Yocan Nyx Atomizer

Just like I thought - two different QDC coils, not interchangeable. Stupid marketing on Yocan's part, fortunately the ebay seller I bought from is nice enough to take the wrong coils back so I'm only out the cost of shipping. Regardless of the coil issue, I love the Nyx so much I picked up another (stainless this time) and will grab enough spare coils to last me until the Nyx 2.0 comes out.

Was going to change the coil in my Nyx today, so I took one out of my 5 pack of QDC coils but quickly found it doesn't fit in the Nyx! Are these made only for the Evolve and there are no Nyx Coils available, or am I missing something? Ordered another with a stainless finish, but would like to be able to replace the coils as needed. Fortunately it didn't really need it this time, so I tossed the coil back in and vaped away.

Thanks,

Tried taking the cap off and firing it with the open end of the coil upside down, and all of the old reclaim and revaped oil dripped right out. Voila, new coil! Loving this thing more and more every day!

Are you guys removing the atomizer tube while the Nyx is screwed onto your mod? Or do you unscrew it completely and then pull off the tube?

So, inside the atomizer tube, it looks like there is glue (messy job at that) binding the tube to the airflow cabin.

I know it's very far from the heating element, but it is in the air path, so are we sure the hot vapor coming through and passing this glue is safe?

Here's a pic...

Edit: Other than that concern (hoping that'll be squashed soon), I'm really enjoying the Nyx. GREAT flavor and Huge clouds at 15W-17W on an iStick. Resistance reads at about .90. Love the carb!!!

I dont have a wax pen or box mod at all, but this yocan seems like it has great reviews. Reason i stayed away from wax pens is so far it seems like they are not very efficient and i dont get wax all that often. browsing the thickassglass.com 420 sale 20% off and saw the nyx with box mod for 22.50$ + 20% off. (Good deal?)
I use a nail and rig at the moment is this one worth picking up for an occasional wax user or is it for heavy wax users to just power though concentrates on the go.
I was also looking at the CF hybrid will this tank work with that?

Yeah they are both 510 threads so it will work on the cf hybrid also. That is a good deal with a box mod and nyx for $22.50 with 20% off! I'd jump on till price seems super low.

Man, keep finding myself grabbing the Nyx for sessions the past few days. Hits hard and tasty!

It would be sooooooo sweet if @Yocantech would make Temperature Control coils such as Titanium for the Nyx!

Fyi for anyone using the Nyx. I'm finding that pulsing, even at 14W-15W, only needs to be about one second, maybe two when the coil is cold.

The ramp up time is so fast, 1-2 seconds is all it needs to start producing thick vapor. Pulse for 1-2 seconds while drawing, continue drawing and pause for 1-2 seconds, pulse for 1-2 seconds, hit the carb, repeat a couple of times and you get huge flavorful clouds. And, while maintaining the flavor of the material that is still loaded.

I've found that pulsing any longer creates a burnt taste and makes the coils glow.

I'm only pointing this out because other wax atomizers sometimes need 3-5 second pulses and I don't think you want to do that with these.

I'm talking only about the dual quartz atty. I haven't tried the ceramic yet - I receive those on Friday.

I should be getting a new and improved NYX atomizer but won't get to it til next week due to traveling. The carb throttle is tweaked, ceramic donut and a spillproof cap are some of the upgrades I think. I'll report more next week and pics galore!

In power mode, I'm using the Ti coils at 12-15 Watts, pulsing 2-3 seconds.

In Temperature Control mode, I'm using it at 12.5 Watts, 370F-450F degrees (depending on mood and material), pulsing as long as I want while never getting a burnt taste. These are the most perfect hits.

Grade 1 Titanium, I'm using TCR value 366 on my istick tc100w. If it's Grade 2 Titanium, then TCR value 352.

Being crushed by pop is soda pressing.
So I just to use my Nyx which I just stuck on the Evolve Plus's battery. Definitely hits harder and makes much bigger clouds. I can see what people mean when they say they go through wax quick with it. I like the carb though I have to get to use to screwing it on correctly so that both buttons are next to each other. Really liking their products so far.

You can rotate the top shell to align your buttons after you have screwed in the atomizer

I have to admit that I've been using the main Evolve Plus quartz more than the NYX. I find it far less harsh on the throat.

On Power Mode I been using it at about 14W on a 75W Mod with about 1-2second pulse to melt my wax on the coil. Than I usually hold power for 3-6 seconds for a huge tasty hit. I have not tried Temp mode yet as I have been happy in power mode.

Cloud Chaser

Damn. Wish I had seen this yesterday.
Anyway I found a seller on eBay with the 5 pack for $27.95 with free shipping. Ordered them yesterday supposed to arrive next week.

I've been rocking my standard NYX on Power Mode at 10W. Takes a second or so to get rolling but it tastes great. If I really want a bigger hit I only turn it up to 12W. There is no need for huge power on this, in my opinion.
But, if you're a regular huge dabber, you will love this unit. In my opinion it would take an e-nail to compete with what this can deliver.

Received a nyx unit a few weeks ago. Hits really well, great job yocan. Like the placement of the airholes in the bowl, the carb is a great idea. Would be great if you made the top of the unit threaded for easier cleaning (and less messy glue!) and put the carb hole facing towards to other side in the next generation.

One thing i've noticed it there is some splatter flying up through the mouthpiece, also onto the carb, making the button a little sticky.

I put a small square of tissue over and a little in the mouthpiece and fired at 18W (eleaf istick30w). Waited for a couple seconds before drawing very lightly on the mouthpiece before clearing with a medium draw after depressing the carb. Had a couple droplets of wax on the tissue. Tried pulsing and releasing the button and then clearing with the carb with a medium pull, a little better but still had droplets. Am i doing something wrong or is this unavoidable? Most of the other units i have used in the past have coils that have the cap or capped end on the mouthpiece with the hole on the sides to prevent this so I never really noticed this issue.. Material used was shatter consistency.

Overall i really like the unit. If there's any way you guys on the forum have figured out to not have the splatter in mouth/down lungs happen, any advice would be much appreciated. I get that we're breathing in fumes anyway but, would like to keep it at a minimum, lol. Thanks for reading my long post!

Regards,
J
