Seeking My Shangri-La
wait. did i make you feel better about yourself cuz you're not a chubby pale ginger? don't you see how inherintly boderline colorist that is? you wouldn't say thanks for making me feel better about myself if i talked about how tough growing up an ethnic minority was.

gingerism, the only form of racism that's still acceptable. (not you specifically WildChild) i'm sure you're a wonderful person. you didn't know i was the MLK of redheads.
No, it's not quite what I meant; I certainly would never judge another based on their looks. And for the record, I am a red-head too. I'm also an ethnic minority up here where I live. ...anyhow, i'm off topic...

Hope your experience with the FF continues to be better. I'm expecting mine in the next couple of days and cannot wait to start playing with it.

All the best. Remind yourself that you are a good person every morning.

EDIT: Just got my FF half an hour ago...looking forward to trying it later.

i'm still playing with mine. if you have a negative experience and share it with the group, don't do what i did. i playfully called folks who were happy with their unit fanboys. i only meant it in a playful way but tone and meaning gets watered down on typing. you'd think i just started typing online. but no, i was chatting in dos mode on irc in 1990. i'm wondering if medicating daily since 1990 has done anything to regions of the brain that allow me to feel empathy.

We love welcoming and getting to know new members to FC. Familiarity and friendships can develop here, as well as valuable exchanges of knowledge and experience. Expressing ideas with individual personality adds interest and perspective to topics. Levity often carries the day. Showing a thoughtful level of maturity and discretion positively distinguishes one's presence and value to the discussion. There are many different flavors of threads on FC, several of which actually encourage unrestrained free-form no-holds-barred good-spirited bull-in-china shop style expression, such as: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/f...ason-to-smoke-more.9587/page-365#post-528080; http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/fuck-you.10554/page-68#post-527931; Pet Pictures; etc... Most of us here are REALLY CRAZY in fun loving ways, love to tickle and be tickled. Impulse control is often a challenge for us. Trick is in knowing the right way, time, and place - that is the Key to the City, so to speak. Now, where were we ...The Firefly Vaporizer, I believe:ko:.

well i'm going to break out this firefly and apply some dried herbs and then apply heat. at which point i'm going to extract some herbal vapors. i hope you're enjoying your MLK celebrations. i'm celebrating. it's not the longevity of life, but the quality of that life that matters - MLK

The wait is finally over! Quick question though, how much draw resistance should there be? With the lid off there is no resistance whatsoever, but with the lid on there is quite a bit. Is this normal?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the vapor channels wide open if the lid is not closed? This would account for no resistance when the lid is off.

Finally received the Firefly. Unfortunately, I work in 30 minutes and won't be able to enjoy it until after work. Aaaaauuugggghhhhh. Anyways, the packaging is lovely, and I the unit is gorgeous and feels nice. Gave a it a little check over and inspected everything. Things look great. I cannot wait to start using it.

Yes, I was more using this as a frame of reference. I would say the draw resistance is about 75% more with the lid on, and I was just curious if this is normal. I have to pull pretty hard, compared to my Plenty anyway. Not a complaint, just wondering.

There certainly is resistance with the lid on in comparison with the lid off.

If you're feeling significant resistance with the lid on, then you're probably pulling just a bit too hard. This unit takes a while to get to know, for most people. It took me 5 days, honestly. I'm no grand-master or anything but I ain't a total newb either. Then suddenly I just got it, and have been improving with it ever since. You really become "one" with this unit once you get rolling with it.

Once I "got it," I realized I had just been trying too hard. While there certainly is technique, it's less than you might initially think.

I have not used a Plenty, but I would assume the FF has more resistance than that.

thanks for the vote of confidence. apparently i'm too edgy for the FF community. i've been contacted by several staff members to let me know that while i'm welcome to be part of the community, my posting style is hard for some to take.

so no happy feet penguins in this group. if i want to be entertaining and creative take it somewhere else i was told. sorry i only know how to stand out amongst the narcolepsy inducing standard forum banter. i love you all. keep vaping!
No, you were told that 'funny stuff' like calling people fanboys and butt hurt would be taken seriously by some, which it was. You were asked to dial it back some in order to avoid some members taking offense and reporting you, which is what was happening. You're free to be "entertaining and creative" as long as other members don't feel insulted by your posts.

yeah i don't want to make anyone feel insulted. i want to make others feel uplifted. and i wasn't trying to betray confidences either. hey hey hey i do it to my kids. if one brother calls the other one idiot there is a definate scolding. why should this community be any different. you really do have to be the change you want to see in others.

Ok, I must be accustomed to pulling WAY too hard on my Plenty (ha, that sounds really bad), because I too ended up with plant matter on my tongue. I imagine I've been doing it wrong all along.

that was me day 1. i complaigned that why do i have a vape that the herbs clog the air path? i'm still tinkering. haven't had debris in mouth for two days. now trying to maximize efficiency.
i'm also failing to get the big milky clouds that i'm accustom to with other vapes. i've watched the videos of folk getting these results i just haven't dialed it in yet.

Then you're pulling way, way too hard.

This little unit takes a more gentle touch.

For me, I know I'm pulling too hard when I can either really feel it or hear it. Anything less than that and you can start varying the temps pretty good.

I've never pulled hard enough to get any plant matter though.

Also, don't forget to clear the little paths around the bowl. If you're pulling too hard, you can clog those. Gotta unclog 'em!

For sure. Did I see earlier someone discourage using one of the small replacement screens provided to place on top of the herbs? If nothing else it should probably help keep the top glass piece clean, which is already getting fairly gummed up.

i'm on day 3 of my FF journey. after getting debris in my mouth for the first two sessions, i resorted to placing one of the screens on top of my herbs. that prevented debris coming thru. over the course of using the screen i got a better feel for the pull and then i stopped with the screen on top. i'm surprised at how toasty my herbs are getting with the amount of vapor i'm pulling. so i tinker some more. on my quest for ultimate FF enlightenment.
and the little window got mucked up either way, screen or no. fyi.

So if your life is 'low quality' does this mean your life is also possibly not so important?
millions have led long unimportant lives. for myself i sucspect it'll be a short unimportant life. but i'd also argue that vaporizing exponentially increases quality. maybe it's all a wash in the end.

trying the non grind business. feeling better about pulling a bit more aggressively. so far so good on no debris. still getting a blackened bud edge here and there but a more aggresive pull will cool the bowl down and prevent blackening? see i haz can use logic?
