that's very useful. Main reason I've been looking at Amazon is that I've got a 50quid evoucher from them, but goodgets do seem to be the real deal- I like the fact that they say they deal with warranty issues here in the UK.
I've found an email address for Arizer so I've asked them if SaleShop are a pukka dealer. I can afford to wait for a week or so as won't have anything to smoke in it until then

If you look at fubar's post above, arizer is very good about honoring warranties despite where you bought it and that had been confirmed numerous times through this thread but I haven't personally had to deal with any warranty issues. also in the 610 pages I don't think there has been a single claim of a counterfeit solo showing up anywhere (ebay, Amazon, etc.). shopsale might be an authorized dealer but you can check with goodkgets to verify that. arizer in Canada may not know who goodkgets has authorized to sell in UK but that would depend on how their contract with the distributor is set up. Based on previous posts you could feel confident that arizer would honor the warranty even on a unit purchased through Amazon but if you don't want to deal with international post check with goodkgets if they will honor a warranty on any solo the way arizer in Canada does

Good call, IMO. Peace of mind has a real value in my book. Going with a legit dealer is like buying insurance in a way, and as they say 'you don't buy for the day your house doesn't burn down'. As a long time fan of Murphy, I think he'll easily pass you over to rain grief on the next guy if he's not so protected?

IMO you'll love your Solo soon enough.

Hey I was wondering if anyone knew a shop in NYC that sells the solo for $160 if you show them online sotes do it for that much.

If not how could I order one without shipping it to my house? Don't have a friends place to ship it to either.

I'm curious... I don't know if I want to order a second pax or one of these for a portable to compliment my NO2.

In terms of usability, if I replace the glass stem with something more durable, how's a SOLO stack up again the PAX?

Mostly in terms of bowl size/taste/battery life/reliability I guess. I can't say I love the PAX flavor.

Hi exit, i read this post as vaping a bowl with my solo and bubbler, and i can say if i had a pax and not a solo I'd be sad. i have tried a friends pax and didn't like it much, but i've been a daily solo user for over a year and a half. I would totally suggest the solo.
the size is slightly larger than the pax, but feels comfortable in my hand
(but i have large hands)
the taste can only be described as awesome, but then any vapor should tast awesome in my opinion.
however i've had many people tell me that they "actually taste the weed", me fucking headpalming
I get about 7-9 bowls on a full charge with each lasting 12-15 mins.
I tend to favor the glass stem over a wood stem even tho it is unbreakable, i have two of Ed's wood stems, the metel bowl retains heat better then the glass does, therefore im much more likely to burn myself with the wood stem, i also find the vapor to be kinda harsh, but bearable, with a hint of wood flavor in there.
Iv'e owned 4 solo's with 2 of them currently in top shape (working well no major dents, scratches), one of my solo's started over heating the bowl slightly, felt like vapor from a 230c not the 210C the solo should be at when at 7, this was verified when it happened to a few friends when in use, so im warranting it currently. My very first solo got beat up on, and worked fine, the reason i warranted that one was that the botom plastic on y solo started to chip, nothing functually impaired, just visually ugly, so she went back to Canada, while she was in canada i acquired a second solo.
Damn im vaked right now.
on a second note maybe check out the ascent, i know im watching for it to realese, with hopes of setting my solo's down for good but who knows, best of luck looking for a vape

hey guys, im paranoid about getting cussed out about "not searching before posting", but i could not really find the answers i was looking for before posting this & its been 3hrs...so if thats going to be your reply, could you please at least link me to the posts that do answer my questions if you happen to know them?

so:

1. anyone know any other stems that can be used on the solo that arent made of glass? (excluding eds tnt wood stems)...for instance any nylon/stainless steel stems or something more durable thats not wood (since you cant soak wood in iso alcohol)?

2. has anyone ever thought about or tried to place a screen on at the bottom of the heater "cup" (between the heater and the rim of the stem) so that small debris do not fall underneath the cleanable area or into those little holes when you hold it upside-down (like a drinking glass with straw) & make it smell like abv forever?

3. i think this is the cheapest price ive seen (newest model with mfg warranty: Arizer Solo Portable Vaporizer - Massdrop - $128.43 with shipping but deal ends in like 42hrs). im planning on doing this, depending on the answers to my questions above...but must act fairly quickly...

4. can anyone tell me the outer diameter of the stems or the inner diameter of the silver heating site?

5. does anyone happen to know the outer diameter of UNDER DOG vapes' stainless steel nylon stems by any chance?

6. im planning on keeping this as an at-home vape (kind of like a log vape) with the option to take it out here & there. keeping a bunch of resinated glass pieces conveniently around just seems a little too scary to someone who might come across it who is not supposed to. on the other hand, my old nylon zap stems would not really even get noticed since they just look like some kind of tool or piece to furniture or whatever...glass bowls are just too obvious & delicate...any suggestions for stealthiness/ability to blend into a pencil holder-cup? does anyone have the ability to fashion some kind of stainless steel stem that would not get super hot to the touch?

IIRC Ed made glass inserts for the stems. I think that would resolve your issue if I remembered correctly.

The screen on the bottom of the cup has been discussed and a few do it. It also helps with air flow. I don't bother cause I don't like it but if you just screw off the top you can just shake the stuff that falls through out.

I don't know the answers to any of the rest.

Good knowledge. I had a really hard time picking the NO2 or Solo when I bought my NO2. I love it but want something a little different. Might grab that solo then... Would love to hear what anyone else has to say about comparing the two.

Also is it safe to load a bowl to have packed and ready to go? That's my favorite thing about the pax vs my no2.

You can preload a Solo stem by placing a magic flight battery size cap (also known as screw covers in your local hardware store) atop the packed stem.
