I think the iso needs to be used with heat. In other words try to iso soak then heat it and see if it happens. Just a guess. There is no way you can match my use but I want details on what happens to you when you try:lol:.

Is it maybe the screen AND ISO reacting?

I have been saying this for days, screen, pong, iso, heat...

I'm almost sure the fogging has nothing to do with heat and iso, the reaction Dreamerr had might be heat/iso related but I always clean my vapes when they are cooled down again and I too had some fogging of the mp but that's it, otherwise it's still going strong so I don't mind the fogging

edit !!!! oops, just realised, heat might not be excluded from the list because I have boiled my mp once in the beginning too, after that I've cleaned it with iso, it was still warm but I could hold it in my hands, I can't recall though if that's when the fogging occured or if that happened later

Did you ISO clean it with the screen in place? I'm starting to think that might be the reason the MP is getting messed up with ISO soaks/cleans, but I have no proof of it.

Yes, I did both, with and withouth, also the boiling was with the screen in place (maybe another point to think of, did all the foggers (thats what I call us) have boiled their mp with the screen in place?)

I'm about to clean my pong right now, no boiling, just iso, I'm going to use it pure and first with the screen in place, I have to do this to loosen the screen because I'm afraid I will break the screen trying to push it out. Also, that's another thing I would like to ask DV, would it be possible to put up those screens of the pong mp and regular mp for sale?

*edit* ok, I'm back from the lab (couch, iso and a few cotton swabs)
I discovered this : my pong did NOT fog, I repeat, did NOT fog when I used 97% iso, I put it on there like it was tanning lotion, let it sit for a few minutes, just for the sake of science and nothing happened, but...where the screen comes in contact with the mp, I had fogging, lots of fogging...
could it be the metal that heats up to a higher temp while vaping thus melting/changing the properties of the mp? like when you are in a sauna, you can sit there for fifteen minutes or longer and be fine but you can burn yourself on a chain when you wear it?

here are some pics of the clean mp (right after cleaning)

the part I cleaned with iso that fogged :

PiTzMUH.jpg

the part I cleaned with iso that did NOT fog :

XKknGNq.jpg

how we (while waiting an anwser/solution) can avoid fogging
IF it has to do with the screen at all that is, I'm not sure and can't
test it because I don't have a new mp but this is how I'm going to do it,
for a long time now I'm putting a screen in my bullet, I curved it a bit and
it fit snug into the bullet, giving me the abiltity to pack my herbs (great vapor and
never any abv sticking to my mp :

hMOGDhV.jpg

tQETpBp.jpg

so who knows, if it has to do with heat/screen/iso or whatever, if it is, all we have to do is take out
our screen and use a screen in the bullet.
hey, we might get even better results (wich are already awesome on its own ! ) because I find the screen
of my mp Always covered in resin after just two session, so now I will inhale all those goodies too in stead of getting them off my screen with a cotton swab.

sorry for the long and multiple posts, can you see its my day off today? :smug:

crap, I just noticed this...ain't nobody try to replicate my fingerprints ok, damn those big ass close ups ;)

BV nice camera work...I am such a spaz.
For the record my mp and pong NEVER fogged unless I don't know what fogging is.
If we have to pull the screen each time we need to get off excess oils that would be unacceptable in my book.
Also for the record I couldn't care less about cosmetic stuff that doesn't interfere with my usage as long as it can be cleaned and not smell after cleaning.

My envelope is out for delivery but that doesn't mean I can wrangle the ups guy. He is like grease lightening. I will try if not it will get sent back tomorrow.

Edit: The ups man waited. He helped me open the well tapped box, I grabbed the envelope and back the mp and pong went. I hope we find out what the issue is. I will write more later I need a nap as I am still exhausted.

I prob haven't used my Pinnacle in almost 3 weeks. The screen is so caked it's nearly impossible to pull off. Still hate bringing it out with me because of the sensitive power button which turns on in my jeans at random. Did this new tip come out which actually stays on this damn thing? Sick of getting flower in my clothes from the bullets when they fall out.

