Good thinking with the ELB cap. Using that, does it all fit inside the Herbie bowl with the lid on? That's how I invisioned it working.

Exactly right, sir. The fit is not tight between the ELB cap and the minivap basket but it holds the material well in place in the Herbie bowl.

So far, I'm not liking the mod, and I'm really trying too.

Vicki, what exactly are you doing with the miniVAP baskets? To a whip or hydratube or to a bubbler?
Any pics--worth a thousand words.
What are the issues/problems you encountered?

I may be able to post pics later today

To a whip, to a bubbler. I don't have a pic right this second, but what I dislike the most is having to hold the basket onto the bottom portion of the Herbie bowl.

OK, to a whip to a bubbler:
pictured below is probably the best setup for that, the Herbie bottom bowl, the miniVAP basket module, inserted into the @Ratchett Herbie Song, version 1 pictured.
Herbie%20mV1%20bskt.jpg

Song version 1 isn't quite long enough to firmly snap onto the bottom bowl
I'm presuming version 2 with longer sideskirt will snap on firmly for totally hands free use.

Ratchett, how much longer is the sideskirt of Version 2? Hopefully about: current length of this skirt + about 2/3 the current length. If too much is added, this config won't snap on/ it won't hold the miniVAP basket module snugly into the bowl. ???

Vicki, do you have ratchett song version 1 or 2? Version 2 will likely be the "cat's pajamas" .....
Do you have a hydratube as that works REALLY WELL with the mVAP baskets !!!!!!!!!

I gave @MinnBobber's method a try. I was using the 2.0 song and while I liked it okay, I did find that without the top of the herbie bowl in place the feel still wasn't as sturdy as I would have liked. I am liking the minivap screen with the EVO elb cap because I can drop the makeshift canister right into the herbie and screw on the top. No fuss at all. However, tt will not permit as much material to be loaded, so that should be considered.

@Vicki Do you have an EVO? If not, you may want to look into them. A 4-pack from VapeXhale is around 20 bucks. However, you really wouldn't need more than one because you would only be using the top of the basket. It doesn't fit together snug but it does keep the herb contained and really requires no modification . If you were interested (And if @stickstones is able) I would be willing to split up another order.

I am going to give @MinnBobber's method another few runs in the name of science, see if I can think of any other ways to tailor it to my liking, and I'm still uncertain.

One thing I did discover today folks when I took Herbie to a friend's house and hastily only packed up the Herbalizer stock screens. After we split a session at 375 with the whip we took a break for dinner, and when we returned to finish with a few bags at 445 I popped on a new bag (We had just passed a pretty stressful certification course for the ED, so I wanted to celebrate with a fresh bag) and noticed that it wasn't inflating. I fiddled with a few seconds before noticing I had no airflow. When I took the bowl apart I found the screen completely obstructed with Herb. I have been adding a Herbie convection screen on top of my load for so long that I forgot how much cleaner it keeps my herbie screens. I still change them out every few uses when the restriction becomes noticeable. However those screens can be inserted into the bowl and vaped for a few bonus clouds. I have about 8 saved up that I'm planning on enjoying tonight. I'm just not sure if I want to use a single screen at a time or stack them all up and go all in!

Also, for the record I believe that the skirt length for the 2.0 adapter is simply double the length of the original. It works great for me, although my hydratube fits a little better on the original adapter with its more gradual taper, but that is a very recent discovery I hadn't noticed prior.

Any body switch from a Cloud EVO to an Herbalizer? If so, do you like your Herbalizer better? Why and how?

I use both all the time. I prefer to hit the Evo, as I notice a better taste (personal opinion) and I love using glass. But Herbie might get used more just because my situation often requires immediate use, and my Herbie gets to temp in 17 seconds. I honestly don't know which I'd pick if I could only have one. Luckily, they are pretty different, so one of them should appeal to your style more than the other. They are both 'must haves' for me, though.

No, I don't have an EVO. A 4 pack of?

I had a honeymoon period with Herbie, where Evo barely got used but now that is has been around a year the Evo gets a lot more use in my house. I think it is a lot better and easier through water than the Herbie, and plain Herbie whip hits are a bit harsh IMO.

The Herbie is quicker and can provide very very precise temp. This is where it shines. And to be honest, i got rid of all my other bag blowers as i like Herbie better than the Zephyr Ion or Volcano for ease of use and maintenence, speed, and a smaller more manageable bowl size. But when it comes to daily use, Evo all the way for me.

My buddy has an Evo and it's great but I love my Herbie more. I use it many different ways and continue to experiment and try more ways.
My latest combo is a BIG WINNER, the
Vicki and virtual and sticks, give this a try if you've got the pieces.
Herbie with only the bottom bowl, miniVAP basket for the herbs, VXL Hydratube (Turbine).
Basket tilted out for picture---it drops into heat chamber
Herbie%20mV%20VXL.jpg

Really smooth flavorful moisturized hits at the exact temp you desire where the entire session (2 hits for me) takes 20 seconds. Awesome. Weight of the VXL let's it sit hands free on Herbie. For daily use it is really quick and convenient and clean.

