Yeah vtac, im also not keen on helpin the man out with revenue on alcohol, gambling(F$#K i resent GST but that just reminds me i don't need that much in life lol) and other various rorts.

I think some variation in temp requirements and outcomes, maybe down to grinding or chopping the herb, playing around with

this could make the difference with various strains, things like gently drying your herb before grinding carefully( i take my

fresh out of the plastic baggy for a short time then store in 2 nice tins) It all works out, some times it just requires

experimenting to get this right. simple and convienient vaping may be to me,it's certainly not as staight forward as packin a

cone and hitin it with a bic, although i know what i want it's all about the TASTE baby.

I wouldn't put my mouth upto a car's exhaust pipe,"FUCK COMBUSTION"

Hey guys - I found this forum / thread a while back and recently jumped in and purchased an Extreme off of one of the Ebay sellers. Here is my experience a week into owning one -

This is my 3rd different model vap. I've gone from a basic to a better then to this one over the past few months. I think I have plenty of experience with vaps from the first two and unfortunately I am disappointed with laying out $280.00 for a vap that doesn't work as well as my previous two/cheaper vaps. ...

Don't get me wrong the design of the unit I think is great. It looks great and its very easy to load product. The remote is good as well, but here is a BIG problem - the temperature does not get hot enough. I must have a version 2 of this since it maxes out at 250C / 480ish F . I'll tell you right now these temperatures and not accurate in the least. I have to dial it to the max temp to get a semi-decent cloud, but that's after at least 10 minutes of warm-up and 2-3 bags of very little vap :|

With my two other vaps ( both of which I sold damn it :) ) 360F was the perfect temp. If you hit around 400F it would burn the product like you were smoking it in a bong. Again, the Extreme shows 480F and the cloud is VERY light...It takes 8 or so bags to turn the product brown. Yes its grounded up and yes I tried different grades of product...

Because of the temperature problem the effects aren't nearly as nice as the $100.00 vap I had ! To make matters worse I've e-mailed the eBay seller 3 times in the past 3 days and he still hasn't got back to me....

I don't know what my options are but wow would I hate to have to send this back or modify it myself to "fix" the temperature problem...

Hopefully it goes without saying,I make no embelishments and seek no favours or money from anyone, however i do expect(in a

modern world)to have honest business dealings around the world(not reality, i know scams everywhere. As i'm just a disability

pensioner, careing for my severely disabled mum on the sunshine coasT QLD Oz. I hear people with concerns, Opinions , And

problems, thats all good i came here to be informed, Entertained, make friends,And impart my experience. Too add i've had a

breakthrough of sorts with Post traumatic Stress disorder, since yesterday's mild and harmless psychotic disturbance,Preceeded

with a sess of 1/2 gram 6 to 8 bags(my best discription possible),If i'd been expecting it i would have been more comfortable

with it as i was barely able to function,Mum needed a new continence pad and needed things from the chemist, i was almost

incoherent(seriously had big trouble dealing with money thats fucked up man)@ trying to communicate with the pharmacist, by

the time i pedaled home(about an hour passed since consumption)my mind was clear, clearer than it had been for 10 yrs of PTSD

and pain(also magnetic matress cover is indisensible) iv'e cleaned up my act,My home is spotless and organised(not so for a

long time) it's goin to stay that way,(discretion of aromotherapy will give me peace of mind)I feel more attentive to my Mum

and more optimistic, @ this moment i feel confident my use of some herbs will decrease now,And over time and i'll enjoy as

many others as i can afford and or grow. vapor bags and whip on demand give me Freedom around the house doing tasks normally

undone, or just relaxing lyin on the matress with my dog sippin on a bag FREEDOM, being able to leave the machine on all day

and use within seconds(instant with whip)if the bowls packed. is great for me,I my extreme only lasts a few years i'll happily

replace it,if a better machine is on offer that does all this does ill look @ that.:D

I'll second that. Your warranty is with Arizer.com, not the dealer. If your unit had been DOA the dealer should replace it, but in your situation arizer is the way to go.

And if you'd thoroughly read the Extreme threads here, you'd know that the Extreme display doesn't show true vaping temp. You probably have the 2nd generation model, where the heat sensor has been moved closer to the bowl, but there's no guarantee, since Steve didn't provide any way to tell the 1st gen from the 2nd except for the temp reading.

As for your previous unnamed vapes, assuming those display temps were accurate is not wise either. 400 F will not burn your herb. It's a little high if you want really clean vapor, but if you were burning at that display temp, I can guarantee it was hotter than 400.

