Vitolo: Good advice in general, except this part:

Be extra careful not to poke into the heat element- it is fragile, and touching it would void warranty.
I don't represent Magic-Flight, but as I understand the warranty this is not correct. Accidentally ruining your screen yourself is covered, damaging it intentionally is not.
read back.. I said "do not poke into the heat element" The heat element is beyond the screens diametrical circumference.. going in there beyond that area with a metal file might cause damage, not to screen but to the fine wire inside, beyond... that leads to the element.
Magic Flight/Blissville are very willing to replace boxes for a variety of reasons., for sure... including the feeling that your unit isn't performing, or perhaps even charring. If they were to cover a heatiing element damaged by inserting a tool... That would make them even GREATER in my book! :mflb:

In the past, magicflight has been pretty clear that this sort of damage is covered.

The reason I responded, however, is to clear up a misunderstanding. The heating element is the screen. I think you are mistaking the light for a heating element. The only fine wire you might disturb makes the connection to the light, and there your are correct: the light isn't covered by warranty. On the other hand, the light is not essential for vaporizing; the LB will still function properly without one.

Not to be argumentative, but in a conversation with Linday from Blissville yesterday, she clarified that the heating element is composed of a stainless steel rod, attached to that small light, that heats up very quickly and is safe to inhale from at the temperature the Magic Box Vaporizer reaches 380 Degrees F.
The screen is not the heating element, and yes the light does not need to work for the LB to function, however the heating element..the stainless steel rod can be dislodged, disconnected or damaged if poked with a metal tool.

Lindsay is a dear, but she is contradicting the Magic-Flight patent application (US Patent Application number 12/705,906, Aromatic Vaporizer). Page 2 paragraph 17 states:

The device employs a fine metallic screen that is engaged with an electrical power source
such as a battery, to form an electric heating element.

The application makes no mention of a light or its connecting wires. Besides, we all know it's the screen that heats up. ;)

If you read that patent application, or if you understand basic electrical circuits, just spend a few minutes examining your LB carefully. You'll see that neither the light not its connecting wires form an essential part of the circuit. The wires leading to the light only provide power to it and can be broken without affecting the LB's primary use. We've had a few posts here from people with broken lights, but none of them reported that the LB stopped working. Magic-Flight wouldn't exclude the light from the warranty if breaking it prevented the LB from working.

No question that dislodging the stainless steel rod can break your LB, but that is covered by warranty.

I wonder if there's a way to gang two batts together to get a bigger, longer charge. Freshly charged batts are great for a little while, but lose charge fast. Freshly conditioned batts are even better, but lose juice fast also.

Many appliances use multiple batts to power a component. Wondered about something similar for the LB.

I like the idea of the power of the PA, but don't personally like the chord. I guess I'd like my cake and eat it too.

You can always rubber band the extra battery to the box to have it close!
I must say. The PA chord is pretty darned umcombersome!
I got the new Power Adapter for the MFLB. It is fantastic too. This is not a BETA. It has a serial number, and the components look wonderful. The wooden base gives it a real classy look too.
Check it out!

Touch image to see PA for MFLB

Looks compact and great sitting together- a well balanced fit, like a miniature wooden phone in it's cradle!

I have really grown to look forward to Vito's posts. I wish he lived closer, as I'd drop in for a session or two.

Is that you in your avatar Vito? I thought it was Humphrey Bogart for a while now.
It is indeed me, sundaddy. I look different with the glasses. I suffer double vision as result of my coma.
I must wear them to make the vids, or I cant find the key to stop the vid!

I did too until I made a joke about it in another thread, and Vitolo's response made me realize that it's actually him without his glasses.

I did finally get that Magic Flight Cracker recipe down. 4 half vaped trenches sprinkled on a peanut butter cracker. Good for 7 hours.

Just received my PA a few mins ago HOLY CLOUDS . On the halfway setting i'm getting vapor immediately I will have to readjust how long I hold the button down as i've grown used to using the powerex 2700's. The PA is leaps and bounds above any batteries I've used. Thank you Magic Flight for making such a wonderful product and my mflb experience complete.

Very disappointed at the moment..:(

I order my Powerex 2700's on Sunday and I got them today but they came out of juice. I also ordered a charger but it hasn't arrived yet. I got about 2 trenches on 4 batteries. 4! Four! I can't recommend newegg.com to anyone. Sigh...

Do you have the charger that came with the MFLB?

I don't have it. I lost pretty much everything that I had in the black pouch when I lost the black pouch. Good thing I didn't have my Launch Box in the pouch. Oh, by the way, I poked a hole in my screen and I e-mailed Magic-Flight. They sent me a replacement unit within a couple days. E-mailed Thursday received on Monday. Excellent customer service!

reaaally thinking of pulling the trigger on the PA, and will definitely do so if magic flight plans on raising the price, how long do you think they will still be offering the "beta" sales?

You need to read back!
The unit is completely out of Beta, and that "BETA" website will be down before long.
I would say it is time to make your move!
That said..... I love this thing!
I am really enjoying turning the power down low... and not seeking "Fog Hits".. just turn it down nice and low, and slowly sip a trench ... and taste the freshness...
Try it it is great. Using lower power than the batteries provide, gives even repeated hits.. I made one trench last for 15 minutes of sweet pungent light hits, that left the trench's contents all golden!

i am aware that the PA is out of beta, hence my quotations, but i must have missed the part about the sale page being taken down shortly. i believe you are right vito, the time for action is now, i have been convinced. luckily i got my paycheck today, so i don't feel so guilty :p

I must invest in a Power Adapter as well. From all the positive reviews and videos I've seen, it seems well worth it. Now...I have to decide on ordering now or waiting for it to appear on BlissSville. Hmm..If I choose the latter, I hope the price raise isn't significant at all.

Anyone have the PA and another external power source vaporizer? I am thinking of getting a non portable vaporizer and am not so totally sold on the PA.
