Hey guys, I have a brand of butane named "Neon", it says ultra refined, but it doesn't say how many times. (I THINK 3X) It does however have a small seal on the back that says "UKAS Quality Management" and has a crown above that. Is this some kind of UK guarantee that it's really good? It also says "ISO 9001 Registered Firm". This brand is very available here, and if it's good, it would make it a lot easier on me. Thanks- Sundaddy
Hey everybody. I bought my first Iolite and vaporizer the other day. When I first used the Iolite I got pretty stoned off of two small bowls of mids. The second time, I couldnt really get high. The third time I got stoned again. Fourth time, not stoned. After this fourth time, the butane seemed to run out mid session. I reloaded the butane but now the Iolite wont start at all. I dont think I overfilled it because as soon as I saw some butane spit out I stopped. It still didnt work, so I kept adding butane and am now thinking I overloaded it. SO, How do I purge the tank? could anything else be wrong with it? I am really trying to give this a good try bc I dropped 250 on it at the headshop, and was hoping to switch from glassware to vapes.

Let your iolite sit for a few minutes after filling it (it tends too not want too light for a few minutes after filling it, sit back relax, let it sit for a few before trying to start it up)tabes87 said:

if still dont work. you can purge the tank by taking the brass tool and pushing down on the pin where you fill it up, be careful of the butane that it blows out. Shouldnt take that long too empty out. Purge the tank completely and let it sit for a few
could also be that you are using a lower quality butane.
if none of that helps, email the Iolite guy and he will talk you though some other troubleshooting steps too determine if your unit is defective.

I am sure it needs to be sent in for repair.
I actually purchased 2. I first got the Iinhale about 5 months ago and i think it was a defect from start. It was producing very light vapor eventually it just stopped working a month in. I then decided to purchase a new one and sell the repaired one to a friend.
From the new one, i saw a difference. I could tell from the packaging that the name was now Iolite and the pouch was all black. I used Colibri and eventually Vector and the device has been working great for the last 3 to 4 months. The temperature seemed set right on the newer unit and therefor more stronger roar more heat ups per minute.
I have hesitated on sending my old one back, mainly being worried I have not cleaned it enough. I am at the point where I think i have cleaned it enough and am planning to send it in very soon. The staff is very nice to deal with and can't wait to having it repaired.
Gotta love road trips with the Iolite.

Now its got short burst weak roars but it roars more often.
(also the roars are not as steady)
So far it hasn't seemed to affect performance of the Iolite,
but I am concerned about later down the road.

Best butane? Who would determine that? AFAIK there's no one that provides test results of all the butane brands, or even the well known brands. Even if there were, I'd bet that multiple brands would be determined to be of equal quality. If you'll take the time to even skim through this thread, you'll find high quality brands. After that, Google is a very good tool for finding the brand(s) you're interested in. In fact, you can use Google to find quality brands as well. Just search for 'best butane brands' or 'high quality butane brands'.

I'm 0 for 2 with no major problems, but I can't see you going wrong with any of those they recommend.

I've had my Iolite for a week now. I have found 2 great technics for using it. 1-For "one-hitter" style hits, take off the herb chamber, add a minute amount of your favorite herb in the actual "bowl" (the part with the heating pin) now put the herb chamber back in and fire it up. Hit it after the first firing, cut it off, and continue hitting it as the unit cycles out. 2-For "sessions" also pack the actual "bowl", (again, the part with the heating pin) almost to the top of the "bowl", now replace the herb chamber. Hit the first time after it cycles off, then wait to hit it till every other time it cycles off, hit it long and slow. I found that when you pack the herb chamber, a lot of the time it stays in there and never drops down on the bowl, this is usually when you see little or no vapor. A very important vap/Iolite tip..... grind up your herbs very very fine.
I had my almost like grains of sand and I got A LOT more bang for my buck.
Just enough to not fall through the screen is perfect.

just went back to the headshop, apparently there were a handful of defective units sold. The guy said he has gotten new units, and I should be able to pick mine up friday as long as Iolite signs off on it. Guy was pretty cool and said the the Iolite guys have been real cool about replacing the units. So hopefully Ill be up and running again on friday!
