I got a question to all SSV owners. Does you heating element give off an odor? This odor seems to come and go. For now ive been ignoring it, but i wanna know if this is a problem or if this is just natural? I've only combusted a few times accidentally, but the heater cover has been cleaned many times since so i know its not that. I cant describe the smell all i can tell you is that its almost like the heat given off by the element is the smell. Idk.. just a worry on my mind i want to put to rest. Can anyone else relate? Any odor?

Hi, just registered. I've had my Vapor Genie for about 3 weeks and was going to get a Vaporite box for $75 when I got my tax return, which arrived Monday. Thanks partly to you folks in this thread (mostly to Tokin's videos on Youtube) I ended up spending $169 instead on Da Buddha. I also have a mini whip coming from Vapor Bros but do you think it will work with the DBV? I didn't want to have to get a new heater cover but I suppose I could get one of those diffuser tops at the same time... Guess I'll wait and see how you make out, daddygreenjeans.
Anyway, thanks for the info and here's hopin' the USPS can get my DBV here by Saturday!

CHEERS!
PS: Tokin was active at stonerforums.com till 1/31/10

I did exctely the same. Got an iolite thinking I just wanted to "try" the vapo world and was so happy with it I ordered the SSV the next week. SSV is another story than the iolite, you'll see. Iolite is great
really I like it for going out. But the SSV :o.....
Don't worry their service is great an you should receive it fast ;)

About DBV's and the mini-wand... I'm not at all sure that it would work for the DBV. Not with the DBV's heatercover anyways, think it might be too big. I also have my doubts about a ssv heatercover on the dbv working. I sold my dbv b4 i got my ssv, so i could really compare them directly, but the ssv heater cover seems to be a bit taller than the DBV one was, even tho i'ts probably roughly the same diameter. I think if you put one on the dbv it wouldnt line up with the hole in the casing. I might be wrong though.

But one thing i can def say for sure is that the mini works great for ssvs with standard HCs. :brow: I've found the bowls that i pack in it are almost as small as a LB trench. The hits are so quickly delivered at lower temps, its amazing. Great for hash too with the herb-screen method. got like 20 great hits off a little bit of herb topped with a little bit of hash. set the bowl down for whatever reason (was playing AC2) and thought it was kicked. I pick it up and give it a try before i shut off my ssv to head out for the day and to my surprise i got about 6-10 more good hits. They didnt taste as great as the first 20, but they didnt taste like abv either yet, it was very neutral.

i dumped the bowl out and was amazed at how little got me vaked for about 3 hours. it really does turn the ssv into an efficient machine, on par with log vapes almost i'd say.

I read somewhere about someone manipulating the kind of high they got (stoned vs high) by using different temps. You know anything about that?
Marijuana has several active compounds called cannabinoids. Different cannabinoids produce different effects.

The high temperatures of combustion tend to destroy some of the lighter cannabinoids. Combustion also produces bad things such as carcinogens.

From what I've read, the human body sends antibodies to fight off the carcinogens immediately after they are ingested from smoking. This can produce a noticeable sensation which people associate with being high.

Vaporizing tends to result in a more energetic, cerebral buzz. Probably due to more THC and less of the heavier cannabinoids. Without the carcinogens you might also notice the lack of antibodies in action.

So yes, different temperatures can affect the buzz, and vaporizing does produce a slightly different one.

I suppose you could only lightly vaporize your herb before changing the bowl to further increase the concentration of light cannabinoids. And vice versa.

:science:
So does that mean you probbaly get more vape for your buck when you vape Sativas (Higher in THC) than when you vape Indicas (Higher in CBD). I noticed that all the Cannabinoids dont volatize until you are right at the verge of combustion especially CBD?
Maybe thats why when I eat my ABV buds it adds more of a body stone to my high, because I am probably absorbing through my mouth whatever Cannabinoids that are left which did not vaporize due to their higher flash point. I think Im onto something here. Maybe thats why higher vaping temps give more of a body high, because CBD are the last things to volatize before the cellulose starts to combust.

Mine doesn't give off an odor at all. I had accidentally combusted a few times myself when I was getting to know the vape; it didn't give off an odor at all.

Cheers! I woke up at 9:30am, showered and made it to the post office at 10am. My mail lady hadn't left so I got my Da Buddha 4 hours early~!!!!! I've been enjoying it all day. My o'clocks are between midnight and 1am. I spent the afternoon helping a friend build a chicken coop and taking big hits off DBV in the back yard(long lead cord). Then I watched some young chickens play in the garden. oh yeah, I took the day off to celebrate... I don't think I'm even gonna need the mini whip, the stock DBV one is small enough. We'll see tho...:ko:

excellent selection man :D I love topping my herb bowls with a little hash. I just flatten it on top and get a ton of hits w/o even having to stir. When the hash hits get thin and not so good anymore i stir it in with the herb and continue to vape away. :brow:

I have a heater setting question. I know this has been covered but i wanted to double check...

Here is a pic of the ssv and i show where i start vaping at *usually about 3-5 hits per spot*, then where i step the heat up to two more times before i cash the wand. I also show how far the knob turns at max. Are these spots good? Is the 4th spot too hot? Is it almost at combustion?