For any vape, judge your temp by the vapor you're getting and the color of your remains. Find the high and low points of your vaping range just like cooking food on the stove. Where does it start cooking and where does it burn?

Like ozwiz said, contact Steve at arizer and he'll fix you up.

I agree... it doesn't get hot enough out of the box. I have modified couple so far....

we need version 3 which will be the old temp controller and new sensor position.

Well I e-mailed arizer direct and I will see what they say. The eBay seller still hasn't even so much as replied to me in 4 days. That sucks...

I went over a buddies tonight and used one of my old vaps ( the portable one that has the metal discs - forgot the name ) and set it to 315 and it gave a vapor quality almost exactly like the Extreme maxed out at 480.. I really could care less how accurate the temp is that is shown on any vap - What I found is you want a vap that stays at a pretty constant temp and the ability to to get it hot enough to be able to burn it at the upper/max temp. I know you don't want to vap at near combustion temps, but at least when a vap gets this hot you can work your way backwards to find the perfect temp. The problem with the extreme is as I said before it just doesn't get close to hot enough. I needs to be able to get about 50 degrees hotter to be able to then work your way back down to a lower temp..

Maybe they designed it this way for warranty issues, but this 2.0 version is really set too low at max. The effect is much shorter and not as intense as the others that I could get perfect :( I hate to think I need to do a mod on a brand new product in order to get it fixed, thus maybe even voiding support/warranty.

actually...this problem is with your extreme not with The extreme....my unit gives me real thick vapor at 250C. and if i put it higher the plant material start to ignite.
Very sorry about your defective unit and hope that Steve gives to you a good solution!

I'm sure that if your extreme worked properly you already forgot your low-grade vapir(this is the name)instead of use it again :(

Thx for that post about the temps with the new models. I got min in the mail bout' 3 weeks ago and its max is 250C, so I was puzzled with the 350 max. I'm still experimenting, but finding that sativas do better with a higher burn temp. as compared to indicas. Oh by the way, I LOVE MY EXTREME VAPE (my bubbler is put away now).:p

Talon,
Are you giving your unit any warmup time? I find mine works best if I give it 20 minutes warmup time...10 minutes by itself and then another 10 minutes with my first loaded bowl on there.

I'm sure you are grinding your herbs since you have had other vapes before.

If you're grinding your herbs and giving your unit warmup time and still having these problems then I would have to guess you have a defective unit.

Here's an email I got from Arizer regarding the temp setting and the location of the sensor. I don't see anything here that hasn't already been pointed out at sometime here, but he does a great job of putting it all together at once.

"The Heat Sensor and Temperature topic is one we can't seem to win, it's a complex topic, easy to explain if I could show you and tell you in person, let me try and explain here the best I can...

First we had the units with the Sensor embedded inside the heater, as result the LCD display would go up to 350C, showing the 'true' or 'static' heater temperature. From an Engineer's standpoint they told me this was the best way to do it, a sensor lasts longer reading a static temp than a variable temp, it turns the heater on/off less. Customers didn't like that, they felt since other vape's on the market showed a temp closer to the 'actual' vaporization temp of herbs, then ours should too. In a lot of ways I agree, it's ideal if a vaporizer could show the 'exact' vaporization temp of the herbs, (none on the market do by the way).

Anyway, we moved the sensor so the LCD would show a temperature more in relation to what herbs vaporize at. (It's important to note that the Extreme's that had a max LCD temp of 350 and and the ones which show a max of 250 reach exactly the 'same' actual temperatures inside the bowl. The heater reaches the same range of 'actual' temperatures only the LCD shows a different reading.

Our Vaporizer is the first 2 in 1 Unit, Balloon or Whip, that works really well. We use two different temperature settings; a lower setting for the whip since the airflow is different, and a higher setting for the balloon because the air is moving conistently and faster so you require more heater, some people don't understand that. Some people really do think it's like a cruise control setting for a car, you set it at 80 and it's going to go 80 no matter what, uphill/downhill doesn't matter ... a vape isn't the same at all, there are variables, you can't expect to set it at 200C and get perfect vapor everytime, thick enough so it's effective, yet a low enough temp so it's not smokey or harsh, further some expect that no matter whether it's moist or really dry, or ground fine or coarse or regardless of what quality the herbs are that the vapor should be the same. You know as well as I do now after vaporizing for a while that this isn't possible.

