Hopefully that will give a general comparison between the all glass stems out there on the market (or used to be on the market , Best wishes Rick & Fam). Obviously the SS Zap stems are not glass, but many have them so they are used only for comparison. As shown above, the UD stem is larger in inside diameter (ID). The GonG UD stem also has variable screen placement depth, one of the main advantages of the UD stem design over other fixed/SS design IMO. These two variables more than double the size of the load that can fit in the new UD glass stem (Maximum Load Volume) when compared to the HI or Zap stems. I prefer to load the UD and HI stem about half full, thus the actual volume of my loads would be half the max volume. These are still well above the standard SS Zap stem. This should also provide a good reference for what stems will fit into your log port, and what stems will fit around your port, depending of the vaporizer and stem paring. I like the longer UD glass stem as a standalone stem, similar to a Zap stem, and the GonG/Shorter UD Glass stem for water. THIS IS THE FIRST 18mm ALL GLASS VAPOR PATH GONG STEM FOR A LOG VAPORIZER. This is a huge deal! It makes my Mobius Stereo Matrix very happy to be freed of its 18-14mm reducer handcuff. I bet there was someone somewhere who didn’t think an 18mm GonG stem was possible for a log vaporizer . Well, UD made it happened and it’s definitely my preferred way to administer my medication. I have been making 18mm all glass vapor path stems for quite a while now. Just wish there was a way to eliminate the silicone from the tube all together.

MacGyver doesn't count Alan. Good one! We've all made a silicone monster with an SSV/DBV wand, EQ tip or 18mm joint and some glass & silicone

And to note, the silicone in the new UD Glass stem is not required for vaporization. It is pictured but not necessary with the heat produced by most UDs or HIs, especially on a VV. Laters all!

i would love to hear the beta testers comments on these new glass accessories. does the WPB fit 14mm, 18mm, or is there one for both? this new glass looks sick! i've been waiting to see what you were going to be producing with that glass torch thing you got and im definitely very impressed. i was actually looking over at the HI thread thinking about getting a new stem or something to pair up with my UD but i guess my search is over

Hey Treecity wow thanks for all the info dude..!

So far I've just kind of bounced around and made everything 'by eye' so the measurements aren't really consistent but I'm sure average close to the numbers you posted. Standard production pieces will probably be close to what I sent you in regard to numbers.

I'll be able to make them to custom spec too for only a small up-charge, stuff like tip shape for the XL2 and the placement of grind zone for screen placement, also of course things like overall length, etc as well.

Regardless of whether they're 'off-the-shelf' or 'custom' stems they should ship out in 1-2 business days as usual.

I also have what I call a 'MicroStem' which has a similar performance profile to the old 1/4" stems. These are made with the same tubing the 'Simple Glass Stems (SGS)' are but with a grind on the ID for the screen, the silicone tip is for seal. They are basically for those who want an incredibly small hit and a hard draw (restricted airflow). Unloaded (of herb not the screen) it can be used as the tube of a SGS or for the 'SuperStem'.

The 'SuperStem' is just a 'WaterPipeBowl (WPB)' that's stuck on a SGS tube but works awesomely enough that it'll be listed as it's own product option.

and lastly here's a shot of the whole glass stem family, with a Twig for size comparison. Seems like most people don't realize just how big the XL and especially XL2 stems are without seeing them in person so maybe this will help. An SGS will actually fit inside the ID of the XL2 cork and all!

Very nice updates on the glass stems! I occasionally hang with friends to smoke some herb in a social setting. Of course, We've recently switched to vaporizing because it seems like the best method. I was worried that the current stems might lead to repeated loading and unloading during these meet-ups. It's not a huge problem though. I think the XL and XL2 are perfect for nights like these. I can't wait to purchase one. Hopefully, there will be a fancy one available. =)

Glad you guys like the new stems I think they're pretty awesome if I do say so myself.. The WPB fits 18mm joints but not 14mm ones as it's too large to fit even with more grinding. People who need a 14mm can use a reducer with the 18mm or just use the non-GonG WPB version as the silicone makes a great seal.

