Jd .I m looking at Lithium ion setups and how small they could be for say a hi.But yes i have a bike battery .theyre great and portable.just dreaming after reading BDVs post:)

u bwade wunner,
the one alan sells is smaller but not digital

Have you used that one/Do you know if it's still on offer? I remember a few pages back folks mentioning he might not be offering it anymore.

I don't really care it it has a digital display. I mean, the HI itself doesn't... the power supply certainly doesn't IMO.

This will be one of the first things I experiment with when I get my HI. Does anyone know how many watts they draw?

Can I just say congrats Alan on building such a fantastic product and gathering this huge dedicated fanbase! Not many people have the skill to achieve what you have!

How's the move going?

Here here, Tom! Congrats are definitely in order for our JedHI Master. My, how this thread has grown since I first took a gander in January. Placed my order in Feb before Alan got crushed with orders, and I've been happily married to my HI for the last few months .

Cheers, Alan!

I'm liking 11.2 and 11.5.

I'll crank it up to 11.8, if I want to get the last of it... but by then, its usually constricting the airflow too much.

(edit: I hate typos. even when medicated)

BigDaddyVapor - Glad to hear you are getting the hang of the new SS roasting tube. The precise temperature control of a VVPS allows you to roast at the temperature you like the best.
Nice video with the SSFG. The 14/18mm adapter seems to work well by pulling it rather than the roasting tube to clear the vapor.

OhTheAgony - I do like getting the feedback for tube ideas and modifications. Just think of the benefit you are providing to everyone. The dimple is easy enough to make that I could have different depth bowls. A drill and file would leave a smooth / even edge if you want to modify them.
Will definitely keep you up to date on any new poly gongs I make. They would work great in an ISO soak. The pongs will work really well with the glass roasting tips since the dimensions are not affected by moisture like with the wood tubes.

Ed - Thanks for posting the photo. It looks very nice. I enjoy the glass roasting tips a lot. The tubes have a nice feel to them. With the correct size glass tubing, glass tipped wooden Solo tubes should be possible. Hope the HI is not raising your tolerance too much.

Jeppy - Nice piece of glass. Can't wait to see you get it dirty. Will get the new heating element out to you today. Wish all household appliances were this easy to repair.

u bwade wunner - Thanks for finding the photo of the wood light saber. That would be so cool to make a HI that looked similar. The battery pack for the Torch would be shorter in length than 3 of the 18650's. I would like the battery part to be about the same height as the HI so it doesn't get too long when they are joined together.

kingofnull - Finding small, reliable, variable power supplies has been a challenge. The ones I were selling have become very hard to find. I'm not sure of the reason. Would be nice to find someone here in the states making them, but everything seems to be made in China these days. One I am looking at has an adjustment knob right on the wall wart but no voltage display. Most I have found require a large purchase. It would be nice to know there are no design issues before getting them.
I have not tried an inline dimmer yet. Perhaps I should get one to try out.

CentiZen - The voltage / resistance calculation shows around 7 watts of energy usage. The PD had claimed the equivalent of 2 night lights of power draw and it uses the identical resistor.

Tom - Thanks. The responses have been overwhelming. I'm happy to be able provide such a useful device and that it is working so well for people.
Moving is never fun, but at least it is forcing me to get organized and throw out a lot of unnecessary stuff.

Why's it so quiet around here? VH has been around, so has bOObs... on the forum.

I think they've moved onto "greener pastures". Uh huh... they think the grass is greener over on the other side of whatever new gimmick vape's fence, is the flavor of the day!

Come back, VH and bOObs. We will accept you with open arms.

Thanks Alan Maybe that hollow bottom may be of use after all for a plug in battery pack.Who would'nt want one of those as a back up when out and about..that wood be the whole deal done.

love to use the Hi in some way out place like on a mountain top or deep in the woods.

about batteries.someone mentioned panasonic rolling out an 18650 4000ma battery soon.what would vape time be with 3 x 4000ma Batts roughly? 3.4 volts each. 1 hour ?

it would be flaming hot .no problem toasting marshmallows for sure:D

Edit BDV their sure to be getting Hi er and Hi er no doubt:)

I'm really digging how well the HI does with really small loads...makes for a great one-hitter. I filled that nipple stem about 1/4 full about five times yesterday starting at about 6:30 pm and was in a good place until bedtime around 1 am. When I put a small amount in there I can take a long draw that gets thick at first and then wispy at the end as I cache out the bowl in one hit...makes for good maintenance hits throughout the evening. And the bubbler is great for feedback as to when the stem is done!

Alan...is it possible for you to use a finer screen in the stems? I haven't compared it to my others, but I think it may be a little coarser.

can i stick my male joint in there?
I love it, Ed! Awesome. Here is a quick take on a piece I got just for the HI. I got it from the thedablab.com. They are located in S.F. I also have to say that I feel very comfortable making a hi $ purchase from these guys. They answer phones immediately, if you have any problems or any questions at all, and don't feel comfortable on the phone,,,,you can Skype them. Your purchase is sent 'bombproof'. I ordered on Monday evening and had my glass in hand yesterday afternoon. Check them out,,,,they have an awesome selection.

you sure look happy playin with your worm :D

not sure what your talking about, i haven't gone anywhere. just been busy, so i don't have time to make real quality post. i must admit that i've moved over to the concentrates more now. but when i do have some quality vaping time, it is the vape that i tend to use.

Hey! I've been here. There are no greener pastures. I'm still checking this thread daily. I posted recently. I'm not going anywhere.

I played around with finer screens on the SS tip tubes and found they clogged too quickly. I was also using finer screens in my first turbo tubes because they held the silicone better. That was before I figured out that hammering the screens made them larger and fit better. The shiny surface of the screen also seems to stay clean longer.
I got some fine screens by accident so I will give some a try in the turbo tubes again. It may require changing screens more often, but less particulate will make it through when using for direct draw.

I like the small and concealable size of the turbo tube. Nice that you are getting single hits when using the glass nipple and a small amount.
