My MFLB power adapter stopped working - it still creates a current but it seems as if the battery part of it has expanded the ring inside the box (from heat I guess) and now, the ring feels loose or like it is disappearing beyond the wood, or just about flush with the wood.

When I put a normal AA battery in the box it still works (thank god!) but the power adapter has become more and more loose the more I have used it, like the battery on it is shrinking!

Either the PA battery is shrinking (going thinner with use) or the metal ring inside the box is expanding from the heat, making it looser.

Like I said an AA battery still fits and touches the metal ring inside the box enough so it works. With the power adapter it worked perfectly for a few weeks (it was as tight as a battery) but now it feels really loose. I have even tried wedging it with foil and it just doesn't conduct anymore.

Back to batteries for me and I haven't got a clue how to fix this, even a replacement PA won't fix it unless the PA battery is actually thicker and can't do this, or it will just do this again and end up too loose to work.

I did notice it stop working about a week ago but it worked again straight away, then it has got worse to the point where it feels really loose and won't work at all, I used to be able to wiggle it about a little bit and it worked, but now it does not matter how I angle it in the slot, there is no chance of it making a connection! It is so loose I can freely spin the box around on the battery.

If I get a replacement it will be the same as this so I don't know what to do.

I agree with everything here EXCEPT the number of hits and quality, i got 25-30 hits before taste went downhill on pax, and good full vapors with a pleasant taste when starting at each temp. i remember on MFLB, taste degrades very quickly after first few hits. ( i have not tried the PA, but with the one temp the battery supplies (dropping strength as battery loses power) but again this is more from memory, as i have no used MFLB lately.

OVerall of course the MFLB will conserve more if you are low tolerance and want to get feeling for least material possible, sometimes however the time required is just simply not available, and where pax comes into play, still much slower than home devices, but gets the job done in a stealth manner thats easily overlooked, people think im sucking on a mp3 player of something

Well we are discussing taste so there's no definitive truth, but my experience with the two is 180° from yours. The Pax deteriorates more quickly and I am pretty sure that has to do with heating between hits, which of course the LB doesn't do. I'm not going from memory. I have them both in front of me and I have done direct comparisons.

Report your problem to Magic-Flight. Both the PA and the LB have lifetime warranties that should cover you.

I've had an accident like that and you're condemned to three or four trenches with that awful taste. Don't bother doing more ISO scrubs, they don't help after the first one. You just have to be patient and suffer through it. The taste always goes away as far as I know. There are many reports of this in the thread.

I think the correct ratio is 3-1. Even if you packed it down (which you definitely should not) the LB trench only holds about .1g. The Pax, packed down, holds about .3g of the same stuff. The Pax exposes way more surface area to the heating surface, so when you draw you are vapourizing a lot more material than when you hit the LB. This is why the LB takes you longer and why the Pax delivers thick vapour.

Whether the Pax approaches the LB in conserving your stash depends largely on how you use your vapourizer. If you sit down and do hit after hit until you are zonked, then the Pax will get you there faster but will use more weed. If you take one or two hits and wait for the effects, not taking another hit for 15-20 minutes, then the LB will consume less than the Pax. That's because you waited. Vapour doesn't hit as fast as smoke, and most people would use less weed if they took 2-3 hits and stopped until they felt it. Chain-hitters are likely to overshoot and use more.

If you need .3g to reach your objective then the Pax will get you there faster. If you don't, the Pax will use up your stash faster. I can get 15-20 decent hits from a trench, so 45-60 from .3g, but if I load the Pax once I'm lucky if I get 15 hits even stepping up low-med-high. Since a Pax hit doesn't get me higher than 3 LB hits, the way I vapourize means the Pax is a lot less efficient in conserving my weed.
That is a good observation of what I also believe. The pax sounds fantastic, but it is pretty obvious it uses three times that of a launch box, so is it really that much better? I don't think so.

Since posting above I got the PA to work again. :smug:

Thing is I haven't got a clue how.

I just pushed it in and out over and over again (out of frustration) with the button pressed in all the time (trying to make it connect, just to see the light flash on once) and it somehow works again if I angle it in right.

I know its not getting gunked up around the ring, thats another issue that can occur if you are tipping the box back and can be dealt with by not tipping it that way when vaping!

People always ask how to clean the inside out... well I dunno because I just wouldn't dare try to clean that part of the box even with a solvent or anything, but if you have a PA you can set it to max temp and heat up the box for a few minutes, carefully suck air as you would vaping, but harder until you see a line of resin go down the tube. DO NOT SUCK SO HARD YOU GET RESIN IN YOUR MOUTH! That isn't the aim, I just suck it half way down and the other trick is once that gets really thick, turn the tube around and start on the next bit of tube building the resin up again. You can end up with it black with resin and its all drained from the box keeping the box clean. Now just smoke or vape yes vape that resin... in the MFLB! You can put the resin on a rizla, it won't combust and OMG you get one hell of a lot of vapor from that stuff, or smoke it, wow you get a kick up the ass when you smoke that stuff. Think, you smoking (fastest way to get high) the most potent form = super mega ultra high super super fast.

This way you can "drain off" the resin from the box in such a way that the box will never get blocked up. Make sure to have the PA on highest so you melt the most resin off. Or waste a full battery doing it. :p

Something similar happened to one of my boxes and it seemed like the inner metal ring contact was just not making a good connection with the battery/PA. I flipped the box over onto a towel on my desk and put a flat head screwdriver on the ring contact and pushed down really hard. I believe someone else used a coat hanger. Once the ring was a bit tighter, the power worked much better. Even some older batts that I thought were toast... Worked.

Good luck.

mod note: Edited to fix quoting.