Vicki--on left is miniVAP basket module pieces. Starting at bottom is:
- the white Flexicone
- next is optional hemp fiber filter (I'm currently experimenting with the hemp)
- next a screen snaps into the Flexicone to prevent herb from being sucked out of the bskt
- finally the wire basket with herb is snapped into the Flexicone.
What exact pieces are you using?

Those are the pieces I have and been using them with the bottom portion of the Herbie bowl. I don't like having to hold the whip onto this setup.

OK, the @Ratchett Herbie Song, version 2 shuld snap on firmly to the Herbie bottom bowl and contain the miniVAP basket/herb/flexicone AND allow a whip connection.
I don't have that exact picture but this one shows the Ratchett Song with whip connected.
mV%20Song%20bubbler.jpg

I like "multi-purpose" so the pic shows a MFLB water whip:
- use for straight whip hits with the wood hand hold and the glass 14 mm male joint/ glass mouthpiece
Straight whip for low temps on the Herbie and then:
- insert 14 mm male joint into bubbler for moisturized/diffused hits.

One small disclaimer: Ratchett Song Version 2--- I don't own version 2 which has a longer skirt than my version 1 (which is a little too short to firmly attach to Herbie bottom bowl with miniVAP module). Version 2 should work----but might need beta testing to make sure it fits ??

The Herbie Song should get you where you want to be----secure whip use with miniVAP module

I'm sorry Vicki, I was referring to the ELB herb baskets used for the EVO. They are 20 bucks for a 4-pack but the only piece needed is the top screen for the herb basket.

If it's unclear tonight I'll post pictures of my current setups.

Sounds good, I'll remember to snap a few pics the next session I get and post them up.

@Vicki, I have a suggestion that I tried out earlier tonight and I think you might find it helpful.

Pop out the bottom screen from your Herbalizer (This step may not be required, I will have to test that later) and place the Minivap Herb basket inside. Then fill with herb and place the topscreen from the minivap (without the silicone molding) on top of the herb. Now, place one of the Herbalizer Aroma Pads on top of that screen before placing the Herbie bowl on top. The aroma pad keeps the topscreen in place and prevents the herb from spilling out at all. Also, I believe the aromapad will collect oils over time, and may then be able to be vaped directly for a little bonus session!

If you get a change Vicki please give this a shot and report your results. This should allow you to use the Minivap basket without having to pick up any extra supplies. When I did a session like this I was pleased and it is so far shaping up to be my favorite use of the Minivap basket.

I am curious why people are using minivap baskets for the herbie? Is it to keep the screens clean, make a smaller load, or more dense vapor? I have plenty of the minivap baskets but wanted to know what the major advantages are. Thanks.

Vicki, like virtual said, there are other options with the Herbie basket only. The above version depends on which miniVAP basket you have. Over time, there was a mV small, medium, and large. Now just two sizes which seem to be med and large?? I wonder what the current standard size is, how deep are your new wire baskets? Small works without removing lower screen. Med--close. Large--too tall
The tall seems like it would require removing the Herbie bowl bottom screen. That's not the end of the world BUT a deal breaker for me. I like having the Herbie screen there as an extra layer of protection to make sure herb dust doesn't get down to the Halogen bulb. The miniVAP screen would be added in but I don't remove that lowest bowl screen on mine.

The aroma pads do hold a top screen snugly onto the miniVAP basket rim. Just a tiny bit tricky to assemble/ screw on upper bowl with loose screen and aroma pad drifting below. No problem though

Another thread I saw showed a technique to "shorten a basket" but I can't remember for what vape??
What thread? They smashed in/ smooshed in the bottom of the basket to make it shallower-----if you might like a shorted basket so you could leave in the Herbie lower screen.
I thought they took the end of a magic marker type pen and gently caved in the bottom of the screen??

Hope you find a way to use the wire baskets as I love them. Can place a VXL Hydratube directly onto the flexicone module. Never have to remove Herbie bottom magnet chamber, never have to clean the Herbie chamber as it stays spotless, basket wire adds another layer of protecting against herd debris getting into Herbie, never have to clean the Herbie upper screw-on chamber or it's screen as I never use the upper chamber with the mV basket.
I can "load ahead" with the mV baskets but only have one Herbie (expensive) chamber.
I just recently started experimenting with adding a degummed hemp fiber "filter" in the Flexicone to keep that fine dusty herbage out of one's lungs and out of your water piece or whip. Report due after some testing time.... :)

EDIT >>>>>>Vicki and mix posted while I was typing.
V-- yes, @Ratchett Herbie Song (version 2) would let you use a miniVAP basket to a whip nicely. 1 caveat:
1. Version 2 wasn't crafted for this exact use so it might be a little bit too long. If so, you'd have to trim off some soft flexible molded silicone.
mix--reasons posted above. For me, mV baskets are best thing since sliced bread...
