About those silicon rings. I have a 1ma4 that cant fit a ring under the cap. But I put it over the cap at the base of the stem. It does hold the stem and restrict some air for bigger clouds until you wiggle it.

Originally the idea was to tighten the stem grip up some so the stem wouldn't rotate or even fall out on guys as can happen when the normal seal in the top 'breaks in'.

Nothing sacred going on I think, if you're happy with the ring where it is I'm sure 'the guys' are happy for you......which is, I think, the whole idea here?

Enjoy the Solo, IMO a well thought through and useful vape.

Well I just my black leaf bubbler and its freaking awesome!
I think the drag is easier than with my broken showerdome but I think I'm using more water...
Anyway I started at 3 but it took a while longer than usual to pick up so I think next time I'll start at 5 then move to 7
Anyway I did some massive hits...damn I'm high...I don't really need another vape when I'm doing this...

EDIT : on I did a very poor first video in the middle of the heat I realized I can flip the camera view...

With bubbler I only start at 3 with new strains or if I want to enjoy the taste more, usually 5 and 7.
My average with TOP SHELF strains is about 4 thru my BLACK LEAF.

I think moSh could be taking SOLO rips as I write?

So I had a couple extra stems laying around, and I wanted a really short GonG adapter to make my solo a bit like a log style vape where you have to hold/press for contact against your glass. I scored the glass and snapped it, flame polished it and cut a piece of silicon tubing to fit. (A few here have done this and posted pictures, make sure you flame out all the glass edges and shards!) It works great, and I would recommend it to anybody who wants a GonG but wants to save a few bucks (I've been holding back on ordering a custom PVHE stubby because i think $35 plus shipping is a bit much).

I almost prefer this new short GonG because normally, I don't leave my solo connected to glass after each hit anyways, thats how things break :bang:. So it's almost like a reminder to place it back down after use, compared to a proper 14/18mm joint. Without the tubing, my pinnacle hydratube fits on top and slides down to the solo almost making contact, pretty neat. I like to keep that tubing on though to save my glass.

Anyways, here are a few snaps of it to show you size. ANDDD a video for you all of how I use my solo at home to get my stem nice and glassy after a bunch of buildup. (multiple back to back sessions on the PA builds up a nice amount of heat to distribute the gold, I know you can use a lighter or a hair dryer, but its always easy to slip up and add a bit too much heat. This way, you know you cant really go over and burn off your stem oil).

Believe me, anybody can do this. I used a dremel grinder bit cause thats all I had on hand, a glass score tool would have obviously worked, but any ceramic grinder bit will score glass. Youtube a video on glassblowing 101 and see how they snap glass (tubes especially), there are a few different techniques. I scored all the way around, dripped some water on it to keep the glass dust from going everywhere when breaking, and grabbed both ends and snapped hard in one motion. Cut came out very smooth, as expected. Then used my torch and ten minutes later, it looks like the end of a brand new stock stem. Try it out, if you have an extra stem laying around. you can always practice once, maybe twice, higher up on the stem before getting your final cut down low if you wanted.

Good luck!

Received my solo on sat. and i have nothin but great things to say about it! the taste @ 4-5 is truly amazing! it tastes as good as the mflb but w/ more taste and vape! i am truly pleased w/ the solo and look forward to playing w/ it some more tonight.

i have a question though ive been vaping on 5 and it seems the bowl finishes up before the 12min beep hits...is that normal?

way too many factors to answer that. what quality are your meds, how long do you wait in between hits. how big are your hits, water path or dry, how tight is your stem packed? I usually pack my stems tight with drier herb, last night a had 1 stem of Hindu kush last a full cycle on 3 then another full cycle on 5 and a3rd on 7 with 2 other people. I have had some Lower quality herb last less than 6 hits. try starting at 3 and bump it up as the hits get thinner at each setting

Hello all,
Camping trip planned for this weekend. Expecting to be away from any outlets for a few days. I have searched around a bit on the forum and can't find an answer to this question. I was hoping some of you had experience with portable charging. What works besides the standard car charger? I've about inverters or converters for cars. Anyone have any examples of power banks, ac/dc converters, or anything I can use to charger my solo away from an outlet?

A friend of mine brought this to a fest and It charged my Pax about 4 times over the weekend on top of a bunch of cell phones and another portable vape. It still had juice left over after the weekend also.

It seems to me that if you have a car handy to run the inverter it makes more sense to use a car cord. Making 12 VDC into something like 120 VAC (usually a poor attempt at 'pseudo sine' in low end inverters) only to make it back to 12 VDC to charge your Solo is working way too hard. Not to mention probably less than 50% efficient overall.

One of the 'gel cells in a box' units as suggested above works fine. Mine is much smaller and has no compressor (and was a lot cheaper) and will recharge half a dozen times or so. It uses a car cord into the traditional 'cigarette lighter jack' on the unit.

However, the kluge I originally made for the PD, and later used with the MFLB PA (both 12 VDC uses) works great here as well:

It gives about 'one and a half full recharges' per set, so six charged 18650s will recharge the Solo 3 times.

Could anyone reccomend or advise against bring the solo on vacation in your luggage? I know I'd have to probably take the whole unit apart to clean out any small bits and obviously leave the stem in 99 ISO over night and I'd most likely leave the stem behind when I come back home. Is there anything I'm missing? Am I being to ballsy? Thanks ahead of time for your opinions

Edit: In case it's not clear I will be flying

Well I put a screen and close the chamber so nothing can fall down...but if you have the stock stem and you have no screens I'll cut the herb more roughly and I won't stir (you don't need to) then the herb will be stuck and pieces won't fall down...there's not much to clean apart from the stem itself, if you vape correctly the solo itself should be clean...which makes it so awesome...the dirty stem can be washed with ISO and be used again :)

Thanks for the tips.

Last few days I have taken to no-grinding for the most part. I just take a little nug, and lightly separate it apart without actually breaking pieces off of it. This seems really effective. When I feel like it's hitting a bit slow, I can knock the perfectly cylindrical little plug of flowers out and put it back in backwards, exposing the lighter colored side. Much less messy and the 'plugs' stay together surprisingly well.

Always in a state of confusion and silliness♀
Are you flying in Canada cause the laws I would assume are different. I would just dump out all the flakes after I unscrew the lid, clean stem and put it in checked luggage. Buy maybe I am crazier then you
