I tend to look at it more like suvivorman trying to make it the two or three day window prior to delivery without vaping. I spend that time laying traps so the USPS woman doesn't try to slip in a "pick it up" notice instead of delivering it.
Pungi sticks and deadfalls are usaually effective in those cases....
I'm serious about my vapes.

I'm trying to find the most affordable torch device that has the ability to blow hot air. Have spent a lot of time crusing the net trying to find something affordable but not really turning up anything.
The purpose of this, should be obvious, is for cart-filling. All I have are big-ass torches that make filling a bit more of a hassle than it should be.
Ideally I'd like to find something like a bernzomatic product that I'd be able to buy in-person at a retail store like Home Depot.
Anyone have a recommendation?

I use a full sized propane torch but turn it on low after lighting it so it's more of a blue lighter flame. I think home depot sells a 3-1 torch/hot air pen thing for cheap, but it's cheap. Look in to heat guns for heat sink, or perhaps a hair drier.

I like heat guns or hairdryers over torches and lighters because they are easier to manipulate directed heated air without overheating if your being careful and take your time

Forgive me for not reading the entire thread, but its very daunting so I started at page 200. After loads of research, the omicron was the device that seemed to have the most success and satisfied users. So I got my v2 monday after a few months of enjoying the ti nail, wanting the portability of strong medication.
I feel that I had a decent idea on the priming and hitting techniques from the vapor wiki before using it for the first time, so I loaded up .5 of blue dream wax with the filling tool. Upon assembly with a full 2.4 cartridge, I was ready to go. Primed it and saw vapor, so took a decent draw...tasted great but i didn't really feel anything so I tried a long hit, inhaling slowly. I exhaled a large cloud of vapor that almost made me want to cough as well as some mild lightheadedness, but alas no medicated feeling. So I continued to hit, and hit, while keeling as upright as possible and seeing vapor come out...feel the expansion in my lungs but still I am not getting properly medicated, probably close to 40 hits. I knew there was a learning curve but frustrated, I went for a dab of the same wax weighing .03 which immediately had me sufficiently medicated. I hoped tomorrow with out medicating at all prior I would have a better idea.
The next morning (or late nite) around 4am I wake up not of choice but because of my stomach problems which won't let me fall back asleep easily. Since I'd only loaded .5g before and it was blue dream, I wanted a heavier medication which prompted me to load the remainder of some OG wax i had (.3g). Hit after hit for an hour I don't feel much outside of a slight buzz. Now, I'm thinking the nail has given me high tolerance so for comparisons' sake I pack a bowl of ~20% THC flower...I can feel effects from one large rip and was sufficiently medicated after two. I was able to fall asleep finally so fastforward to later that day I had some thinner CO2 oil to try(that would have me flying off a .02 dab).
Since I put in .5 and .3 before, I put .2 in the fill tool-even though I'd weighed the cart which showed a .2 loss. The first 4 hits tasted great-just like the nail and had me feeling good...but not to the point where one dab would take me. I tried to take some long slow hits, which produced adequate clouds of vapor but the pleasant taste was gone as was any additional medicated feeling. FWIW, I noticed the blue light does not seem to have the auto-off, I tested it one time, suspecting a long count but once I got to thirty seconds it seemed futile.

I actually got it because a friend showed me you can vape a bowl with it, I prefer the lower setting, to avoid scorching the herb, but if you have one of these, you can load a standard bowl, and vape it with the hot air. Just watch how close you are getting, and pack it down good so it doesn't blow away...
I'll have to use it the next time I load a cart.

You are on the right path. Fill a full gram when using thick waxes. The .3 fill will get you nowhere. With the Co2 you should be able to use .5 because it is viscous. A 1.5ohm will no doubt give larger hits. Let us know if the 1.5's don't work out and we will see what is going on.

That heat gun looks nice Jam, love the bracket on it for self support on a table. I was leaning towards getting the Wagner Kushcabbage posted, but this one looks good as well.

Wow, I had no idea there were such cheap heat-guns out there. When I thought of heat-gun my mind went straight to those expensive ones VRIPTECH uses as a stand-alone vaporizer, but I guess those are only necessary if you're directly inhaling what comes out of it.
This would definitely be fine for cart-filling, but not so sure i'd want to inhale whats produced by a $25* heatgun, when you have to spend like $200-300 for the ones the vape-experts say is the only safe heatguns to vape with (steinel hg2510 esd heat gun, has a ceramic encapsulated heating element)
Of course, using it a just couple times a year with a bowl can't do too much harm

you want a butane soldering pen with a heatgun tip. I used to vape with one before realizing i was putting combusted butane in my vapor path.
the fourth tip on the right is for heat shrink tubing. the next one over (70.01.52) is the heat gun tip

I don't vape with the heat gun these days with so many superior vaping devices at my disposal... I am sure the air path was not very clean, it has a plastic nozzle... it was a fun novelty thing to do at the time though...

