So I know that instructions have you toast your herb for at least 20 mins. Makes me nervous when using top shelf flowers. Anyone else with this hesitation? The only batch I've made I didn't toast and end product was like an emerald green. Flavor was there!

For decarbing/releasing moisture I assume. I also remember reading that cannabinoid acids tend to turn into shatter much easier than cannabinoids without the COOH which like to remain liquid. Makes sense to me because my nug runs have been shatter, and my ABV is ALWAYS a liquid I have to freeze to handle better. This would be beneficial for pen atomizer longevity.

I toasted my top shelf flowers on my first and second runs, obviously didn't toast the ABV run. I didn't worry too much toasting the herbs in the oven because I know there's no danger of losing actives at that temp., plus I used 205 degrees for 20 minutes to be sure. Flavor is very complex, but I have never done a run untoasted either so I can't comment on what changes. I'm curious to know if the folks over at Liquidizer would recommend toasting for all extractions, or if toasting is more well suited to the liquid application only, for Atomizer longevity, like Quetzal said...

In general we do recommend toasting for most extractions, toasting is definitely better suited to liquid application for the reasons you've mentioned, but even more than atomizer longevity the predominant reason we advise is odor. Untoasted extract is literally herbal perfume complete with all the signature green volatile organic odors most commonly recognized by others. We prefer our users have the added peace of mind that when vaping in public, they won't be confronted by others offended by intensely aromatic vapor clouds. Do try a small run of untoasted herbs so you can see for yourself the difference, and afterwards experiment with creating a personalized blend that is say 20% untoasted juice to 80% toasted juice for an even broader spectrum of flavors and distinct notes from the sharp green initial impressions, to the broader base flavor of the vapor, to the nasal "feel" and vapor aroma, to the aftertaste and finish. Mix different strains and herbs for possibilities that are otherwise unobtainable. Some batches we even toast for 45 minutes for a very dark oil for mixing and adding a nice smoky "dark chocolate" touch to our blends. The possibilities are endless.

i have been following this thread a bit and love the idea of using EO in a regular old ecig atty. i understand that getting it to the eliquid consistency means cutting it with glycerin, but how much cutting does it take? even if cut 50/50 it should still be more potent than flowers no...?

i do everclear washes. i really wish i could get a Liquidizer kit, but i live in the city and dont have a lot of outdoor space. not enough space that i would feel comfortable about fumes not getting to my neighbors.

How much space do you have? From what I've experienced the fumes don't exactly make it very far. I just wouldn't want someone to walk by and investigate it, but that is unlikely in your own space for ~10 min.

I just wanted to hear from others and have to be reminded that herbs don't vape until into the 300s

No worries 2 click, you can still do your extracts via Ethanol. I don't use butane, only iso and ethanol. The EJ mix from Liquidizer provides the correct "cut" to make your extract usable in standard e-gear. Any questions, please feel free to pm. I have had great results with the EJ and non-butane solvents.

Just think of the ej mix as the carrier. You make any full melting extract and you can dilute it with the EJ mix for use in an ecig. Pretty slick.

That being said I've been using my shattery style butane extraction that was "purged" via the mix and evap with everclear. Absolutely amazing in my cera. Its a shame the PEG doesn't seem to get along well with me. It could be an allergy or apparently related to an immune thing I have. I will say this all my friends LOVE the ejvape and the extract with the ejuice. Makes me a bit jealous, but I've hardly got anything to complain about with my extract straight up.

Maybe not darkroom. I had the chance to go to a dispensary this past weekend and the man gave me gsc in a vape pen to try and I took a smaller hit then I take from my vip2 cause I know what is in it. I coughed my ass and back off ouch ouch ouch. Forgetting that when I asked is it vg or pg and he didn't know what I was asking. The end result was it is PG and now I know I can't use that. It was truly a small hit with girl scout cookies as the strain. I doubt I am allergic it is just really harsh on the throat and not for me.

It shouldn't feel harsh at all. Maybe it was that ecig brand? So far glowing reviews on the ejvape with the people who have used mine. I tried a regular ecig with pg and had thee same results so its gotta be the pg or peg that doesn't agree with m,e. So many others love that ecig as well so I think we are the minority.

