Arizer Solo

Just wanted to pop in a share my experience about the Jamesco PA solution. I placed the order for the two parts this weekend. It shipped Monday and I received it today.

It did not come with the outlet cable as stated by others. However, like everyone else I have plenty laying around. All I had to do is connect the tip on the end and the cable. Plugged in my Solo and immediate power. Hell yes! Thanks OF! PA for my Solo for about half the price of the OEM unit. IF you're thinking about going this route...seems the way to go if saving some coin is important. Still loving the Solo.

Peace

Stems stems stems...ok I will try to explain this from the last info I have.
PV has a glass blower and makes stems. the regular PVHES they were using stock and cutting them but I think they might be having them blown now as well but :hmm: . In either respect all glass is slightly different but they will be the closest to the stock with the modifications. The stock stem by design is restricted from being flat and no channels and also the four hole screen. So the PVHES makes channels and grooves but still leaves the slight restriction of the four holes. The turbo opens it up totally and the heater has a hard time keeping up with so much air flow. If you have to slow your draw down sooooooo much what is the point of the open airflow IMO.

As far as shorties and stuff I don't get why you would need a smaller bowl then the small one it already has so I can't answer that except to say whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. I don't use gongs but have read some like it some don't but it is for the same reason with the airflow.

I hope this now helps, the few that asked, to fully understand.

Chris, once your retaining ring loosens up you won't have to lift the stem or you can get the sanitary tip or a hes stem.

For those of you trying to figure out which stems to buy, I'll share my experience. I have 2 stock stems and bought a PHVE gong. Honestly the HE gong is too much airflow and I have to wait in between hits, I have had my solo drop 2 whole levels during a big hit. Ishall use my stock stem in my old school soft glass bong and the restriction is perfect there. I wish I had bought a normal gong adapter for it and a PVHES for dry hits. I also agree with Dreamerr that I really don't see the point in the turbo, but the normal restricted draw doesn't bother me that much to start with. The only time I really even notice it is when I go from my LSV to my solo and out only takes a second to adjust my draw back to the solo.
For those that have said you have to pull too hard or its giving you a headache, you need to slow your draw so it matches the natural restriction. The " milkshake" draw is a good way to describe the restriction but I think it might be misleading because you don't have to suck on the stem like a milkshake but it feels like the restriction of a milkshake. if you find yourself sucking on it, slow down and you will enjoy it even more. patience young grasshopper

Krizzle

Hi Very high
@ChrisX

i have a screen cut to fit the diameter of the "crucible" (as you call it) and it is placed flush at the bottom of the heating surface. keeps the stem raised a bit from the bottom.

@Krizzle

thanks for the most excellent demonstration of your copy/paste skillzzz. i was looking for a little explanation from someone with experience with those products. do you have any helpful information? like, is the "pvhes straight" the same length as stock stem? and the shorty, it just has a shallower bowl but same length stem?

thanks!

As my copy and paste skillzzz showed you its the "overall stem length remains unchanged from stock" so yes they are the same length as the stock stems. The planetvape information answers most of your previous questions so Sorry if copying and pasting wasn't up too your standards of demanded information. I can vouch for the PVHES stems but people on this thread don't seem so keen on the turbo variant as the solo is meant to have a restricted airflow. Anyway hope that helps.

Quick question, i use the original 4 hole bent glass and its become really loose when sitting on top of the heating chamber.
Is this normal?

[/quote]

Yup, which is why all the interest in the high temperature o-rings (to keep it from falling out....). The ring seal on top of the oven expands some over time. The other stem will end up loose as well.

Enjoy it, nothing wrong here.

I refuse to pay 50$ i think it's such a ripoff and a smart move of the company but it really is too expensive for a fucking power adapter

Try to watch in HD. Was shot with a phone.
Looks funny when you are really medicated, and try to video with the phone in one hand. watching through the phone screen, and try to scrap the dish with the other hand... looks easier than it was. Sense of deepness plays mind games on me :D

This is an ISO reclaim from Solo stems, that I did like a week before and has been sitting covered and warmed up every 3 to 4 hours with a heating pad.
It's so good that I was using it and not storing it. By the time I shot this video I went through almost half of it.

Here you have the ISO reclaim on a dab. Works as well in my Solos. As you can see I tested my reclaim so far. I'm just waiting to re-reclaim that bub and nail plus dome

There is more from Solo stems. This video is about pure reclaim.

And after, comes the test :)

Just tried for the first time the wood stem w/screened metal bowl: Nice improvement in draw (a bit easier, more comfortable); the metal bowl which comes into direct contact with the crucible I think conducts/transfers more heat to the contents than does glass...conveys good semi-dense vapor at a 3-4 setting...the metal bowl gets very hot to the touch, and the wood stem can get warm in a 6-7 draw session. Comes equipped with a fine screen held by a ring clip. Extremely well made - a must have improvement to the Solo afficionado;)!