Fair enough I suppose. I also had the tip break off in the mouthpiece. The flow through it sucks enough that I can't be bothered I suppose but I see your point. That said, would have been nice to have seen a few pre-cut screens thrown in there as well instead of the useless cleaning tools. Throw in a few screens, 4 bullets instead of two and a case and scrap the other shit that I never use with that $200 price tag.

End Rant/

Hello all, I'm new here and am thinking of a good portable vape. Now that it's been out for a while, how is the pinnacle? Any wide spread issues?

I use my vaporblunt 2.0 without my mouthpiece as well and vape at 4-5 ALL the time, I NEVER use 1-3, they just are too weak for my tolerance threshold.

Ive never had anything burn/melt.
Then again i dont ever use ISO on it, I just scrub it with the pipe cleaners and a mflb brush. NOOO need for ISO ever, i dont know why people would want to soak their mouthpieces in ISO. The pipe cleaner does the job well enough as long as you dont let it get gunked up.
I'm new here but I would agree. I smoked a tobacco pipe and when I used ISO on the MP it affected it in the same way, fogged up.

mod note: Please avoid back-to-back posts, use Edit instead. Two posts merged.

My tinted pong is melty looking now too :(. Even if its not actually melting it is being ruined somehow .

This issue is very disapointing i use my PN heavily like 2 full charges a day .
The battery is not enough I need a second one to swap off the charger but i will not buy another until this plays out .

I hope you DO NOT start to give us a usage number before mp replacement making the PN mp a wear item is unacceptable to me and i would not have bought this if that was the way this was going to be.
That would be fine for a toy or a gimmick piece but i needed a reliable solid medical device not a toy .

I would like to order 2 tinted pongs and only use P.B.W. on one and see if that solves this for me it would be sweet to get a break from trvb on the pongs id be more than happy to give up the old one..

Never used the standard m.p. so i guess i would have to try that while i am out of a pong .

As for the other common issues, I have never accidentally turned it on and the loose fitting pong gets tighter as you go until cleaned again so those are non issues for me .

I had to put a small dab of super glue to get it to stop pulling out of its case , unfortunately the last time it got pulled out it moved the battery and before that it did not shift around inside the unit .
Now its got a clunk when moved because the battery shifts inside of it ,This makes it feel cheap and could have been avoided in q.c. By simply pulling out to see if it had clicked fully into place .
This unit could not be pushed in to where it could click and one of the tabs that lock in was broken from the get go .

I forgot a screen so my glass got dirty and I don't want to remove it now to clean. I tried rinsing it but it didn't get it all. So without any further ado here is my mod till we find out what is going on with the mp/pongs. I hope they got them yesterday and just can't post cause of FC being down.

It isn't perfect but it works. The silicone is rated to 500F. I did have one that was suppose to be high heat and failed so that part does get really hot. Even SSV tubing won't cut it and the one I tried was rated higher. I will try to find out what it was cause I borrowed a piece to try since the one I had was a small ID but we got it to fit hence not wanting to take it off to clean the glass.

It's gotta be the screen and plastic and ISO reacting. It only happens around where the screen would be touching from the pics posted. I'm curious to see the mouth piece of anyone that hasn't bothered to clean their unit yet... Almost willing to bet there's no loss of structural integrity.

Edit: how about removing the screen and torching it, and cleaning the mouth piece completely separately from the mp? Dry both, reassemble, hopefully no degradation.

I really don't understand how your screen could be so caked. I'd never iso soaked my pong, yet the screen is fine. Every time I reload a bullet, I vigorously brush the screen with the included brush. I use it 1-3 times a day. The only time I use iso is with the vapor wipes, but i only use it on the top part of the pong because I let the bottom stay a bit ressed up. This ensures that my pong stays on nice and tight.
As far as the button goes, someone posted a mod which makes it nearly impossible to turn on in your pocket. Go check it out, it's quite a few pages back.