That was definitely what I was originally looking for, but beyond that specific Ultra-torch heat tip, I'm unable to find anything else searching for all the derivations of "heat gun tip" (heatgun tip, heat gun tip, heat tip, etc).you want a butane soldering pen with a heatgun tip. I have that same bernzomatic torch, from home depot, it does come with the hot air blower tip. I've used it some for heating carts to fill but I prefer just the straight flame.
Here is kinda a size comparison to a normal bic lighter.

A quick chime in..
I want to say from the first day I picked up a joint to today I've always hated the way bud tasted and smelled. Never yet have I hit ANYTHING and went 'yum'. It's all sh*t to me..
I'm also fairly new here. Did the same thing, did a lot of reading, got hyped up and went and bought a Omi v2. Every problem I had was already anticipated by reading the many hundreds of pages of thread. I think the Wiki is a more than reasonable condensation and any new person should be able to figure out what's what for the most part from that.
Playing with carts other than the SPECIFIC ones designed for the unit (2.4 for Omi, 5 for Persei) is something that DOES require more reading and research than a quick gander at the instructions (again printed for the standard carts). I did my reading and research.
I now use my Persei 80% of the time. I use it in a 3.7V config and am still driving my FIRST 1.5 ohm with it. She's starting to produce thinner and thinner clouds now with 3 fills for about 1.7 grams of Purple Kush turned into BHO by me. I figure that's a fair life for the cart since I'm heavy on the button, 10 seconds at times. I stop when it's hot to the touch.
My first 5 ohm is getting near the end I suspect too.. 2 grams of Bluebery BHO (again made by me) in now but she's still working just not the milky streams of just weeks before.
But these carts ARE meant to be disposable aren't they?
One of the things I noticed was that the Omi did take more time to get me to the same point that a few good blasts of oil on my pipe would get. However the coughing up a lung was the problem I wanted to avoid. So the omi just took more work. The P fixed that though, it's the power house no doubt.
The effects from smoking and vaping have been different for me as well. I have found that I get less of the stone and more of the high and I still find a little combustion before bed helps. I medicate mostly for stomach issues and have been more than thankful for the quick grab and go portability of these devices.. especially when it's the wee hours.
I have no regrets about the hundreds of hard earned dollars I've spent. And I like supporting innovations too.. And I have come to like and respect the community here, they're a warm, friendly and more than helpful bunch if you just just check your chip at the door..
Anyway.. I ramble when medicated. Apologies.

Howdy Tako0, welcome to the fun.
I fear we may have a tolerance issue, even after sorting anything else out. It's probably still possible but consider the numbers. If you have everything running right you'll get an average of 300 or so good hits from a one gram load, each one is 3 mg. So, that '.03 dab' is ten hits.
Now to the hits. First off, as DubC said above, anything after the first half gram hasn't fed yet. There's no useful mixing happening inside. The key is, of course, to get it to feed to the heater so it will vaporize. This means it's got to be in direct contact with the wick and it has to be thin enough to flow. Not just to flow out to the heater, but it has to flow down the tube to prevent bubbles from forming and killing the feed. If it is feeding uniformly, this is not happening.... ... but it sounds like this might be the problem??
The problem with fixing it is the cure might be worse than the affliction so to speak. The seals we can't overheat are pretty close to where the problem is (if there is a problem.....). The cure comes before, back at loading, where you want to be sure the tube is fairly hot down to the mid point before melting from the funnel. The idea being to keep barely melted material from hitting cold metal and 'clotting' on the spot. I've had some success with 'melting down' but it's dicey and I don't really recommend it. At this point there should be nothing 'stuck to the walls', that's an issue for the end of life when all that's left is clinging to the wall (the bulk having drained away). Rather than trying to melt it down I'd try putting it in a warm place for a few hours. There's a large bulk of oil that all has to come to temperature before the first will flow, this is not easy to do with fire on the outside without having heat get down the tube half an inch or so to cook the seals out instead. Better, I think, to set aside for now and try again?
1.5 Ohm carts will heat faster and more. But it's not a good time to be learning to run the machine. I'd suggest another 2.4 Ohm cart until you're comfortable and can make it dance at your whim. 1.5s can get away from you and make a mess. In the end, they may be the call, but let's get the other stuff in order first? Get it delivering a few mg of oil every hit and see where it takes us?
If you're needing an answer to that what makes the other fellow tick thing, somebody with a lot more understanding is going to have to clue us both in......might be fun to know though?

Just feel for you that you don't enjoy the smell or taste. I've thought the smell and taste were part of the great Cosmic Designer in the sky's plan to draw us toward it. To me one of vast benefits vaping has over smoking is the green taste continues past the first draw.
And, as Oliver Stone recently said on Gavin Newsom's show, "California Has The Best Weed In The World", so it's possible we are getting more flavorful varieties here(thank you O' Great Cosmic Designer in the sky.)