P.S. this isnt my ssv, i grabbed the pic off google

Umm, my guy didn't get back to me as he usually does, ASAP. So I have nothing and I start reading these forums. Many mentioned that the standard 3ft cords are not necessary and even inefficient. So i cut about a foot off cleanly with a carpenter's knife - razor (the part with the most resin/THC). I then proceed to cut the most resinated end off (good amount of stuff after a year of mostly chronic), open it up and rake a single Zig-Zag. So I end up having to use all of it just to clean off 1/2 of the tube. I then did the other 1/2. From there I proceeded to burn off as much paper as possible on both. Smoked (not vaped for once) the 1st never ending bowl and am wasted (high tolerance alert).

I then proceed to order a VB mini

Looks pretty close to how i set mine. Don't worry about that highest position, i've vaped with my knob higher than that w/o combustion, as long as you work the bowl and dont let the stream on one spot for too long. In fact, it was pretty much necessary when i was using the standard sized bowl, in order to fully vape smaller loads that are far away from the heatercover. but with mini whip i've found my min/max knob positions to be about 2 "hours" lower.

@wellfleation thats cool, i've thought about cleaning out my tubing too. i'd have to scrape it with something and smear it on some bud to vape tho.

So, Hi all........

This post is mainly pointed towards the Vaporists in the UK. I love the SSV use one over in the States, who, where, how quick, could I buy one in the UK not going the ebay route want GG, more shops in and around London or Brighton, but could go elsewhere. Or is it really ship from USA/Canada (suggestions?) and pay shipping and import duties, what is it even classed as to customs if that's the case, anyone know of what the extra duties might cost or have had orders held (heavens for bid) by customs.

There is no vaporizer that I know of that is better???? unless someone can tell me otherwise and why.

Some varied feedback would be good, so I have a few options.

The motto around here is that there is no best vape, and it's true. The SSV is known to be great at what it does and is definitely one of the best vapes, but obviously it's not a pocket unit, and it certainly draws attention to itself, which you may or may not want. (I don't have the SSV myself, but it's the next on my list - especially after reading about the mini-wand.)

Check the 'things to consider when purchasing your first vaporizer' thread

The actual know position is somewhat inexact. I replaced a cracked knob and asked 7th Floor about the knob position. They said "we install them with "off" at about 7-8 o'clock. This is just approximate.

As mentioned elsewhere, the heater covers are all a bit different, so the heating element aligns in a slightly different way with the heater cover in every unit. Your positions look fine, but I would not sweat the actual positioning because every unit is a bit different

I have burned my whip load at lower heat settings when using a drier material with kif topping....and I have had my unit almost full-on with a nice load of resinous bud material and have not burned it. It depends on the material and the way you are drawing your hits too.

I have the Vapor Bros mini whip and like it better than the original. But in thinking of ways to have an even smaller bowl I got to thinking there is a lot of glass chillums/one hitters that could have a plastic hose stuck on it and it might make a good SSV "one hitter" vape wand. Here is a link with just one such example.

http://www.rollies.com/Pipes/View.php?SerialNum=RED-301-FUMED

I think a lot of em would work but the best design would allow for a screen and would have a flared lip to allow for a good seating with the heat cover. One with a thin but deeper bowl would be better too, because you wouldn't want the herb touching the heater cover. A funneled end to attach the hose on is a plus too.

I kinda thought about something even smaller than the mini wand too, but after using it for a while i really can't say that i need it. putting a 1/3-1/2 load in the mini is about what i need, if it was much smaller i might be getting near having to do multiple bowls per session. i'm very happy with the size of the thing.

Also, i just recently cleaned out my mini wand for the first time. I've only had it since last monday (i think) and have put about 1/4 through it, along with some wandhash from when i cleaned my standard wand out after the mini arrived.

Scrapinggs def not an option for this, and doing an .iso rinse+evap isnt quite as easy as w/ a standard wand, but very doable. The main issue is that the bottom opening is too narrow to pour the iso into, unless you have the iso in a bottle with a really narrow nozzle. So what i recommend is, before you take your tubing off the wand to clean it, blow it out real good and then turn your ssv up to high temp and hold it up and take a few quick empty hits to help clear the screen. This way you can plug the skinny hole and pour the iso into the bowl end and it wont take forever to seep down through the screen. I found that drumming my fingers lightly on the side of the bowl helped make it go down faster. about 3 bowls full of iso should be enough. shake itt around like mad for a while and then dump it into a flat glass pan, let it evap and scrap it up with a blade of some sort.

Thanks Steiner666 & Budmeister, i have yet to turn mine up all the way, maybe i should try this so i can experience what burning the weed is like so i know the point i need to stay away from. I usually get good hits and im def not burning it but i feel like i may be wasting some thc. The other day i packed a huge bowl of ABV and i got a bunch of hits at the 1st and 2nd positions...odd. Anyways, thanks!

I have turned my ssv all the way up without combustion. I think, though, that if I had it turned all the way up and had the wand filled close to the top that it would combust.
