i just received my ssv this morning, love it! The blemish is minimal, jut a misprint on the base, looks like the bottom half of the word giggle. haha. it ended up being gold with a red base. pretty cool as I was just expecting silver. I ordered a fatty wand with it, but it is only like a quarter inch longer than the regular wand. It seems like this could just be the normal variation in two standard wands. Isnt the fatty wand supposed to have like a bubble shaped bowl? The site says 5x the load, but this cant even do 2x.

Sounds like they missed the "fatty wand" on the order.

Now the way i hit it, it seems to work for me...but it seems a lot different than what most people do from what i have skimmed/read.

I crank it almost to max actually, probably 3/4th at minimum. "7-8" is about minimum for me (on he heat)

I also hit it pretty quick, hard, and heavy...i always get nice thick tasty white clouds, but it seems to require much effort.

I wish i could keep it around 12 or lower and get as medicated but I dont seem to be hitting it right or something.

I am wondering also if maybe I am not filling the wand enough? I have Spherical GG wand.

Try this keep it on about 8 or 9 for 5 minutes then pack a quarter of the bowl gently packed put on/in heater cover and turn down to 1 or 2 and hit slowly. If you get an aroma top and keep it on about 3, most of the time, it will be warm enough to rip away without a wait.

Im a visual learner here! hahah.

Also, even at max temps my herb doesnt seem to be getting all that dark, it toasts it into a more golden light brown colour, not dark brown like my MFLB or VB

I would check your heater cover and make sure it is in place correctly, also check to see if the ceramic rod is all the way out. Make sure you turn your unit off for a few minutes to cool of course...

HC fits nice and snug over the metal post so I dont think there is a seating problem with that. Goes on smooth and comes off smoothly.

When i press down on the ceramic stick it seems to be in place, its got a little bounce to it so im assuming there is a spring or something underneath it? it looks to be set like how all the photos ive seen are. Glows nice and bright too, so I dont think there is a problem with it as I can get awesome hits at really high temps w/ hard draws but id like to not have to put so much effort into it all the time

From what I am hearing your good to go, I suggest an old aroma top will help insulate your unit...

But that wont work with the new "oil flavor" kit...for dabs and whatnot, which i ordered.
I think I just prefer it at the higher temp settings lol. I now learned that drawing slow at 2/3rds + gives me really really good hits, better than drawing quickly and less work! ha!

Maybe im still not doing it right but it seems to work for me.
Plus, the bright orange glow is soothing

Just kinda disapointed that i cant explore anything under 7/8 o clock

Mind you...lighter hits dont medicate me much...
I have a stupid high tolerance, which is why i said fuck combustion and went to the land of the vapor trails, which medicates me 10x's more than combustion ever did!
but the SSV gets me wrecked after just one bowl even if my technique is off! WAY more than my VB2 or my MFLB has ever. Anyways, im high...rambling, sorry.

lol no need to be sorry enjoy me some good rambling, at least about this stuff! Your story similar to mine with high tolerance and all. Your unit sounds fine maybe I was misunderstanding I don't get good hits below 10am really anyways and the best hits on mine are about where yours are 1-2pm or 2/3 around.

I have my ceramic heater pulled out as much as it will go. Then place my HC down as far as it will go without touching the heater itself.

My theory is that you must align the bottom intake hole on the HC with about the middle of the ceramic heater. That way the incoming air hits the hottest part of the heater and allows for a continuous stream of hot air. I have three HC, one of them is a beast.

How big is the intake hole? Is it smaller than the HC opening?

Dont you guys find that if you push your hc all the way down as far as it will go you lose mobility of the wand when in use? I think the difference in the temps people use are mainly due to the different sizes of the wands .When i set my friends ssv up i used the temp i do and choked almost on the thick vapor and on closer inspection i found the diameter of his bowl was a lot smaller than my wands. I have just cut one of my wands down and use a lot lower temp with that now due to it being closer to the heating element.

I went through what you are now and am pretty certain it is the different sizes that the wands come in as glass blowing is not precision engineering so they have big differences in each wand. If you have a shorter bowl it will be nearer the heating element so will use a lower temp for the same amount of product as when you use a bigger wand. If you stuff your wand to almost full you will also use a lower temp as the product will be very close to the heating element. I just bought three wands and cut them down so i have a "party" one "regular" one and a mini beast for really small amounts. You can buy a vaporbrothers mini wand if available in your country to save the hassle.

How did you cut them down?

Used a carbide saw to cut then a diamond file to round off any sharp edges and a buffing wheel to finish , however not everyone has access.

Since im going to order some new whips anyway im going to cut this one down shorter and see if that helps as well.

If your heat is turned almost all the way up, it could be the angle of your heat cover in relation to the element like Tweak touched on. When I got my aroma top it pushed my heat cover towards me bringing the intake hole closer to the element and improving my heat by about 3 hrs

Well my ceramic stick has a slight lean to it, its straight, not crooked or anything, just not perfectly centered in the unit.
I guess ill just keep experimenting
