guessing those mosfet's are of a different order than what i'm seeing used in e-cig's - lol

thanks for the response, so the current control keeps the heating element from turning into a curl of ash

i still wonder about the trade off of having huge cap instead of smaller cap and batteries, but i should just run the config tool myself since i'm so interested

i have an image of more layers of mesh, but understand there really isn't cold air getting by the mesh because it's radiating heat in every direction, not just heating the air that passes through it

i still wonder about the trade off of having huge cap instead of smaller cap and batteries

I looked into using a bunch of smaller caps with and without batteries, and any other configuration I could come up with would end up being more expensive. The current setup represents the best cost/function ratio that I could possibly come up with. But I am always open to new ideas and suggestions :)

i have an image of more layers of mesh

I am currently experimenting with a setup involving more mesh and/or layers of mesh to increase durability of the heater. If you check out the development pics I posted a little earlier you can see one of the previous heaters that used a vertical mesh folded sort of like the letter the "Z". However this heater used up more energy and didn't transfer the heat as well. The newest version of the heater positions a small square of mesh horizontally (better "mesh to air" heat transfer) just a few millimeters below the screen, much closer to the herb (more efficient "air to herb" heat transfer). However to get the required electrical resistance and still have it fit in the chamber the mesh is bent into a "C" shape rotated right 90 degrees.

Do anybody have any new info about the Boost Ultra Vapor System? Is the product still in beta?
Have anybody used the system before? I'm very interested in this vaporizer and if anybody have any new info about this product, it would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Thanks Max,
I email the manufacturer earlier and haven't gotten a reply as of yet. So i was wondering have anybody else have gotten in contact with the manufacturer or have any new updates about the Boost Ultra Vape System.

Since Scripto23 is posting here, it's not likely that you'll get any better or more up to date info from anyone else.

Wow! That vape looks intense....it also looks suspiciously like a computer PSU strapped to a car stereo capacitor ;)

Hmmm, looks like some kind of bomb to me lol. Btw is that a computer power supply you're using?

Reminds me of a cartoon time bomb. and/or a Frankenstein product of different parts for other things put together to make something else. I love it and look forward to your progress.

Sorry for lack of updates guys. Despite not posting I have been working on fine tuning the finishing details on the unit. Earlier in the summer during some intense stress testing I managed to burn through the mesh stainless steel screen and therefore had to develop a better alternative. To replace the mesh I went with solid strand stainless steel wire which so far under similar testing conditions has shown a great improvement.

I have also been tweaking the heating algorithm which is crucial not only for instantaneous heat up but also for maintaining a consistent temperature whether the unit is on the first hit or after a long vaping session.

So while this has taken longer than expected it is because I am not trying to create just any vaporizer, I am trying to create the perfect vaporizer, and thus before I sell a single unit the design must meet my vision for this. I am still in alpha testing but if everything continues at this rate I expect to begin selling units within 2 months, or before Christmas at the absolute max.

Also for you guys saying it looks like a bomb, yeah, there's no amount of money that you could pay me to try take this through airport security

Oh, how could I forget the other most important addition! A first for any vaporizer, the BOOST ULTRA will include a built in science grade automatic magnetic stirring apparatus. A small pyrex glass or teflon coated magnetic bar will reside in the vaping chamber and once the unit has detected that you have finished your hit and removed the tube from your lips, it will commence a quick stir of the herbs by rotating the magnetic bar for two seconds. I have found that this improves the quality of the hit tremendously as it maintains consistent vaporization throughout your herbs without having to shake it up or remove the tube to manually stir your herbs.
EDIT: I should also just clarify that since this is magnetic, no physical connection is needed between the stirrer and the main unit meaning the bowl still comes out and goes in just as easily as before.

You may sell it apart ... as a diy vaporizer :).(bomb) .. and divide the parts in two different packages as bombers do :p.

Updates!

1) You guys asked for it, so here is a ground glass (standard 18mm) vaporizer to bong adapter. The picture below doesn't include the activation wire (not that it would be visible anyway), but it would look like and work in the same way the other original breathing hose would. This means that to fill the bong with vapor and hit it, you would just use your finger to touch the glass elbow that is connected to the down stem of the bong, almost as if you were holding an imaginary lighter to it.

2) Secondly, after much work I have decided to move on from the algorithm controlled heat curve. I will instead be installing a "no touch" infrared heat reading sensor below the heating element to regulate temperature. I could just not get the algorithm to be as exact and precise as I wanted it to be under varying conditions: ambient room temp, multiple hits in a row, etc. In other words, rather than solely software/math controlled heating it will have real time input from a physical sensor. The advantages of an infrared temperature sensor is that it doesn't need to be touching the heating element and thus is out of the path of the intense heat is needed for vaporization. Also they are very precise and extremely quick to react to the quick heat up of the BOOST ULTRA's heating element. The disadvantage is that they are relatively expensive, though I do not expect this to impact the final sale price of the unit.

Yes, here's an update! And a new 1 minute video of the updated unit!

I've been using the newest edition of the Boost Ultra over the past few months as well as collecting information from a few beta testers. I successfully implemented the infrared temp sensor which also now displays instantaneous real-time temp accurate to within half a degree (the top left number in the corner of the lcd screen in the video). The vape is performing spectacularly, it really became everything I wanted it to be :). The beta testers have loved the promptness of the rapid heater and the "anytime availability" of vapor. Also they've all really liked how the sheer uniqueness of the unit really blows people away.

Damn this device looks crazy. Pretty soon there's gonna be vapor closets where you just step inside and it instantly engulfs you in vapor clouds.

I've been pretty busy with real work, so updates have been pretty sparse, probably why the thread's been flying under the radar :/ .

As for public release, I've determined that it will be best for these to be made to order. So I can now sell them publicly starting anytime! I expect it to take less than 4 weeks from order date to ship date.