So we need an ecig with no carrier just pure oil can u say cera lol. Not for me but seems to be one of the few options at the moment.

The ejuice is a blend of PG and PEG (the reason for the blend was explained in great detail by Liquidizer much earlier in this thread), but if what you don't get along with is just the PEG in the ejuice, you might consider pure PG for those times when you want your concentrate to flow well enough to use in a standard e-cig type clearomizer.

There are a number of (what are commonly called) bridgeless dripping atomizers that will work just fine with thick oils and other extractions. They're available for about $5 each. Unlike the Cera EO cores, they work just fine on little eGo style batteries, which last for days before needing recharging, and are available in regulated variable voltage models in the $20 range. If your concentrate has been winterized (had the plant waxes removed), they'll last for months. If your concentrates are pretty waxy, they'll need to be cleaned every few days or so, but still should last a while. They won't hold the amount of concentrate that a Cera EO core will though, so you have to "refill" them every half dozen or so hits.

I've been using a Smartvapes 1.5Ω bridgeless dripping atomizer with two kinds of "waxes", three types of oil, and some really thick sticky stuff that I don't know what it's called; all of them work great. You can even get "nail dab" strength hits if you want (which I don't), by turning up the voltage a little bit and giving the atty a five second warmup before taking your hit. I've also dripped some Pure Gold into it, though because it's fluid enough I usually use the Pure Gold in a GotVapes "Sapphire" buddy clearomizer, which holds about a gram and lasts for weeks and weeks without needing a refill.

There are actually lots of ways to enjoy good concentrate, but because I live in an apartment in NYC, I really can't take advantage of the Liquidizer Herb2Vapor System, and I have to buy "ready made". It makes me nuts because I would really like to be making it myself...

Sad to see clueless bud tenders! I've had those once or twice, which is why I make it a habit to have two main places. I was just talking about lab results and availability of the CO2 oil they carry earlier today when I dropped by.

PG gives throat hit, VG gives clouds, right? I would be nervous to give someone a dab off my Ultra if I didn't even know 100% what was in the concentrate.

Well I am brave like that hehe. I don't know about concentrates and that was my purpose to look at a dispensary and guess what they don't have any. The man just happened to be vaping so he offered me a try. I don't know pg or vg except I know I have a very thin sativa oil with vg that was made for me and I don't have those issues. The man said his was pg but used full word and gsc:shrug:.

well ive got a 2 car parking pad in back and a small yard, but neighbors are close. plus i wouldnt really want it out in the middle of my yard. it would totally stick out. a spot on my small deck may work, but isnt that too close to my house?

I don't wanna give the wrong advice, but you might be ok on your deck. I'd imagine it greatly depends on what electronics are around and if you can shut the doors and windows to keep any vented gas outside. If you don't have electronics around you MIGHT be ok. Check with someone more knowledgeable. I think it is safer than we both think simply by being outside honestly.

If I read right the key was with no chance of something to spark like a cig, outlet, random lightening bolt but you get the idea.

how long do the fumes last outside. they pool up on the ground right?

under my deck is a walk out from the basement. will the fumes go between the deck slats and down there? wouldnt it just stick around there or does it blow away pretty easily outside? i grill a lot and would hate for something to happen the next day after a run.

they are heavier then air and how quickly they dissipate depends on the wind, I doubt you'd have an issue the next day.

in addition to trying to eliminate spark sources you are also trying to distance the process from structures so if anything happened you would limit damage....the same reason you set it and leave this 'danger' area until it's done

it's just a reality that some people don't have access to areas to do this where they live

Be safe clicker and hopefully the owners can comment on that. I don't want my clicker blown to hell.

lol. dont worry. i think i will be sticking to my ethanol washes, but will def be looking into getting my EO into a more liquid state. after reading the liquidizer website more im getting more excited about getting a liquid that is every bit as potent as straight up wax... cant wait to try.

I don't think there is reason to worry a day later. I'd imagine wind disperses the fumes quickly. I'd guess it is safe after the 10 min honestly.

thanks yall. after reading more it doesnt sound as bad as i was thinking. i suppose 15-20 mins should be enough. however, i dont believe i have a decent spot to do this at my place.