For the max temps it's been a challenge too, we get as many people telling us that the Extreme gets too hot as we do not hot enough. Some think the maximum setting should produce a very light vapor, others want a really thick vapor. The answer is to experiment with each grade/kinds of herbs you have and use your favorite setting for each. Not getting hot enough is the hardest to deal with, you can't just tell the Customer to turn it higher to solve the problem. I personally feel the main reason for people saying this now is because they expect to be able to turn the unit on and blow a balloon immediately, if you do your first bag will be light, even when set it at 250C. Once the glass warms up it really holds the heat and you'll require a setting much lower than 250C. Problem is if we allow for a higher maximum temperature and once it's warmed up if you put really dry, finely ground herbs in there then they'll burn and stink up the balloon and hose and we then get complaints from that, LOL.

It's hard to please everyone, but we do try hard :)"

Hope you get this sorted out quickly. As previously mentioned, users have reported issues with the heater being too far away/close. Maybe Arizer is having some growing pains, seems like a quality control issue. Anyway, they sure haven't shown any customer service problems so you should be fine. Who is the ebay seller?

I see the dilemma of having users complain about the temp limitations either way. Maybe they could program in an unlock code or something. People don't like limits. :)

Yes - about 10 minutes to warm up and yes grounded all product :)

I've got to give credit where credit is due - I took the advice of a few and contact Steve directly, which I did and he responed within a few hours. This morning I wake up and he told me a new one is already on its way, which is very impressive.

I did explain everything to Steve and he did say it sounded like my unit was defective - Kudos to Steve for excellent service. Thumbs down on the eBay reseller that STILL never bothered to contact me..Steve also apologized for that and will be contacting the seller to get things straight.

I'll give you guys an update when the new vap lands :)

Thanks again!

I'm not goin to be too hung up on limitations(max 250c), iv'e tried highest temp and didn't like it even thou there was heaps of solid (visible) vapor, reason being i didn't like the taste and lower temps were providing more than satisfactory results. by the way no popcorn taste 4 me now and now, and no blackness of my herb. seriously limitations are all around us with virtually everything made by humans, and more often than not there are very good reasons for this. i'll just add that that for many years iv'e contemplated the medical or recreational aspects of canna, but now i'm a beleiver, canna is seriously medicinal it just depends on the type of delivery, The sun really is shining for me now, no more just telling myself im happy:)

I've been rollin with 340C for my cheap regs and I turn that up to 350C after two bags. For the good stuff I start at 310C and slowly move up to 320C-330C as the bowl gets older. The chronic I have now is not the best, so I start that one off at 320C-330C and work up as I go.

I still warm it up for 20 minutes though like I posted earlier. I tried it after 5 minutes a few weeks ago just for kicks and it was nowhere near as good.

I usually never go more than four bags to a bowl when it is filled up to the black stuff. If I pack a light bowl, about halfway to the black stuff, I will only get two to three bags...but that first one is awesome!

Lately I've been doing the whip more, and I love it! I've had to rethink my expectations, though. At first I was equating one whip hit's worth of vapor to one full drag from the bag. But that's wrong. I noticed that when I whip it I don't get near as many 'hits' as I would from the bag. I get about four hits to a bag based on the size of the bag provided and my lungs. This equated to between 12 and 16 hits from a bowl. With the whip I only get four or five hits with visible vapor...but the hits are so much stronger! The herb gets spent and looks the same as from the bag hits, but it gets used up much quicker. I was reading a post by vaporizer_reviews and he said something like 'you are still getting vapor even though you can't see it'. So I packed a bowl and kept sucking on it all night even long after I could not see any vapor...and I got super rocked. I really think you can hit the whip until you are no longer feeling the effects instead of until you can't see vapor anymore...give it a try and see if it works for you.

to give some idea, i was hittin "6 to 7 j's" a day sometimes or 3-4 some and using the last box vape, right now i just had a whip of tabacco(aprox 30 cigs a day) and i'm putting away my cig papers for as long as possible , more than likely FUCK COMBUSTION, as a follow up to my ptsd recovery everything has held up, I feel an anology would be a PC system Restore, after a virus attack, And i'm one happy camper laughing joyusly and effortllessly again like my oldself. Years ago i took a sideways glance @ Aromatherapy, and thought nothing of it, but now i am interested and will be researching. my fav thing is the on demand and remote control, must haves for freedom, and i cal it "my precious" lol:lol:

Used a rented Extreme yesterday in the whip aspect. Set temp at 630 F, worked my way up - the vapour was perfect, and I got better hits than with my V-Tower - I'm convinced having the digital feedback to guide how I inhaled was the big difference. I still think I don't need a baloon, but when the rumoured digi whip comes out, I'll be ready.
