Herb Grinders

No, you will get more of a fine shred... not an extra fine grind. The SCS Mini will get close to a MFLB grind, but not close enough for me.

I recomend the Volcano grinder for the MFLB, it will grind as fine or as coarse as you want and not hurt your fingers. It's super cheap, works fast, and I can grind about 3 trenches worth at a time.

at the moment i am grinding my herbs with scisors...and i already have a grinder that looks exactly the same as the volcano.i got it as a gift from green house coffee shop :p. but since the scs grinds so well with 3 turns i thought if u keep turning it would make a fine grind.

i have my eyes on a santa cruz shreder also but before i spend more money for this month i am really curious to know if the grinding of the santa cruz is fine enough to use for the mflb...i am sure for the inhalater it will be just fine.but the question is if i keep grinding will i manage a fine grind even close to the mflb grinder for example?
I bought a Santa Cruz 2 piece mini on eBay for $19 delivered-better than the OEM price. I'm very impressed with the finish. Best I've seen outside of Space Case. That has nothing to do with performance, but it's nice to have a grinder with no imperfections. The 4 edge tooth design is slightly different from others as far as the shape, but MixnBall and even some cheaper brands have a similar 4 edge design, so nothing special grind wise. The 4 pc. models are too pricy for me. I'm still good with a years old 4 pc. Sharp Crusher-better tooth design than Space Case (and certainly the Mendo) for a fine grind, and cost me about $15. To me, unless you want to scree kief, a 2 pc. is the way to go, and even then, some sifter boxes are pretty affordable.

I disagree if you're talking about the mini 2 pc. Any small size 2 piece with this kind of tooth design will do a good enough job for the MF in my experience. My 2" MixnBall does a great job. I rarely have to run it a 2nd time through a 30mm size, unless the herb isn't really dry enough. You just have to grind until you're satisfied.

Yeah, I am borderline slapping myself for spending so much on a grinder, but its sweet. I've used some cheaper grinders in the past, and was not too happy with the metal flakes I was finding in my herbs, so I bit the bullet and bought a SC at first which rectified that issue...now with the SCS built like a tank, I know I won't have to buy another unless I lose it.

That being said, if you can find a cheaper alternative that's well built, go for it...I'm just a bit of a gadget freak, so cool toys are a weakness :D
That's why I bought my medium SCS ... didn't really need it ... just wanted it so I'd be able to have an opinion. Pleasant surprise that I prefer it to my SC.

So I was with my buddy the other day, and he had the smallest grinder I've ever seen. It was a 2 piece only about 2-3 cm in diameter, unknown brand, and to my surprise it produced a very fine grind when he used it. Seeing as how it ground very fine and its so small, I was thinking it would be a great vape grinder so he gave it to me. I was right, the fine grind was perfect for my eq and lb and its the perfect size to grind one session as it can't hold more than .5. Only problem is its so small that I'm sure it would be impossible to use for a large handed person, glad mine are slim... it feels well made so I hope my hunch is correct and its not fragile or anything.
But as far as preformance goes, dam am I ever surprised!

I was not talking about the Mini when I said "No, you will get more of a fine shred... not an extra fine grind"... I was speaking of the normal sizes.

With my SCS Small... If I keep grinding (too much), I just get some dust stuck around the outside edge making a mess... the rest is still a "fine shred". It's a great grinder, but not for the MFLB... IMO.

The SCS Mini does grind much finer(will work for the LB), just not as fine as my MF nano or Volcano grinder. Also, to get the finer grind you have to really fill it and that makes it very hard to turn.
so the questions is 2 pc scs or 2 pc space case?
Out of those choices, I think the Small 2-piece SC would be better for what you are wanting.

The SCS does have the best finish you will find on any grinder today.

No shit!!! That looks exactly like the one I have. Where is the white part? Is that what makes it a limited edition?

EDIT... Just realized mine is a small...

It's no better than Space Case. You can't beat perfection. A flawless finish doesn't = better grinding though, so while I really like the 2 pc. Mini I got for $19 delivered, I'll take a pass on the pricier versions.

"Our ultra-high quality grinders are the only ones truly scratch resistant"- Not true. My MixnBall grinders are "truly scratch resistant".

"the ONLY Medical-Grade grinder in the world!" - Because only the SC grinders come this clean? Right. They DO get the award for the biggest hype in the grinder world.

