For those who doubt there is aluminum dust, here is a close-up picture I took of the top of my Volcano Hybrid. There are a few dog hairs in the picture for scale (unintentional!). You can clearly see aluminum dust buildup surrounding the heating ring.

I didn’t do a chemical test on the dust, but unless someone dumped glitter on my Hybrid when I wasn’t looking, I think it’s safe to say it’s aluminum from the heating ring.

it's a shame to see this company sink doing shady things a little more each month for 1 year. Unfortunately it's getting worse and worse ...
I think i will never buy again

STORZ-BICKEL NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS NOW! HOW CAN THEY ALLOW CONSUMERS TO CONTINUE USING THE HYBRID????

That's just fucked! Definitely not using mine anymore, no way I wanna inhale that!

Sorry for cursing but this is just completely nuts! I don't know how anyone can say this is alright to use. Im glad some stores have stopped selling this until further notice. If you value your health dont use the hybrid until storz-bickel makes a public statement, please be safe everyone.

their way of managing communication is catastrophic. So hypocritical to edit user manual to blame the user. It’s condescending on their part, highlighting their new business strategy. Let’s see what they’ll come up with to handle this situation.

It's simple what storz bickel needs to do.

1) tell the public to stop using the hybrid until further notice.
2) tell stores to stop selling the hybrid until further notice.
3) make a statement on the forums like fuck combustion and vape life and be transparent not vague.
4) let the public know they are working on a redesign of chamber.
5) give the option for refunds.
6) get new chambers to customers asap, and throw some store credit for the hassle.

do you have any tests confirming harmfulness? will you just repeat unverified information?

Your kidding right? I dont need any test to know this is not safe. Would you eat a plate of food with metal dust in it or purposely eat melting plastic? It is the same thing! If nothing was wrong storz-bickel would have said something by now, it's all over the net. There is something wrong and they know it. Vape Stores began to pull it from shelves, troy from 420vapezone even did a you tube video with concerns about this situation. I value my health, I hope you do too. If you want to continue using the hybrid go ahead. I am waiting for storz-bicke to make a public statement, until then I will not use the hybrid, and I would advise everyone to do the same until more information is out about this.

It feels like just yesterday we were arguing about whether the plastic clips fatiguing were user error, and now we're here.

FWIW and YMMV I have had the Hybrid since launch and run 10+ capsules a day. I have no melting/scorching of my housing (bags only no whip) and no dust. A cotton swap ran around the contact ring came back light grey with oxide. I did not have noticeable dust, large scratches, or dark grey swabs after cleaning.

Is it dangerous? There is research linking aluminum oxide and pulmonary issues in lab trials and in the evaluation of workers using aluminum-based abrasives industrially. These are quantities much larger than what we would be seeing enter our vapor path. That being said, exposure is cumulative, and it takes time and effort for the body to remove these oxides and it can cause fibrous regrowth including cancer. The research seemed to suggest the removal of only 9% of the oxide each month. The oxides also are shown to migrate to other tissues from the lungs.

The device works by having contact between the aluminum rings but I would say don't make it tight. I get plenty of conduction for extraction with a light twist. Is it user error, is it a bad design? I'm not blaming anyone or demonizing S&B, although I am disappointed in their less than premium response to a premium item. It may be fair to say the Hybrid convection rings work safely unless a bit roughed up, and there are issues with the housing material between batches.

no, I'm asking for real ? .......Plenty users have been poisoning aluminum for so many years?

And people have been jumping off bridges too, I'm not gonna do it.

You want to keep using the hybrid be my guest. Until storz-bickel makes a public statement about this situation I will not use my hybrid, I need my lungs.

... Boom Shiva !
The plenty was out in the market for many years , what was S&B doing all this while that product was out there.

Nobody made noise with the same issue on the plenty ?

They should have ideally seen this a red flag and start working redesign before releasing something like the volcano hybrid ?

With S&B being pretty much silent on proactive measures, they are going to be facing an avalanche of lawsuits.

I don't believe this would have been the issue in the past. The lack of proper recall and notice has been a manifestation of Canopy buying out the company, and preserving their profit margins over our health.

The issues with the Plenty and Volcano Hybrid need to have immediate attention. I imagine there's going to be a lot of people that have been using the Plenty for years, and years that are only now realizing their health issues could be related to a product they once believed to be safe.

Time will tell. Do yourself a favour and shelf these, until there's proof they are safe. Return any that you can.

my opinion: this dust is harmless and the plastic melts only in a faulty series

I'm really hoping that's the case dude, but it's still hard to enjoy herb whilst wondering whether you are aggressively filling your lungs with an invisible storm of metallic debris.
Doesn't enhance the experience much, plus if I ever need an MRI, I don't want my chest to burst open under the car lifting strength magnets. :D

Classic for me!

Arizer EQ allegedly has a dirty air path. However, those Reddit posts were from a few years ago. Haven’t heard much since then but I don’t know if it’s fixed.