Hey FC
Long time reader and magic flight user but just now made an account here. So I got my PA 2 days ago and it's great but I feel like there might be something off about it. I have a few questions that I haven't gotten answers to on Grasscity which i mostly use, so I'm turning to you guys!

First thing I noticed was that the battery doesn't fit snugly. By this I mean compared to another normal battery that stays fit snug, the PA battery surrogate just sort of slips out. Also I'm wondering if I'm not getting the full amount of power; The light is turning on and goes from dim to quite bright as I move the dial. Does this mean everything is OK in there or could there still be an issue. Thirdly, the pushback ring. Should I take the pushback ring out? Since it would make more space for the PA "Battery"? Any answers appreciated thanks.

Howdy, welcome to the fun here!

I've found batteries are often not all that round, if you turn them they have 'high spots', not so the PA. It's snug to 'easy to slip in' on different boxes (I have 3....). The light is a great key. If it stays at the same level as you rotate the adapter and goes from dimmer than a normal battery to brighter you're good to go.

The ring is your call, notice the center pin on the adapter is spring loaded and long enough to make contact without fighting the push back ring. You don't really have to compress the push back ring to make it work. Your call, but I leave mine in since it'd be a big mistake to leave it out and grab a couple of batteries and head out the door.......

I say enjoy the PA, I'm sure you'll love it.

Hi,

The light should change as your moving the dial. The dial controls delivered power, and the light brightness reflects the current level of power the box is receiving. With the dial, you can have either 1/2 (half) battery power, or the equivalent of 1 and one half battery power, or anything in between. This effectively controls how much heat is in the Box, and thus your draw rate and technique.

You should not need to remove the push-back ring to use the PA.

For the most part, at a given dial setting, the brightness of the light should remain constant, as long as you are pressing on the switch in the end of the battery plug. If the brightness of the light varies while leaving the dial alone and holding the button, then there is probably a need to tighten the negative contact ring on the Box. In this case, you can try to tighten it yourself, or you can have us do it under the warranty process.

Thanks for the reply. The battery makes a good contact and the light stays steady even while moving the PA battery surrogate around. However since the PA surrogate seems to be too small in diameter it slips out and sometimes it can cause the connection to be faulty and I need to press on the battery surrogate. The battery slipping out is kind of annoying, I like how the batteries stay in there. Would removing the pushback ring help at all by giving the PA Surrogate more room to go into the box? Thanks

No. If you look at the PA battery surrogate, you'll see that the nipple is extended more than on a normal AA battery. This is to allow it to make contact without being affected by the pushback ring. Removing the ring therefore won't make any difference.

OK how about the issue about it slipping out though. Does yours do that?

picked up a used mflb from a friend and just exchanged the warranty to me. I love how great the service is for it and how well it works! A great one person hitter for sure and now know what everyone was talking about! Just learning up on it now with cleaning and getting every kind a tip i can find!

One of mine does, two do not. No big deal, as long as the contact is good (normal light on the bulb). You can tighten it up a bit if you'd like (or have MF do it for you under warranty), but be careful you don't want to goof up battery fit.

OF,
Hey everybody. Just wanted to chime in again and say I used my MFLB again last night again. Stepped outside, enjoyed a quick but powerful session, and came inside to sit stroking my leg hair for 20 minutes. I love this thing. Then after that I couldn't fall asleep, so I had another session and fell asleep nice and quick. Cheers everybody!

Howdy! Thanks for the glowing report. I hope you don't think you're alone it that, though. Not really 'preaching to the choir' but getting mighty close.

For such a simple looking (almost primitive) thing, it's a stellar performer and very impressive in the details IMO. A well though through product from folks that care about how well it works for you. And me, come to think on it.

Thanks again, and enjoy it. It was made to be used you know.

HA! You should see the things I find myself doing, in the middle of a MFLB session. I don't know why... but its the one vape, I just suddenly come out of this spacey place and think to myself, "@#$%... I am STONED!".

I don't know why it is, either. Hell my HI hits me upside the head, with the MMJ stick. My VB, takes you on a leisurely boat ride, to oblivion. The MFLB, I find myself someplace, holding a picture of OF (oddest thing, he's with a monkey) wondering why, where and who I am and that I'm extremely stoned.

Just a friendly word of warning, don't loan that monkey any money! And whatever you do, don't go out drinking with him.......

Trust me on this, don't press me for details.

Hi everyone. I have had my MF for just about 9 months now and it has quickly become one of my favorite toys. Tonight however, I just notices that it seems that one of the corners/ edges on my trench have come loose. The whole side of the trench can be easily moves while the other side is still nice and tight. It still seems to work ok, i just noticed it while cleaning it out, but I might have noticed a bit less vapor than normal.

Has anyone dealt with this problem before? Would this be something covered by the warrenty?

You got pics?

No but after a second and much closer look, I think it is fine. But I did notice that all of the four corners/creases of the inside of my trench seem to have a little space. between the small rhombus shape and the big rhombus shape.

Yeah, that's what I figured it was. The screen is like an origami, its one big folded piece of screen. So those flaps are cool. Just make sure to take care when cleaning the trench, that around those creases, to go with "the grain", brushing over, instead of against. You can also take something like a pencil eraser and LIGHTLY work on pushing it back down.

I've had it happen to my screen on occasion. Just working it out, over the course of weeks, to a month... has taken care of it. Now, if it were separating someplace else... you would have a potential problem.

Nope that's probably exactly what it is. Thanks for the info BDV, I was scared I would have to be without it if I had to send it back in. One corner does look worse than the others but I don't think its a tear now. I'll probably give it a good cleaning tomorrow before I try to manipulate it back into place.
