At first I thought that I had misplaced it, but I couldn't find it anywhere. He's stolen it before and I eventually found it in his basket of toys. He's had an obsession with it for some time. He ignores my other stems, but he loved that Blackwood. Only that Blackwood. He's not interested in my Dynavap Blackwood body at all, just my Phattpiggie Square.

I began keeping in a burl box when not in use, but I got lazy and left it out one day. Now it's gone.

I've checked all his hiding places, his basket of toys, the favorite spot the basement. I've looked under the human beds and the cat beds. No Blackwood stem nowhere, nada. I checked his food dish, under the counters, under rugs. Nothing but crumbs and fluff.

This crime has placed a wedge between us. Sure, he still cuddles up with me and bares his tummy for rubs. He purrs and looks longingly with feigned innocence into my eyes. But I know and he knows he took it. If he brings it back all will be forgiven.

In the meantime I have a stunning Snakewood replacement. It WILL be kept out of sight when not in use. I couldn't hear for a second square to go missing.

I can imagine a hockey game where Caleb zings your Blackwood stem into an unlikely place difficult to even see. If you don't find it sooner it will turn up when you move. Keep looking.

Just got my Omni. Glad @Squiby had filled me in before I got it as, man, it is very difficult to turn the condenser/mp even after disassembling. Sometimes the mp even flicks off the stem when turning as it's that tight.

So when you are turning the condenser/mp, is there a "stop" at either end? Seems you can just continue to spin clockwise/counterclockwise even after its all the way open or closed. Just curious if this is the way its intended to work or if this one is slightly off.

Yeah, that was my first thought. I think I have one of those somewhere. If not, I wonder if copper is safe...as in the old-school copper crack-pipe Brillo Pads that you can still get at corner stores, suspiciously near the glass-roses (lol. I used to live near a corner-store that sold them together in a little paper bag)?

I did just sandwich a small dab worth in some herb in my Ti tip with cap on a woodscents stem, and I'm having lots of fun with that.

There's no stop for the omni if you adjust the airflow completely choked. The condenser will come out of the threads and you will have to push it from the tip side back into the mouthpiece to thread it back in. When you adjust the air wide open the condenser will butt up against the mouthpiece threads. Usually it will unscrew without a problem but I find that it can stick from time to time.

I honestly don't find myself changing the settings on my Omni that often anymore. I've switched over to visually adjusting the air by looking at the gap between the condenser flange and the shoulder of the mouthpiece. This is usually when I'm done cleaning or I'm swapping the Omni from stem to stem.

Man I keep losing the ccd screen! And they are rather expensive, especially the titanium ones. I could kick myself. Looks like I'll be using a basket screen for a while again.

Holy shit. Since learning to use this properly I haven't used my Cloud Evo once (which was my daily driver at home).

I'm amazed how you can keep reheating it many times and it never combusts, as long as you listen out for the clicks. I find it quite conservative in terms of not roasting the hell out of your herbs, right to the edge of combustion. The output is generally lighter in colour than what my Cloud evo produces for instance.

Also I'm beginning to appreciate the genius of the design. That spiral pattern on the tip - the way that forms a silly-straw-shaped channel when the cap is on, to make a nice heat exchange for the air - beautiful.

This has probably been posted to death already, but does anybody have more info about how the click mechanism works? As far as I can see, there appears to be a disc of metal lodged in the end of the cap, held in place by a small tapered notch in the cap's diameter. Does the heat make it expand or something?

I actually get a darker abv (usually) because i prefer it.
Just heat near the bottom of the cap and keep heating ~1 sec after the click! Meaning you can customize the heat, and thus the abv colour

I believe @Hippie is right about the discs.

If you are losing CCD screens because they go flying to parts unknown when you remove them, here's a trick that might help.

