On the amazon issue, have you tried to print a new reciept in your account. I have been able to print things I bought a while ago. If it is missing from the page just email them and ask them to email you another copy and you should be good with your return.

Welcome new people...

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum although I've lurked for over a year. I need a portable vape and have been debating between the Solo and the Ascent. I'm a Canadian currently attending Law School in Florida, so I would like to be able to re-sell whichever vape that I purchase at a decent price on ebay so that I do not have to travel with it or send it back to Canada. I was wondering which vape would be more efficient in conserving my herbs. Would the Ascent tend to heat the herbs continually due to the conduction style? Also, is the Solo better at producing higher quality vapor?

Having never seen one (of course)I'd suggest Ascent is, at best, a risky investment. OTHO you can be fairly sure there will be a reasonable demand for good Solos not too far under retail. I seriously doubt the 'good guy price' will go any lower, and it might not stay there forever. Solo is a mature product, Ascent has not yet really reached 'market acceptance', let alone got past other design issues that haven't yet surfaced. Who's to say the bugs are all worked out? Look at the record of other makers. Or DV's last vape, which wasn't without issues, some of which lingered on and brought us two versions when the latch changed (sound familiar?). My point would be such a early model change in Ascent would impact the resale a lot as it did with DV by linking old and bad to that version. Guys want the new, better model.

One is a proven excellent, low to 'no' risk investment. Unlikely to change much. The other a bit of a roll of the dice on both counts IMO.

I remember when they were laced with opium, those were the days!

:smug:

Yup, that was reported to be the goo in the center of the temple balls. 'Nam vets in the day would bring them back. Probably a very good thing they were rare......

They supposedly start shipping the pre-orders tomorrow. I had the same dilemma, the solo is a known quantity and the ascent is not. Also there's about a $100 price difference. Having said that I went for the ascent but am still a fan of the solo.

The difference is grokit he wants to resell as not to bring it back to Canada where I bet he will just buy another one. BTW you can ship it back clean with very little worry but that is a personal choice. We have to ship to Canada all the time for warranty stuff. Like the others said known vs unknown your choice viciouselbow and welcome to the forum .

Cool, thank you for your quick reply. I suppose my questions about the vapor quality differences were premature, but I am fairly new to vaping and don't have any intuitive understanding of the different vape designs.

Edit: I'm a bit paranoid about having to ship or travel with vapes back to Canada. I am partially of Middle Eastern descent and have been hassled quite a bit by security. My check in luggage has been checked every single time I've flown. I remember being detained and questioned when I was eleven years old on a flight from Germany back to Canada.

Hey I've already ordered my Assent, so it should be here soon. I've had solo's for like 2 or 3 years now, with an an EQ before that. Once I've tried my assent ill answer your vapor quality questions.

You can pick a solo up for $160 which is about $90 less than the ascent, and still be able to sell it to someone for $120 used easy. I had to let go of one of my solo's a while back beacuse my buddy needed a vape, and i had three at the time :ko:

Your re-sell asking price for the SOLO will be under $ 160 , very manageable for more people ,
than below $ 250 for the Ascent . :2c:

First off, welcome to the forum, sorry you're having troubles.

My first thought is there's a battery failure here, one of the batteries (there's two) isn't cutting it any more so that the voltage isn't enough to work the Solo? I've never see or heard of this flashing condition, perhaps someone else has? Short of building an intentionally faulty battery pack, I'm not sure how to test this.....

Unfortunately I think you're looking at a warranty return, but let's see if someone else has something to contribute while I think about how to reproduce the problem?

thanks for the response, but my problem was solved after giving the batteries a full 100% charge, my solo works just as well as it did before!

Help FC, I have a Solo emergency!

I accidentally blew into my PN WT while vaping and water somehow got into the GonG and consequently into the unit. Now the unit doesn't seem to be heating up at all. I don't think that much water got inside, but I could hear it sizzling against the heating element after it happened. I shut the unit off and shook it until it seemed like all the water was out. Am I screwed?

Shutting the unit off as soon as it happened, good call.
Shaking it around, might not have been the best idea, but not worth worrying about.

Let it be for a couple days before plugging it in to charge or trying to turn it on or anything like that. If I were you I'd probably unscrew the top part to let it get more air inside. I see you have a PA so if you can't get it to turn on after giving it some time to dry out give it a shot and see if it comes on with the PA.

I would take it apart and remove the battery until it is completely dry, i had a friend that killed his solo with an iso covered q-tip so don't have too much hope.

Yes, as thesoloman said, best remove the battery and do not attempt power up until dry. If you want to speed things up some, you can put it in the oven at lowest setting for a couple hours. Have done this with cell phones and they came back fine. You would be surprised how much water can hide under components on PCBs.

It's techie slang. Electronic things work because there's magic blue smoke inside. Every once in a while, the magic smoke gets out and your computer/TV/whatever is then dead.....because the magic blue smoke got out. Techies don't get out much, it passes for humor don't you know?

Of course it's not. Nobody is making fun of folks with no education. My landlord was plenty educated (just in Italy.....), the point is while he was comfortably supporting his family (partly with my money.....) with what any objective person would see as a disadvantage in the free market, I for all my (questionable) education was struggling and paying his mortgage (in part) with my hard earned money.

Absolutely right Vinicio Tateo was no dummy. He was getting my money and using it to bankroll his families future.....sounded pretty smart to me then, still does now. He got me to 'smarten up' and invest the mortgage money in my name instead.

Read whatever you wish into it, but that was my intent.

OK, after a bit of thought, is the processor dead? Does it recognize the power cord for the charger being plugged in?

OF

The unit does recognize the power cord. The problem that is prevalent is when I turn it on, instead of the heat light on, the charge light is on and red. I am still able to choose a heat level but the charge light will still be on and will not heat up.

Here is a video of my arizer not heating:

You should make the video unlisted instead of private so we can see it if you don't want it to show up on normal youtube. But what happens when you plug in the power cord? Does it charge like normal? Does it do something different? Because in my experience when I turn on the solo and I get a solid red charge light but doesn't heat that means the battery is totally worn out.

Sorry if you already addressed some of those q's in your video, but make it so we can watch it ;)