As much as I used to love my 2pc medium space case, the 4pc medium Shredder is leaps and bounds better at shredding my 62% moisture buds instead of just mushing them and making a big moist ball out of them. The biggest difference is that it doesn't try to cut (which cannot be done without a lot of oxidising of the plant matter) but somehow disassemble the bud if you get what I am saying... I would never compare the two again if we speak about properly moistened buds. The dry stuff is easy, my fingers can do it! My Space Case just never produced such a fluffy and undamaged load! :2c:

I do agree with both camps..SCS has definitely hammered down that "Apple" type hype. That being said, I love the damn thing. I have a SC as well, and the SCS is much more solid, at least in feel, IMO. The way it grinds is smoother in a way, as well. Of course, these are just my own impressions. YMMV.

That being said, I am a big fan of saving money...so if you find a grinder that does the job for cheaps, go for it. I'm just a spendy gadget guy.

I love my SCS...better then the SC IMO. Not hating...I have both but there is just something about the SCS that makes me reach for it every time. Perfect grind...every time.

Nothing clever to say......
I just use the Storz and Bickel herb mills. They are 9 dollars, grind exceptionally well and last a long time. Plus they have compartments for storing bud.

I couldn't agree more.
Changed how I thought about grinding, barely use metal at all anymore, like to see the grind happen, better storage that keeps glands with what I am going to vape....etc, but " grind exceptionally well " , is the main reason.

I just wanted to reiterate how much I'm liking my med 2 piece SCS.

I've gone through what I consider to be a fair few grinders so far;
Medium space case 2 pce (titanium finish)
Small no brand 2pce
Small no brand 4pce
Large no brand 2 pce
Large no brand 4 pce
Another no brand 4 pce (which i currently use as a sifter box :))
2 S&B Acrylic grinders (my favourite before I got the SCS)
An acrylic grinder that came with my EQ (very similar to the S&B ones)
And a Meduim Santa Cruz Shredder (red)

I was never too happy with any of my metal grinders, the space case was OK, but I usually ended up grabbing the S&B over it.
I'd get a pretty good grind with the SC & the S&B, but I'd usually need to run some scissors through it to get my grind the consistency I was after.

Not only does the SCS deliver a nice consistent grind (no annoying lumps), I love the "fineness" I get (I was gonna say consistency there, but then I'm using 2 different meanings of consistency in the same sentence ).

I still find a electric coffee grinder to be the most convinient option at home (fastest, finest grind), but if I need to be quiet, or I'm out at a friends place, the SCS is performing superbly.
I'm thinking of grabbing a large 2pce at some point:)

Hey Everyone,

Happy Holidays! WOW... Thank you on behalf of the entire Shredder team. We have been working our butts off since we launched around a year ago. My name is Josh and I handle much of our marketing and social media. I also vape daily!

A few of you were talking about grinding things finer. Really our mission with the Shredder is to create that perfect fluff. As an aside, if any of you need a Pollen Press.. we now have you covered.

t-dub: Happy you're enjoying the SILVER/WHITE. People are responding well to the 'satin' finish.

Tweek: regarding any Apple-type hype, we really are passionate about our products. And we work with some of the most creative engineers. Disruptive *stoner* innovation just comes from refining these products and keeping our standards as high as possible. The hype/feedback just keeps us inspired.

Really just wanted to THANK YOU AGAIN for the support. If you have any questions, about our company or products, I'm here to help.

See you all in 2013!

So I checked our sponsored retailers and none of them carried the SCS. Where'd you guys purchase yours? I checked SCS's site, but just wondering who else carries them.

Thanks....... :)

One more thing. I have a 2pc ti SC and most all you guys like the SCS better. How much better is it? If I get it, I plan on getting the medium 2pc but is the difference really worth 34 bucks? I know..........subjective question, but I'd like to hear from ya anyway.

Definitely subjective....I have a medium 4 piece space case and it's in great shape, so my motivation for the SCS was purely lust. That being said, when I got my large 4 piece SCS, I was blown away by its construction. Not saying SC is poorly built by any means, but these guys feel so solid and nice in the hand. Does it grind any better? Nah...it might fluff the buds a bit differently, and feels a bit smoother in action than my SC, but it doesn't get the job done any better than any other well built grinder. Would I re-buy it over my SC? A million times over...it's just a real pleasure to use from a luxury perspective. Also love my blue colour