Hey BBBill these work great for stuff like that since the bowls will hold so much more, with stirring in between hits you can really stretch a bowl out with these as well. Fancy ones might well be on the menu as well given some time.

no, my ehle has 14 mm, and it was said somewhere here that the new GonG stem only fits 18 mm. so I would need one to reduce the 18mm of the GonG stem to fit my 14 mm, or instead I could also choose the non-GonG and skip the reducer.
and guess I missed something the last 3 days(party with night no sleep, a long night sleep and festival), what's FC-resistance?

HES - Dave beat me to it, but only 18mm for the UD. The HI turbo tube is 14mm. But an 18-14mm reducer can easily be used on the UD stem if you only have 14mm joints. I have a couple LW downstems that are only 14mm.

BBB - I called it the Party Bowl when I first saw it. The new UD stems will hold almost twice as much as any another stem on the market. As Dave alluded to above with the older glass stem stuck inside of the new stem, you almost have to see it to believe how much it holds. The Maximum Volume measurements above are pretty reveling also.

OTA - I will go above and beyond for those I call "friend" in this world. That's not a word I use lightly

The shorter glass and GonG stems are about 4.0 - 4.5cm in length. However, as Dave has said, he can produce almost any length of stem (GonG or standard flat tip) within a day or two. Glass is just taking off at UD. Personalization, rapid turnaround, consistent and reliable production, and… colors (see below)? The same service and excellence that make it Underdog!

Exactly right about the "white stuff". It's ground glass to grip the screens. It is about 5mm in width, so it gives you plenty of room to move the screen to your desired height. It is placed about 15 – 20mm deep from the top of the stem. The dimensions listed above should give you a good idea about what screens will fit into the new stems.

I personally remove the silicone as much as possible as it always collects some wand/stem resin and other ABV goodies that can’t be reclaimed after they seep into the silicone pores (think of dirty whip tubing, you can never get it 100% clean, no matter how much ISO or method you use, it’s in the porous silicone). By removing the silicone upon load insertion and extraction, you can also conserve your silicone. Granted, this is a very, very small amount of silicone so its not that bit of a deal. It definitely provides a better seal for vaporizing, but with the heat of the Evil Twin and your Dogs, it actually isn’t necessary. You can easily "seal" the port as it touches the medication as many have pointed out before in other log stem designs. On the other side, you never have to remove the silicone if you desire. It does not interfere with loading or unloading your medication IMO.

I do like that the UD is playing a bit more with that torch now btw. Imo there isn't much that can be improved on the vape itself; it's the stems where it's at


Djonko; there was a post in the materials thread when it had just started that apparently revealed the existence of a FC-resistance, but Vtac deleted the post & the two replies to it (one of those was mine) before most people saw it. Apparently some (formal?) members don't like how FC is run and feel that there is some sort of favoritism/censorship going on and are in a silent protest, which basically means boycotting the website. I thought Treecityrnd was the member that made that initial deleted post, but I guess I'm either mistaking him for someone else or he must have come around.

so i've been planning on making a video with my UD for a while and finally got around to it today. its a bit tough to get things done with its so damn foggy all the time not sure how you do it Dave, especially when you're surrounded by all those pups.

but seriously, after a long day at work my UD is always well appreciated and one of the first things i go for when i get home. of course wanted to show off my new 12 arm bubbler that i picked up a few weeks ago. scored a new job with a slight pay increase and a good resume builder so i thought i'd treat myself girlfriend said i couldn't justify my purchase and saying theres no reason to own more than one glass piece but then i asked her how often she buys a purse/clutch/handbag/whatevertye'recalled. wound up winning that argument, one of the few

i knew there was a UD owner in here who has one too but couldn't remember who exactly. for $80 including the shipping i thought it was a steal and love it paired up with my pup. now that i've shaken off the Glass Acquisition Syndrome for now i still need to fight off this itch for a new Dog. hard to do when Dave keeps pumping out so many during each release.
