It seems the dial in the above picture is different from the one in the first batch that was distributed?

I've got a jet lighter, a mini-torch, a plumbing torch, a firepit, and some hookah coals lying around so we shall see. My money's on the firepit and the plumbing torch.

A hibachi might be kind of cool, grill up some tasty marinated skewers while we're at it :p

I allrdy blew my jet lighters the first day.. they cant handle prolonged exposures to that kind of heat.. I'm using what we call a shallamo here now or a bunsen burner portable.
On a side note seriously watch what you're doing accidents are right around the corner with this thing ^^ ... Just one stupid stoner moment and u get burned... picking up the heatercap only few mins after u put it down... hot as hell..... gaaaaaaah... maybe i shouldnt say this lol scaring people away. :D but no i love this device... just gotta be damn carefull with it... I have allrdy been harcore sublimated :D and still going!!!! burned both hands ^^ .
Depends on what u will get i guess the UFO is best for outdoor situations: It has a steel mass around the heat injector making it hold or retain heat a little longer then the sputnik which has to be constantly heated. Thats what i think about it feel free to correct me: but that steel mass helps retain heat so u can do a few hoots in a row before u need to reheat it :)

Does anyone feel that a smaller bowl gets you more medicated than a larger one with this?

And that if you were to take the same large bowl and smoke it in two smaller bowls, you'd get a lot more fucked up?

Hmm haven't found this or expirienced this but less is better yes, dunno why. Because there is more playroom for the air to maximize the vortex/vaporizing effect, easier for the air to pass thru.. can be number of things.
In any case if i dare fill her up ... i get scorched or even combustion ... so gotta walk fine line here i try to conserve so.

Edit: when i say i havent expirienced this i mean I don't fill her up that far anymore :) This is not my verdamper which can take a little load of 0.5 hehe. No this baby can give u clouds at 0.1. So the first few times i tried it i was like whoa new toy lets fill it up.. i combusted once.... never again. The sublimator is the shit. and i will respect her for that.
so :D Hassan thats a good thing! use less and see where it get you :) if it doesn't hit you enough take some more :p

That whole getting burned in a moment of :whoa: sounds just like something I might do, so the chain part of the UFO really appeals to me; it's just intuitive to grab it even with pliers if necessary.

Holding heat longer is a bonus then, but doesn't that also translate into being a bit harder to heat up to temperature in the first place?

I can see how one of those laser thermometers could be very handy way to calibrate these devices, much more so than for the ac version simply because there's no dial/kaw.

When u torch it it goes a little faster (Edit: think i go about 8 mins to heat it to max or needed temps). I bought the UFO cause i thought it would be able to handle the torch and campfire situations which it does, but it clearly is meant to be thrown into the bbq or something (where it shines) so it can load up the heat sort of speak and u can take a few hoots before needing a reheat again.
:D thermometer yes when u using a torch :D would rock!! I like the heavier hoots where my cannabis is bit to the browner side after being done. Have been able to do that but more close to combustion and even combusted once.. damn even that gets amplified in the device -.-
thermometer good choice I have one lying around from RC cars something like that should do it.

Ive been noticing the tube has started to bend on top and is starting to restrict air flow, any suggestions where to buy medical/food grade pvc tubing? Im in vancouver BC, I noticed in that video with Enrico in china that he had also changed his tubing on top to a yellowish colored 1.
Don't get PVC, it sucks. Look for silicone.

I'm thinking the only change Enrico made to his tubing is use it a whole bunch. ;)
pakalolo is correct, in a lot of Sublimator videos you see prototypes being used which get thoroughly tested but which may get changed before production release. The yellow tube is from a lot of use, we have the Silcon brand High Temp Silicone, advantages from manufactures website:

  • Made from FDA-sanctioned ingredients
  • Able to resist extreme temperature variation: -100°F to 500°F
  • Translucent natural color for visual contact with the flow
  • Resilient, stretchable, and resistant to compression set
  • Odorless, tasteless, and inert
  • Good electrical and weatherability properties — resists U.V., ozone, gases, and moisture
  • Certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF-51) for food equipment materials
  • Peroxide-cured SILCON tubing contains no sulphur or other acid-producing chemicals, thereby eliminating the possibility of staining, corroding, or deteriorating other materials it contacts. It is extremely resistant to ozone and U.V. over long time periods.
The Sublimator cap requires a 3/16" I/D, our 3/16" ID x 5/16" OD fits perfect and you can buy it by the foot and cut it to a custom length that works best for you https://www.planetvape.ca/vaporizer-accessories/vaporizer-tubing.html

...The other unique quality is obviously the atomizer, which works with an inhale-generated vortex to break down the vapor particles into a much finer mist enabling more efficient biological absorption.

So in my mind there are three unique qualities to medicating with the sublimator:
  • thermal mass equilibrium enabling instant full-spectrum vapor extraction
  • vortex generation enabling concentration of the vapor ingredients for
  • atomization of the vapor enabling better biological absorption
Just my :2c:

As far as the available options it's a bit confusing, but this is what I've come up with:
  • It seems that the space travel kit the same as my le kit with the shorter tube?
  • Is the ufo kit the same as the keychain kit?
  • All I would need for off the grid operation is the sputnik, which is not available by itself?
  • Likewise the keychain kit includes an atomizer that I do not need going by the pic?
  • The 14 & 18 mm adapt a bong are the same unit with different teflon adapters on the atomizer?
It would help if planetvape got their shit together with the pictures, this was the best I could do going back and forth from their site and sublimator's.