Even if it is that combo, which I think it is, it is still not acceptable to happen and if it is the plastic needs to be changed.

I did not receive your parts yet. I meet with engineering on Tuesdays and Fridays, so I'm hoping that it will be waiting for me on Monday so we can get this process started.

i removed the screen every time i cleaned my mp and still had flaking

What does the tracking say cause I never wrote it down cause I didn't want the man to leave? I just put it in the envelope he sealed it in front of me and off he went.

Shamoo the caking is between the screen and the mouthpiece. I doubt anyone is talking about the stuff you can brush off.

"The screen is so caked it's nearly impossible to pull off." I read that as "pull off of" or something, I thought he meant the screen was so caked he couldn't pull any air through. My mistake!

Just had a thought here. If the plastic is slightly porous wouldn't it be possible for some iso or water vapour to get trapped inside the plastic. that could be sealed inside the plastic with resin. if this got hot enough to boil that would cause expansion and damage to plastic. that would also explain why its only happening near the screen where the heat is higher.

I think you're on the right track here. We have made some changes that we think will solve the problem, but we r waiting on dreamerrs parts before we pull the trigger.

It may have, it goes to a PO box so it might be there now. I don't have the tracking # on me, I'll send a runner this afternoon.

EDIT: I have the parts, sending them to engineering today.

We got Dreamerr's Parts today, thank you for sending them!

Ok, first a look at the returned Pong: This first pic is from Dreamerr's post a few pages back, the next shot is viewed under 30X magnification of the red outlined area from the first pic. What you will see:

1) we are getting discoloration of the PC from resin buildup, it is embedding into the plastic during use.

2) This is getting a bit more difficult to see, and I apologize that the picture just doesn't get the detail I would want: but a lot of buildup is physically wedged into the plastic. This is due to the pressure of the PC on the Heater core when in use. Pressure+heat=embedded buildup, in this case flecks of material. I want to stress that this in not plastic melting, but a phenomenon known as creep.
3) You will notice what looks like a "melty" surface on the edge of the part. This is NOT melted, as you can see from the 3rd picture, which is a brand new never used pong, the surface is a little porous - you ca only see this under magnification. It is due to the molding process.

Next Section: Broken Rim:
A3eJdul.jpg

9xgqWv7.png

What you should be able to see here is the edge is jagged where the PONG has chipped. The plastic on this first run is a little on the thin side, and this was an issue that, while we did not believe would be a problem has apparently occurred.

Another point to note on this photo, there is no foggy buildup on this part. there is staining of the plastic, and physical damage, but no melting.

OK that wraps up the "investigation" side, moving on to what we are doing about it:

1) Staining of the plastic: This is going to happen when you get the PC in immediate contact with vaporized oils. The oil over time soaks into the plastic and stains it. It is not dangerous. I understand that it is unsightly and not desired. This is one of the big reasons we switched to a tinted material. Staining will still occur, but it will not be as apparent.

2) We have increased the wall thickness of the PONG and Mouthpiece Rim where it is getting chipped. This will get 2 effects: 1) the breakage, which is occurring when you insert/remove the cap from the heater core will no longer occur 2) with a larger wall thickness we will actually better cool the PC and limit the creep and staining rate.

Overall, I want to stress: The Mouthpiece/PONG is NOT melting. There is staining and some instances of breakage, which we are addressing for you now. Again, Thank you to everyone for bringing issues to our attention, and we are doing our best to address any concerns you have with the Pinnacle product.

So does that mean all the pongs/mp's we have now will have the same issue? I was never concerned about staining but going into the pores of the plastic is a bit off putting. I had also stated that I barely used iso except with a q-tip so I had no fogging as you had determined.

Bottom line is now what happens with all our old mp's and pong's because chipping is not kewl. I was very careful puting mine on and off and can't understand how it would have chipped unless it was that creeping that you are talking about. This will also mean that the mp/pongs need to be replaced ever few months:shrug:.
