My old amethyst Pax has a new buddy:

Aside from the mouthpiece, they seem virtually identical to me. The surface texture is slightly rougher, but it's difficult to notice. If I hadn't seen comments here about it I would never have noticed. I haven't done any tests for warmup times, etc. but Ploom reassures me that none of that has changed.

Nice color combo!

A deep forest green would be sweet too...

When I heard they were doing a green Pax, that's what I was hoping for.

Haha, I have a friend who swears by having two PAX. It makes sense given you can't replace the battery :/... if you're really about that PAX life haha

I bought my second Pax the day after I got my first. I just couldn't handle the thought of waiting when the battery died . It's great to always have one ready to go!

Use a magic eraser (Melamine foam) instead unless you want all those metal shavings everywhere.

Use it like a Q-tip... actually ON a Q-tip.
You wont lose a strand... if you don't re-use them.
The only downfall to magic eraseris that melamine foam erasers wear out quickly -- just like pencil erasers do
and they DO leave sediment.. as does an eraser~

I dunno man, I can't imagine spending $500 on a set of Paxes. That said, I would totally get one new if they just had a god damn replaceable battery! But, if you've got people buying two units with internal batteries instead, I guess why would you change that business model

I like having two it's pretty damn awesome. The only down side is when you kill both in one night. Its pretty sweet bringing two and a charger to my buddies, I'll alternate and just leave one plugged in all the time, its a definite solution to looking for a home model(in that you dont have to worry about power as long as you are near an outlet), and their still portable.:D:rockon:

I have to say the more I use it the bigger of a fan I am of it.

I havent stirred any bowls yet. Recently I have been stuffing the oven full and going at it on HIGH temp. Getting lots more clouds now.

My unit is still a little dirty and I haven't cleaned it 100% though. I discovered a few tricks which I'm sure are already covered in here and nothing actually new but I wanted to share them anyway~

  1. When the light should be purple for warming up or green for hitting, it might turn to the color of your temperature. Aside from cleaning and taking off/blowing into the mouthpiece and reseating it, I found breathing softly into the mouthpiece for a couple seconds while it's attached will often put PAX in heat up mode.
  2. If it keeps going back to the temp color when I'm trying to get it to warm up, I'll just put my thumb over the mouthpiece on top. If you apply the slightest amount of pressure then it should push the spring hard enough to keep it warming up. I did this and let it warm up to the HOT setting all the way. Worked fine and didn't need to trick out the mouthpiece after that to keep it running well.
  3. It hits very much like an NO2 at high temp. Low temp is delicious but I need to change up my hitting patterns to keep getting visible hits.
  4. If you dont own Dentasticks or Doctors Brushpicks, buy some!!
Next I will take out the whole spring to clean it :)

I am very tempted to tear the PAX apart completely!! I want to know how the battery works! I must know if I can upgrade it! I keep doing 2 bowls back to back and then it gives me that sad battery low blink. Gotta go throw it on the charger while I console the NO2.

Don't do that! theres lots of pictures on here of disassembled pax units, theres nothing too much to look at inside and if you put it back together wrong or loose a part you'll be a sad dude.

no-solder swappable batteries. the gray battery is the original, the green is a panasonic $15.00, the purple ones are chinese 2 for $12.00. i soldered micro bullet connectors on the batteries and wires, just plug em in and go. theres not a big difference in performance, but the panasonic does get almost 2 hours of high (red) on party mode. they all charge up to green in 1hr 10min, but I'll bet the larger capacity batteries need to stay on longer to get a full charge. I did the mod just for kicks once i saw ppl on here doing it. I left the original battery intact, I'm confident i can put the pax back together in original shape, should i ever have to send it back.

AWESOME! Always love to see other people who know what they're doing and aren't scared with electronics on here. Should I have any battery problems I'll do that

I might find a way to just be able to hotswap out some AW IMR 18650's in it. It would hit a lot harder, i'm sure!!

Is this thing just trashing me or does it really keep doing different stuff when I roll it in my hand. So far looks like 3 rolls per mode, 1 fast party, 2 slow party, 3 I think it makes the light motion sensitive, maybe 3 or 4 more modes. Am I nutts or just didn't read enough yet?
I used it all weekend and I'm SO glad I got one. No connection issues until today after I cleaned it for the first time. I'll absolutely be getting a second.

Very cool, I got these a while ago :D the motion ones my favorite. If you adjust the temp in these modes do you get a blue temp setting?

I noticed that too. Any idea what temp that goes to?

I am also comsidering getting another Pax new to have one with warranty. But I should really save that money for the inhalater.

For anyone who has ordered directly from pax, how does the shipping look?
Is it discreet?
I am getting mine tomorrow, and I still live with my parents.
A quick response would be appreciated.

Man what model number do u guys with the multi party modes have?

Super jealous :D

Do you mean serial number? The Pax doesn't come in model numbers. My emerald Pax serial number is BD#####. The amethyst is AG#####.

My black pax is also an AG#####, I wonder what the old pax's identification numbers are, vs the "new" (the upgraded mouth piece) and the "newest" pax
