Always in a state of confusion and silliness♀
Was this really a pre-order from them directly? I don't think so...it was implied in hand so now you can order and it will be mailed on the 29th I think it was. I don't think that is a pre-order. GV and TV did a pre-order and of course there will be delays and that will be expected.

The part that is left out of that sentence is "...starting July 29th."

I did not leave anything out of that sentence. I quoted the only mention of July 29. Not sure where you are getting it from, but they did not say they were receiving limited batches starting July 29. It is on page 36 I believe, but here is the whole paragraph:

So, with that being said, I'm up to date on the thread and sorry that some of you feel slighted by the presale. We've tried to keep you guys informed as much as possible. The presale email was meant only for its recipients...or I just would have posted it here and FB. There are limited batches coming in daily and we will start shipping to our customers on 7.29. No one else has units yet and we plan to take care of our preregisters first, as stated.

The use of present tense 'there are limited batches coming in daily' implies that at the time (last week) they were presently coming in, not that they would start receiving them July 29.

It's common knowledge that some Chinese like to copy electrical items. Is it racist to state a fact?

It's not just electrical items. Mainland China is known as the knock-off capital of the world for just about any kind of item on the market, and it seems to be sanctioned by their government as there is virtually no control over this issue, and this fact has absolutely nothing to do with race but rather governmental policy or lack thereof.

Counterfeit high-end wines seems to be the newest trend coming out of the knock-off trade in China.

It's more than encouraged by their government when it comes to defense and space technology, but that's a whole 'nother :worms:

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right
On R&R from Vietnam in Manila in the early 70's the markets and stores were filled with knock off US goods and books, records, etc. The Communist Chinese weren't and probably still aren't. signatories to any International conventions, covenants, or laws regarding pirating or copy-write infringement.

Sanctioned is a good word here. I heard a report awhile ago that some knock-off Intel chips made it into some of the hardware in our missile defense systems and that there was a concern of what kind of possible viruses could be imbedded in those chips. Kinda scary, to say the least, but also, pretty ingenious in their ability to pull it off. Hell, I have no doubt that we would do the same thing to them. For all I know, maybe we have.

Anyone ever see the cuban brand cigars sold here? They are completely different companies, but since the US doesnt recognize Cuba, they don't see the Cuban trademarks as valid so its ok. The same would apply to PROC they dont care about us or our trademarks.

I dont think he was saying you left out a part, it was Davinci that left that part out.

Now i've been mulling over this all day and I've come to the conclusion that is exactly what they meant, the shipments should arrive at DV on the 29th. And they do not have them yet, they just know what is coming in from the manufacturer (since they own it).

Otherwise they could have started shipping on Wednesday the 24th, there has never been a "street date" and NOT ANY reason to delay product already in hand.

A bunch of you just got transported over here from the Ascent thread because you can't manage to control yourselves and went off on another rampage over the latest Ascent delays. I don't know what's so hard about keeping that sort of whining in this thread, but it seems too difficult for some of you to handle. I know this post will piss some of you off but trust me, you won't be as pissed off as I am right now.

If it's about ordering and shipping it belongs here, not there. That's really really simple so try to get it straight, dammit!

I know, I too interpreted as they had them and would ship them on the 29th from that paragraph.

But just think about it, why would they delay for the 29th if they have them on the 24th?

They didnt have any. Its clear now they meant the shipments were coming in daily starting on the 29th, such that they can be shipped to customers.

[EDIT: I believe, quite some time ago, possibly in the other-other thread, that she said would not open pre-sales "until the units were in the air." (That's not a direct quote, but be paraphrasing from memory.) So the intent was always to start the pre-sale once the units were in transit. I presume opening the sales a few days ahead of arrival, gave them time to prep all of the shipping labels and boxes and what not???]

I did not leave anything out of that sentence.

Never said *YOU* did. :)

My apologies that I didn't make that more clear.

The use of present tense 'there are limited batches coming in daily' implies that at the time (last week) they were presently coming in, not that they would start receiving them July 29.

Verb tense is fine. "There are limited batches coming in daily starting 7.29, and we will start shipping to our customers on the same day" is perfectly valid, and what I guess should have been said instead.

Also, "coming in" != "arriving". The whole shipping event is a PROCESS, and "coming in" can speak to the whole process, whereas arriving is the END of the process. THey don't just magically snap fingers and have product appear. Even it it is shipped by air, it can still be a multi-day PROCESS. So, it it has left the factory, for example, I don't think anyone would argue that they aren't already "coming in", but not yet arriving.

So, yeah, the whole thing could have been worded better, as it seems there is a lot of ambiguity here. :)

because "Samantha" is a mouthful.
Did anyone who was supposed to have their Ascent shipped today get any sort of notification or explanation from DV that this wasn't going to happen?

I didnt receive anything, and my order is still "awaiting fulfillment"

VaPeD&CoNfUsEd called davinci and was told of the customs delay.

With the delays happening in March ; April ; May ( I was gonna get it for my birthday ) ;
June ; and now July leaking into August . And with their vast experience in the vaping industry ,
like foreseeing manufacturing issues , to even open up shop in China .

Don't you think they SHOULD have been doubly sure before even stepping up to say we are taking orders now? Knowing they have disappointed us on the release dates already ? I'm just saying .

After ringing from Australia half a dozen times i was finally able to talk to a very tired and harassed employee. One thing i think we need to remember is this "delay" and the frustration of many was caused through the total lack of TRUTHFUL information from MANAGEMENT and NOT from the poor employees that have to bear the brunt of angered customers. All this crap is GREAT for sales but not for the workers. She told me that she has been working 24/7 and since last week and all weekend gathering the shipping boxes etc ready to post the Ascent`s. She says that when she came to work today she knew she was going to cop it!! Apparently management are only JUST starting to put on extra workers for the end of the week. I cant believe they are such stingy bastards to make there (from what i gather) couple of workers get all this stuff together knowing they had huge orders ahead of them and the huge profits that they would be getting also. Geez i should be a union man!! I guess im trying to say "dont shoot the messenger".

The part that is left out of that sentence is "...starting July 29th."

Verb tense is ambiguous, and I believe knowingly so (it was not yet fact), and similarly so in other statements made (seeking to feed the frenzied optimism). Even if they bought into their own frenzied optimism, these statements, IMO, demonstrate a careless (or perhaps intentional) disregard for dissemination of current and accurate statement-of-fact. As it stands now -it was neither true then, and not true now.