I think this is an amazing unit that will inspire even more amazing units to come!
:peace:
Hi grokit, your three unique qualities to medicating with the Sublimator are right on. Sorry for the confusing options, the Sublimator line is brand new and all photos on our site are our own, until we actually receive the products, we have nothing to accurately photograph, but the description of what is included for each product should be accurate.

UFO and Sputnik are the same for now, name UFO was chosen because it looks like a UFO. The UFO has always been available a la carte or bundled with the atomizer as a kit. https://www.planetvape.ca/sublimator-ufo-kit.html click on Sublimator UFO only (-$100.00) for photo and a la carte pricing.

Yes, the 14 & 18 mm Apollo is the same unit with different teflon adapters on the atomizer.

Hi hassan, yes the new black box is the timer version. Less is more with the Sublimator, it takes some time for your mind to adjust that you don't need much. Loading too much will give less performance generally speaking than splitting the larger load in half for two hits instead of one. Great observation.

Any chance of selling just the teflon piece so we can swap them out to suit our glass needs? Or should we not be removing that part. Mine came off when my Sub was still new, but I noticed it's stuck on there now, probably because of the oil residue, so I don't know how easy it is to swap them, but thought I'd ask anyway.

Had a fun time partying in the woods for 5 daze... burningman style.

Hey PV, still slackin on them photos! :p

If you want to see the ufo go to their ufo kit page, there's no photo until you select the -$100 ufo only option and then it shows up. PV if you're reading this you guys should let us right click like everyone else does, it would make it much easier to navigate your web site!

Did you see the flush 14/18 gong adapter? That would seem to be less cumbersome than changing the teflon. I found one on ebay for $10 shipped:

We asked about that and the problem that will lead to is a compromised interface between the teflon seal and stainless atomizer due to being taken on and off. When first assembled the stainless threads cut in to the teflon making a secure interface, once removed and put back on the integrity is compromised.

It would be easy for us to just stock teflon pieces and swap them out, but we don't do that, we need to stock the whole assembly as one piece and never separate the teflon from the atomizer.

Hi grokit, we had right clicking disabled for security reasons, sometimes that causes more inconvenience than benefits. Thanks for your suggestion, right clicking is now active.

Thanks for the fast reply PV.

grokit: I do use those exact glass adapters from ebay now, was just curious to see where the limitations were on the teflon. They work well with the Sub, plenty of room for the stem to fit and a great deal 2 for $10. Might be getting more just to have a few extras on hand. They also work well with my vaporgenie/healthstone vape mod. I am more than happy with my current 14mm Sub set up, and damn glad to get home and get to use it again. Portables only take you so far. If I didn't need to come up with my car insurance this month, I'd be getting that UFO right now. Hope to be able to pick one up soon.

Yeah I'm 0/3 on portables so far including the pax, if the ascent isn't the best thing ever as advertised I'm going to resort to something that doesn't need batteries like a lotus or something.

Sounds like they should make a larger threading size as a future update and thread the teflon and atomizer separately so people will not have to spend money on a whole new atomizer just to change from 14 to 18mm waterpipes.

In the mean time people might be better off buying a 14mm atomizer and a glass 14 to 18mm reducer as shown here: https://www.planetvape.ca/glass-18mm-to-14mm-reducer-lowpro.html

Welcome back, jam! Missed you on here...

Happy to be back to the Sub, I imagine?

As far as portability goes - I'm waiting for something that requires a little less labour and patience to use than the UFO design - and I'm sure after the kinks of the first iterations of what has already come forth have been sorted out, Enrico will be working hard at figuring out something more along the lines of a battery powered Sublimator...

Although how one could reasonably expect to juice the Sub from purely battery power, I do not know...

I don't really see a portable sublimator happening, if portable is something you can easily stick in a pocket, because of the nature of the technology -- mainly the thermal mass part. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that does not seem like a component that could be miniaturized and still be effective.

Perhaps a transportable option that runs on batteries, that is a distinct possibility

The way I see it, if you can dream it, it can become a reality...though I don't know how pocket friendly it would be, but that isn't necessary for it to be portable. Anyway, the future is yet to unfold, after all, people used to think the earth was flat, look how far we've come from there, so I have a feeling it can be accomplished. The Thermovape pushed 30watts on a 6v battery set up (not for very long but it worked). I run my Sub around 34 watts, so I know the battery to heat ratio can be achieved with the right size battery. It's just a matter of how compact can it become. Likely hook it up to a smaller deep cell type battery that rides in a fanny pack belt or something. I don't expect to have a pax sized sub anytime soon, but battery technology has been improving by leaps and bounds lately.

Enrico had a battery powered prototype in one of his videos...its coming, just not for awhile. Not pocketable or anything like that, but at least something you can take to the cottage, or camping.

I also remember hearing him say that in one of the vids, but I've seen so many now, I couldn't tell you which one. It was a while ago.