Sounds like a good reason for you not to buy one to me. Chances are, even if it works flawlessly, you'll still feel ripped off every time you use it....and how are you going to enjoy it that way?

As a consumer in a free market, it's your call (as IMO it should be).

With good luck, Brother Pipes will be offering you an attractively priced alternative in a few months, once he gets into production....and with real live Canadian Labor Content (CLC) no less!

I really like the PVHES stems, except mine cracked and broke after about a month :/ I was using it normally but when I pulled the stem out the bowl was cracked. I'm guessing the 4 notches make the PVHES stem more fragile and the O-ring planet vape includes increases the force needed to insert the stem. They're also quite expensive at $22 plus shipping, I would order another but I'm waiting for the 18mm female gong to come back in stock so I can order both and save on shipping.

First OF you aren't showing me any love today and I am sooooooooooo tired I need love:cry:
Now on a real note. When you reclaim from a solo stem or anything it just looks messy and it looks like you lose a lot because it is so sticky you can't get it into a jar or where ever you are going to store it. Is there a trick and proper tools you need to do this?

Someone a long time ago gave me something that looks similar to that goo but it was a bit harder not as melty and I couldn't figure out how to use it. I now have it for a few years and it is like a piece of glass.

I used a torch once. It gets tricky because you can start vaping the reclaim as well, or worst, combustion :(
There's those little jet torch lighters that may do the trick too.
I wait patiently and pick with a dabber.
I thought about using a hair dryer but I don't know if it's enough warm. I use Nordstrom free makeup containers for storage

anyone here practice yoga? just hit the solo with a "yoga breath." its a slow, long and steady inhale.

This is the best technique to use with PVHES. If you inhale at the same speed as you would a stock stem the increased airflow diminishes the vapor density. With a slow and steady draw, PVHES produce thicker vapor than stock stems.

The wood stem breathes better also, and produces better vapor! Love the looks of it on the Solo.

So happy about the PN WT.
Makes Solo hits very smooth.
I tried to draw as hard as possible to see if I get splash back , nothing.
For me, my own Dremmel modified turbo PV GonG stem works great. Consistent easy airflow and great amount of vapor even in low temperatures and high speed drawing.

This was another more positive trial. This time half of a stem, Bubba Kush. Taste is awesome.
PN WT delivers. Planning to use it always on the go. If you were not sure about it. Check it out :)

Hello. I ordered a brand new solo through ebay about a month ago. The battery has not been as long as described which was about "3 hours"; instead it lasts an hour tops. about 1 red light vanishes per 10-12 minute session.

The problem is, that when i plug it in, 1 or 3 lights are flashing on and off and the charger doesn't indicate anything anymore.

Since then, the quality of the vape has gone down, and I'm not sure if it's working anymore at all.

Help?

I NEED YOUR HELP

Sometimes when i use my solo i like to keep a little water in my mouth and use that to cool the vapor down, but last night a little went through the glass tube and i didn't put much thought into it, but today i went to use it and the unit didn't heat up. I opened it up and discovered that the wires that connect the device to the heating unit were disconnected. Thankfully the electronics still work. Is there anyway to fix this myself? Also, the device was purchased less than a year ago but i bought it off my friend, so can i still get it fixed under warrantee? Thank you so much for any help.

Two different issues I think. 3 hours is optimistic but possible probably. At lowest level and without drawing air into it (it will probably idle on step 2 that long? Not to worry, half a dozen sessions is probably more normal. There's a few sessions left even after the lit lights go to none, but it's not really that good for battery life to drain it too far down.

Secondly it sounds like you too have a marginal voltage charger. Lots of guys (a dozen?) have reported the same problem (no charging). This happens about 11 VDC on the units I tested. Too bad you went through EBay, you may have trouble getting a warranty replacement, but it's the charger you most likely need.

A low cost alternative can be ordered here:
http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/st...001&productId=1940416&catalogId=10001&CID=PDF

It should come with a normal computer type power cord according to the site, but lately a different supply proved to no longer come with one if you don't have one handy you might ask them?

You'll also need one of these adapters to match the 'funny little connector' on the Solo:
https://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/s...&catalogId=10001&pa=2113703&productId=2113703

Radio Shack also sells a universal adapter, take your charger into the local store to show them?

I opened it up and discovered that the wires that connect the device to the heating unit were disconnected. Thankfully the electronics still work. Is there anyway to fix this myself?

I'm at a bit of a loss here. There are four wires to the upper deck, two heavy ones to the heater, two smaller ones from the temperature sensor back down. They plug into the heater assembly, and should plug back in? Other wise, the actual leads are soldered to the header boards that the cables plug into, if you've managed to pull them loose you'll need to solder them back.

A small amount of water should not have been a problem IMO.

Good luck with it.
