Puffco Peak

There’s always the distinct possibility that my opinion is 100% true. It’s amazing what people are determined not to believe. Puffco themselves admits the ceramic in the device smells when heated. Puzzling why anyone else is denying it.
Right or wrong, your attitude still tells everyone here exactly who you are ;)

People who deny their device smells like ceramic are showing everyone exactly who they are. I trust my nose. And Puffco’s confirmation doesn’t hurt. Your indignant claim that the device does not smell does not pass the sniff test.

Must be nice to have such a sensitive nose/taste buds. I can't half smell much anything anymore unless it's a very strong odor or something. Tell you what, @PhreedomPhries , go dance in the desert and get some good whiffs of bodies that have been laying in the sun for a few days. Willing to bet that ceramic won't even cross your mind when you hit that $400 Puffco after.

I am looking forward to receiving the quartz inserts in the mail in the next couple days

Praise the fucking lord and pass the butter beans.

:bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

For the truly solipsistic, its impossible to believe in any reality other than the one between their two ears.

This "debate" is therefore a waste of time.

Now, where is that ignore button?

You are going to great lengths to try to convince yourself that the device does not smell. Who is solipsistic? You’re denying what Puffco themselves admit. Too funny.

Btw, this was my explicitly clear message I sent to them, to which they replied, yeah, the insert and heating plate both smell of ceramic when heated:

“Hi

I got a Peak and notice the ceramic has a very strong pronounced odor when heated. Others are swearing up and down 7 ways to Sunday that their devices do not emit a ceramic odor. I’d like to request replacement ceramic cups, as people are telling me I must have faulty ceramic that is to blame for the smells I am experiencing.”

They won’t even send me replacements, because they know damn well they all smell like ceramic. It’s not a bug, it’s a feature!!

Ceramic smells like ceramic??? No way?? I bet you Titanium smells like titanium too when you heat it up with nothing else on it. I bet you your grill smells like stainless until you put the steak on it. Does something having its usual, non offensive odor mean it is defective? No, Just means it is made of said material.

And in this case, it’s more pronounced than I would expect and is offensively pronounced! I own numerous other ceramic based vapes and enjoy them thoroughly. Though not any that are dab nails. And to think a whole bunch of people are trying to claim it doesn’t have an odor at all. But yeah no kidding. Ceramic smells of ceramic. Who would have imagined! Not all the people arguing against me.

I'm saying if there is a slight ceramic smell, I dont notice it. I also have made it a habit not to dry fire vapes. I been doing this since like 2013. Dry firing is definitely never a good idea.

Edit: I actually ordered my quartz cup before my peak arrived. Only used the ceramic 1 or 2 times. Never noticed anything. Also use a divine tribe ceramic atty and notice nothing there either.

For example, the EVO is inherently always on. Hence, the equivalent of always being dry fired. And it doesn’t have a smell. This is precisely why I am saying to dry fire the Peak to compare. The Peak smells of ceramic heavily as soon as it’s up to temperature. That smell does not magically go away when oil is loaded. It MIXES with the taste of the oil. Which is precisely why I say it causes all the sensitive bright terpene notes to be muddled. Because it does. It absolutely compromises the terp profile of all strains. Particularly bright Sativa notes. If you don’t recognize it it’s because you’re not paying attention not because it’s not happening. Puffco admits it. And it’s nowhere close to comparable to the taste of a low temp quartz hit.

IMO you have stretched Puffco's response far beyond their meaning in order to support your assertion that not only does the ceramic smell but that it does so strongly and objectionably, which I do NOT believe Puffco has agreed with you about.
No sense in beating a dead horse :uhoh: lol , I'm with ya on this 1 though .

Misconstruing Puffco’s admission does not change the smell. It smells of ceramic. It’s enough to adulterate the taste of your dabs that run through it. It’s silly to try to argue that something that noticeably and admittedly smells of ceramic is not going to change the taste of whatever you’re inhaling off it. Sorry, it does.

You're simply hypersensitive to ceramic my dude, no need to overthink it. There's a lot of people on this board sensitive to all sorts of different things in vapor. If your sensitivity is ceramic, that alright, it's not for you, but you've said what you needed to say on that matter, lets stay chill before the mods get here and have to start playing clean up.

Everything you say about this Peak has been said by others about other ceramic atomizers. You're really not alone, but realize only a minority will be as sensitive to ceramic as you. For others, it's metal, or silicone, or wood, or all sorts of other things in the vapor path. Lets be respectful of each others sensitivities and recognize that we all are a little different here.

For me, temperature controlled draws off my Divine Tribe V3 ceramic donut are still probably the best tasting dabs I've EVER had, and I have a SiC Halo, e-nail powered HE Gavel, etc. Taste is subjective - it's normal to have different opinions on what tastes better.

I don't have a Peak, but I have no idea what ceramic smells like. I've got lots of ceramic vapes but have never associated a smell with them. Isn't it neutral?

Wow, so glad I hopped on that ignore bandwagon the other day.

Thanks , I was told not to give cost by the seller but if interested message kxbglass on instagram and tell him I sent you and I am sure he would be happy to provide a discount.
Those are really nice, and I'm sure worth the asking price given the amount of work and care put into them, but I simply cannot justify spending that much for a new glass piece for this device. Guess I'll just keep holding out hope that something shows up on DHgate soon

Ty man. I agree. The Peak alone was pricey. I normally would not spend so much but I got Vas , wanted to try it and don't feel so bad as I sold a few things I had around that I was not using to offset some of the cost. If not for that I most likely would have not got the Peak at all as imo it really needs to be half the retail price. The glass hits nice though , way better than the stock glass . I was not to happy with the stock glass being into glass myself it just feels cheap and is somewhat annoying to fill for me as I get the mouth splash sometimes. To bad its the only piece that will fit in the travel case. I'm sure China will make something soon. Well most likely be seeing Peak clones with digital displays for under $75 shortly. Then I will feel really bad for what I spent .

You've made your point abundantly clear that you dislike the taste of your Peak. However it's time to move on as the subject is highly contentious as evidenced by the posts to the contrary of yours. If anyone wants to discuss whatever ceramic taste the Peak has/doesn't have, please do so via PM but spare the rest of the readers from this :horse:.

Thank you.

Good call. The matching carb cap is a nice touch as well, it really looks like a huge upgrade.

Now that I finally have a working Peak again, I realized I really dislike the stock glass as well. I hardly use it anymore now that I have a Switch. I think a glass upgrade will persuade me to keep the Peak in rotation.

I actually got my credit card to force a refund after the terrible experience I had with Puffco. They never asked me to send the unit back, so I technically got to keep the device for free. That said, I still wouldn't want to spend upwards of $250 on glass for a device that could stop working again at any moment :\
