memory problems mmj

Share your experiences while medicated or sober that you feel are caused by THC.

I often forget stuff when I am medicated, I notice that I will be thinking or talking about something and then ill switch to a relevant topic but when I'm done going off the tangent I can't come back to the central point I was making that begged the secondary topic to be brought up. For example ill be thinking about the basketball game last night but for a second ill switch my attention to what I was working on or saying to someone and ill instantly forget what was on my mind prior. For example I will sometime open up the google search browser to search for a couple of items. But after I am done with the first search I can no longer recall the words I was going to search for next. Am I alone here? Is this some type of permanent damage I am doing to myself with my overuse of mmj?

YANA @NYC5IKH5jabi. I just chalk it up to getting older and herb getting better.
Exactly. I always feel this when I'm medicated but since I'm almost never sober I don't know for sure if I need to be medicated to start forgetting or if I just haven't taken a tbreak so I wouldn't know for sure.
Like I know for sure that stuff that occurs when I am medicated doesn't register in my memory the same way and even the next day when sober I can't recall it with complete certainty. Like ill be medicated before I go to sleep. and the next morning I wont be able to recall where I placed my pouch with my wax even though I had placed it in a spot myself last night and when I do find it the memory of last night and me putting it there in that spot rushes back to me like dejavu. almost like theres a literal wall that hid the information from me. very very eerie to think.

I find it takes a bit of practice and effort not to forget various things when medicated. It's taken a bit of time, but at the point of being able to be medicated and still able to recall events of a particular evening.... but again, this takes some effort both during the event, then at a later time when trying to recall...

Almost there...
Losing your train of thought while under the influence is common, it is one of the side effects of being stoned/medicated/high etc...

Training your brain can help but if you are after the effects and just like to relax and put your brain in neutral, your thoughts will be all over the place. Not a bad thing in my mind when i am medicated because i find it makes me forget about any bodily aches and pains.

Looks like it is time to take my daily Ibuprofen dose!

Ive also found that the type of activity matters. If I am commuting or multitasking I find it happening when I think. If I am sitting thinking or reading I find it happen when I pause thinking to answer a phone or grab a object.

Definitely happens to me when I'm pretty stoned. Happens sober as well, but nowhere near as frequently. If I'm surfing the web it's very easy to get lost on a tangent; ie a wikipedia loop where I start reading all the links that sound interesting and I end up forgetting why I went to wikipedia in the 1st place. Similar thing happens in conversation as well.

it can help but im pretty sure that ends up destroying your liver.

If you have memory problems just use your brain more often, like puzzles or crossword.

Ibuprofen (which is what that article talks about) is not hepatoxic. You may be thinking of acetaminophen.

I can't tell you how many movies I've watched baked, late at night, that I have almost no recollection of.
Yet I know the chords on piano and guitar to dozens of songs, and know scores of ICD-9 and CPT codes (for work) that I didn't even try to memorize on purpose.

Point being, at least in my own observations, it's only forming the short term memories that seems to be effected.

I find myself spacing out while in the middle of a conversation and forgetting what point I want to make. I hate it because I feel like an idiot. Not that I'm not one. :\
This one I'll admit to as well! Especially if I get long-winded.... then it's an almost-absolute certainty that I'll get lost!

Yeah.. F* Combustion..
I do it when talking stories.. It is almost like I go "out of body" and start enjoying my own story. This isn't that bad because I feel like I tell better stories this way, but to reference YouTube, my story catches up to the loaded sections and if I don't catch myself before that happens, the story just stops..

Lmfaooooo me tooo bro! My science and history teacher would be proud of how much educational reading I do on my own. I'll leave out the part about the motivation behind the reading lol

:smug: seriously, who doesn't have a story to tell when baked. ive been part of a 30 person group in the middle of a camping trip and every last one of us had a story to tell and not one of us really was hearing what the other said and were just nodding and saying uh huh lolol

also I have had out of body type moments when stoned and multitasking. ill be driving and because I don't listen to music while I drive I basically will be having the grandest thoughts going on in my head to the point where I sort of forget when I changed lanes and took the last exit, or sometimes ill comepletely miss a exit and not even notice until I am done thinking and yet I was driving perfectly the entire time without being conscious of the elapsed time, I'd be accelerating and braking and staying in lane yet my mind was completely on something other then driving a car. freaking amazing how marijuana helps prove that there is much more to sensory perception than anyone can ever quantify

Naturally occurring endocannabinoids are at least partially responsible for 'forgetting'. W/o this mechanism, we'd be really screwed. The brain's way of cleaning house. W/ adding more cannabinoids, it's gotta have some negative effect. This vid touches on it:
It mainly focuses on how cannabinoids affect/heal cancer, but is an awesome vid that references real studies. One of the most comprehensive vids out there for explaining how cannabinoids interact w/ our bodies. A little forgetfulness is a small price for the benefits I receive from cannabis. The brain is a muscle, and like any muscle, needs to be exercised. You can almost always tell the difference between an elderly person who really exercised their brain, and another who didn't so much. We all probably need more 'exercise' than most.

This is what's REALLY happening:

XWrusyS.png

For those taking multiple prescriptions pills at once, have you ever taken a a pill, or not taken a pill and immediately forgot if you took it or you didn't. Do you just go with "I took it" and possibly miss a dose, or take it and possibly double dose? I hate it when that happens.

But yeah, I've driven 20 miles on the freeway and then all of sudden realize that I missed my off-ramp and then wondered, "Who in fuck was driving the car?"

This has happened more than once in my past w/ lsd. You figure it out pretty quickly once you decide to make sure, and take another.

I think this is only temp and happens when you are high or still foggy from being high. once the drugs are out of your system memory is back to normal imo.

my issue is that I can't dream anymore (well actually I jsut can't remember em, i know i do still dream. apparently I talk in my sleep) . I heard there is a tea i should drink to help with that. maybe this will help you too!

Tulsi tea apparently.