When you want to remove a CCD screen from your tip, place the tip top down on a towel. Hold it securely as you use a condenser or other tool to push down on the screen through the neck of the tip. The screen will pop out of the tip, onto the towel but still trapped by the tip. Lift the tip off the towel and the screen will be sitting there nicely without flying away.

It uses the same principle as the signal lights on your car.

There are two bimetal disks (one is a redundant fail safe feature) enclosed in the cap. As the cap is heated, the disks buckle, creating a clicking noise. As they cool they snap back creating another cooling click.

It is only after one has used the VapCap for a while that the genius of the design becomes apparent. Nothing like dugout bats that are just a metal tube, these devices are highly engineered to channel the vapor and the heat efficiently with a cap that acts as a ready alarm. And unlike many of the battery vapes it isn't as likely to be copied or the tech borrowed because the equipment needed to fabricate them is a big commitment. Ask SDS, and he is mostly producing stems which is the "easy" part. (Easy only in comparison, no disrespect)

These guys pretty much steer clear of all my vapcap and all 420 stuff, but the way they act often makes me check my stash to make sure they've not gotten into it. It's my hair ties that I find in their food, beds, and other hiding places.

This is scene I was greeted with from my bed this morning. My life would be far less enjoyable without them in it.

Charlie is the gray tabby, Gidge is the ginger tabby, and Jo is the tuxedo. Sisters from Puerto Rico. Charlie is a bit of an odd duck, but sweet as can be, Jo is a dog trapped in a cat's body, and Gidge is pure feline through and through and batshit crazy-just the way she's supposed to be.

And since today seems to be cat day, here's a song I wrote for the original Tres Hombres Cisco, Hobie, and Clarence my first cat family.

Does it work with heat in car blinkers? I guessed that it was a relay clicking on or off, with electric pulses.

The capclick is such a nice system, the 2 metals need to be carefully selected for it to work, so far pretty clear,but does the size of the disk matters as well?
Coming to my point: if size influences the temperature of clicking, it is not possible to make a larger, bigger tip and cap?

My limited understanding is, yes, using electricity. This is what I've gleaned from the world wide web.

Current flows through a resistive wire, heating up a small piece of spring steel, which heats up enough that it expands and straightens out a larger, curved piece of spring steel. This forces the curved spring steel into the contact so that current flows to the signal lights unimpeded by the resistor. With almost no current passing through the resistor, the spring steel quickly cools, bending back away from the contact and breaking the circuit. The cycle then starts over. This happens at a rate of one to two times per second.

Same principle as the cap's temperature indicating bimetal disks. Heat the cap and the contained discs buckle making a clicking sound. Then they click again as they cool and resume their original shape.

Thank you so much! Ι wasn't doubting their beauty but my own ability. They didn't translate the same way the Omni did with one light source. So I used two light sources for the Ms.

I love all those pics with the vapcap kitties! :love:

Oh, and I followed some of you guys' suggestion and I bought an aomai lighter. I was an idiot. This is exactly what I need for my quick work-hits. Absolutely discrete (doesn't give me away with the constant clicking like my other single torch lighters do) and it's very comfortable to use. I'm gonna be ordering a couple more! This time a colour of my choice... :doh:

I think these lighters are a @Squiby find, as far as I can remember, right?

The problem with making a larger tip and cap is that the ratio of surface area to volume starts to change, as well as the distance from the heat source (the walls of the tip) to the centre of the material. Even with the current size of tip and slow heating I run into the issue of my load near the walls of the tip get roasted first and the centre of the load is still fairly green. Perhaps it's my method of heating but I can only see this effect getting more pronounced as the diameter of the tip increases.

Something I've thought of is a vapcap with a spike or column down the centre of the tip or cap which displaces the load to the outer walls and makes for a more even cooking. This would make a larger tip possible and get around this issue.

I know it would contradict the lego aspect, but I'm just thinking out loud here.

I'm not so sure? I think it would just have to have the same o-ring section as the other tips and it would work with all of the vapcap system.
