Also, separate post because I don't want to ruin the vibes of my last one, but have you guys seen this yet?

Interesting. Looks to me like it only contacts/heats a small square in the center of the bowl? It looks to me like the mesh isn't welded down, which I think will be the start of non stop heating problems.

And if it takes 45 seconds to fill the tiny volume of the bowl with vapor, "big clouds" aren't happening anytime soon here.....

Someone for sure should try it and report back.....who's turn is it?

Not me. How can they get away with these knock off's? I thought they could get in trouble for copying Magic Flight's design. Man it's true.....it seems that no one nowadays has any original thought whatsoever. This is a good example.

As I understand it, it's not easy to defend your patient rights (and I'm not 100% sure if there is one and what it might cover). You and I can make our own (not for sale) no matter. Those sold have to violate one of the claims on the patient to start the process. As I understand it this is where it gets tight, is it worth the money to go after the guys that violate?

Not to mention, Obama just changed US patient law to favor rip offs and not the idea originators more than before.

Yes, this appears to be a poor performing copy, but it could also be an improvement (very slight chance IMO) and that's the part I think we should check into. Say, for instance, he's using a different screen material???

One guy checking it out should be enough..... Some other guy it seems.

The job remains open.

Yeah, I don't have the money or the resources for this either... There's two headshops I like going to, one is smaller and in downtown, the other is a few miles' drive out of town. The in-town one used to carry the LB and also Da Kube, but I went by last week and they didn't have either of them, instead they had a weird black one that kinda looked like a cheap LB... didn't give it more than a glance though. The bigger out of town place only carries the LB, the girl laughed when I mentioned the other place carrying the DK. Waaay too many knockoffs! And none of them are doing it as good as MF!

You said "patient," but I think you meant "patent." ;)

I didn't know it was so hard to defend a patent. What law did Obama pass that favors rip off's?

I wouldn't consider a 45 second warm-up time (with a battery, no less!) to be much of an improvement ;) I think MF already took care of the screen issue, it was probably very high on their list before they released it.

Lol. Thats a horrible knock off. The huge phillips screw just looks horrible. Typical batteries not included deal huh? props to MFLB, the best sign your successful is when they keep trying to copy you.

I use about a 3/4 of a trench full and vape very lightly, discarding very soon after 2-3 pulls of the very finest herb. Taste is my first priority.

I like the description. Though... 2-3 pulls? Man, I thought I was picky with taste. I used to dump as I lost that flavor of the strain, but it didn't take long to realize I was wasting more than w/ combustion. I started taking it further, just vaping it longer. But, then using some different glass pieces/combinations and dropping my PA down to 40-45%, I could hang onto the flavor longer. However, then I got my 60x-100x porta-scope (they're like $6 on Amazon) and saw how much is really going to waste, when I wanted the trench to be done.

I don't like vaping until the popcorn taste... but w/ the scope I can gauge it and know my ABV is going to have some potency and honestly, controlling the level of the PA (if you have one)... can make all the difference in the world.

Magic-Flight has applied for a patent but it's still pending.

I admire your optimism but there is no chance that this thing improves on the MFLB in any way.

I've had my Magic Flight for 3 years not and it still remains my favorate protable vaporizor within it's price range. My Magic Flight has a lifetime warrenty that I've only had to use once, but the reassurence is nice to have that if anything does happen I'm covered. My most liked features of the Magic Flight unit heats up quick, and the fact that it comes with 2 batteries so I can always have once charged and ready to switch. It's a simple unit but the simplicity is what makes it a more reliable unit.

Trust me when I say that for $15 you can actually make it much better. Powerex 2700's on Amazon! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FOV92E/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

They seem to have gone up a dollar or two since I had purchased them, but I can't believe I held off for so long. They charge up fine with the MF charger, and there's 4 of them with the carrying case! The only downside I see to these is that they're high self discharge batteries, meaning they don't retain their power as long as the stock batteries when they're just sitting on a shelf, but I don't keep my batteries on the shelf anyways ;)

I was pretty much going to say the same thing.

TBH even if there were a patent (which I doubt) its an expensive process to go through.

Besides we all know the MF is the best.

I posted a link ages ago to a rip off they were selling on amazon.

EDIT: just looked at the picture for the one we are talking about.. to me it looks cheap and nasty compared to the MF

Definatley good batteries.

A decent smart charger is a must too because putting batteries through a refresh cycle really does restore them as they hold less and less charge over time. (You probably already know that but someone else reading this might not).

You do notice I'm not rushing out to buy one???

Thanks, I like being objective....as long as it's not my money.....

We should start "Consumer Reports" for vapes. Some low cost subscription thing to build a fund to buy the next vape for one of the members who then writes a report?

Second opinions are always valuable to have, and I just so happen to be good at giving second opinions... what a coincidence! ;)

do you guys notice certain strains give off more vapors than others?

I have noticed that. Don't know why it happens, though.

I've seen it too, and they smell different to me too as I recall. The ones that had more vapor tended to have more pronounced smell as well. At least that's what I recall thinking the last time I noticed the new strain seemed to make a lot of vapor. They all have about the same level of THC.

Then again PG throws out some heavy clouds sometimes and there's mostly pure THC and similar stuff there, save that added citrus oil...... That rules out contamination?

probably just the quality of the weed TBH

Some strains are just better than others
I'm getting top shelf from my clinic, I've posted pics here and on the Lounge before of what I get, so I'm not sure if it's the quality... it's all A+ stuff, but I've noticed that the batch of Strawberry Cough I got doesn't produce vapors like the Master Kush I vaped last night.

Yup, still with you, guys. As I said above, the bud I've been using is all top shelf high THC stuff, except for some high CBD from time to time.

It all has the proper effect, of course, but there does seem to be other differences in the vapor from time to time. Or make that 'strain to strain'.

MMJ patient, you know I'm vaping The Bomb-ass Shit. Right now, have like 6 different top shelfs (though... small quantities). Have an 1/8th of Romulan and 1/8th of Purple Kush (mind-blowing, perfect 50/50 mix of amber and clear crystals). Grams of Afgoo and Lavender Kush... other odds and ends, probably about another 1/8th.

And yes, there is definitely a difference between strains, in regards to vapor density, smoothness, taste and even vaping temps and number of pulls you can get off a trench.
