Herb Grinders

Watch the videos for this grinder. The grind looks very nice - even & very fine. As the herb appears super moist, I would like to see what a dryer grind looks like. To me, this grinder looks like it has potential, but if I were ever to buy another grinder (love my BCG!), it would be for a very coarse grind like the Lift grinder.

I posted about this grinder just above and had a chance to talk to manufacturer. Was hoping they would join FC and talk about their product some more. I'm hoping someone will take the plunge...I have a 15% promo code that they gave me in case anyone wanted to try it.

@flammy, I'm still searching for a very coarse grind. I'm still hoping Grinders for Life will come out with one. I've been meaning to message them - will finally have the time to do so next week.

The coarse out of the Lift is rather coarse. Have you considered that?

Got my SLX V2.5 today and I must say I am underwhelmed. It is quite rough in its operation, nowhere near as smooth as my old SpaceCase to operate while empty (my free Trees grinder feels smoother to operate), just feels rough to spin. I also noticed a white wear mark on the surfaces where the grinding plates rub,

I swabbed the white are with a qtip,

Dry swab,

I like the purple color on my grinder, not in with my herb, makes me think the V2.5 might be a knock-off, I have sent the seller a message to find out what is going on.:suspicious:

You should message the manufacturer directly. I don't think they make a version V2.5

I've tried a few grinders over the years but I keep coming back to my old favorite. It's hard to justify the cost of a new grinder when my history shows I'll just end up back here again.

But I like simplicity and the BCG has caught my eye recently. :)

I got me a "classic" weed grinder. Made out of stainless steel in china with a package from Taiwan, a teflon ring from Japan and a price from Germany.
I got this size model iirc, just because it was what they had in the shop. I think I would rather take a larger model. The medium one just costs a little more:

It is very heavy for its size. Half of the lower part is solid steel.
The edges are a bit sharp and the teeth cut well. This model is a bit small and awkward in my hand also because it is the first 2-piece model I have. But they also have 4-piecers.
I love that i can scrape off what builds up inside and don't have to worry about aluminium teeth wearing down and getting vaporised or burnt. Also I see me rather clearing this SSteel one with alcohol that the aluminium one. (Noting that are all a bit exaggerated fears in reason to have a reason to buy a new grinder:D)

The pouch has a zip and keeps the grinder well closed for travels. This is a great feature.
Lifetime warranty, whatever that means.

I like it also for its price and simplicity. Of course I could imagine some refinements, as having a compartment in that heavy base or something, but then it would get more expensive.
:peace:

I’ve got a zeus bolt 2. it’s worth 50$ in canadian dollars. I’m not crazy about it. I guess it’s alright. could be way better though. could probably be way worse also. there are some cheap grinders out there.

I have had my purple SLX v2.5 for 3 weeks, I started a ticket with SLX a couple of days after for the above-mentioned color shifting and...crickets.
Got back in touch with their Aussie retailer who said open another ticket, sometimes SLX just send a replacement without any consultation, so I did this again 2 weeks ago and still, I hear nothing and have received nothing...sorry for bashing but Ozbongs and SLX can get FUCKED, piss poor service for a piece of shit grinder.:cuss:
I think I will get Consumer Affairs onto Ozbongs if they fail to help me out, I will give them another week to make it a month that I have had this purple paperweight.:disgust:

If that is truly anodize then it was left in the bath too long. That means the sluff is aluminum oxide. If it is paint, then there is a whole different issue.

Interesting thing though. I bought a cheap $5 grinder on eBay years ago and I still use it. It is what most would consider a cheap ass unit about 1.5" in diameter. I have worn the nickle plating off the outside where copper is starting to show through prominently after literally grinding up pounds of buds. I don't even know the material, probably nickle plated brass. However, there is an additional feature I found odd but for some reason it works. The inside is coated. I want to say it has a selective silver coating... selective meaning only in the grind area. This coating hasn't chipped or worn at all. It is perfectly capable of being washed with serious degreasers and solvents. And herb doesn't stick to it. I have not seen this type of coating on any these premium units in this discussion although I am certain I am just not noticing it. Does this ring familiar in the halls of memories to anyone?

Just popping in to see what the top 3 absolute BEST grinders are out there at the moment? I used to be all about that Kannastor, and only prefer 3 piece grinders. It's been a minute and the industry moves so damn fast i'd love to hear what's crushing the competition! Thanks fam!

Glad you asked this at this time as im planning a black Friday purchase of a high end grinder myself ...

I was thinking the stainless steel ripper but the threading was a turn off ... now thinking a 4 piece black Lift ...

Haven't heard of the Ripper but i've been out of the game for nearly a couple of years. I loved the v2 kannastor 3 piece with 2 different grind blades to choose from.

I've had the Lift and was disappointed, as were some others.

Thanks @SquirrelMaster ....now youre gonna get me looking at the Ripper again

I had read that with the HR, you need to turn only clockwise, at least to start, otherwise the bottom opens with the quarter-turn on the first counter-clockwise grind-turn.... It’s the immediate start that is always the hardest turning that cannot be done counter-clockwise ... i got the impression that it was diificult to turn especially with a full load

I’m also looking to buy a high end grinder on black friday. I’m disappointed in my zeus bolt 2 grinder. I’m disappointed in it’s size and I’m not even sure what it’s made out of but a lot of my weed leaves sticky, gummy residue and it kind of affects how easy it is to use.. it’s actually my first grinder ever so I’m actually not sure how to clean it but I’m assuming it’s time to clean it after a couple of months of almost everyday use.

Team NO SLEEP!
I'm in the minority, but I do NOT favor the Brilliant Cut Grinder... IMO not worth the top of market price tag they seek, nor the 3+ week wait.

Tons of hype, and with respect it is a fair grinder, but it is not for me.
I fucking can't stand that big post in the collection chamber. When grinding anything more than half a lid, and I like to do full lids, the post scatters material when I dump into my Jyarz. The Zam eliminates the post with an innovative magnet design.

Additionally, the threadless design is intriguing, but their design misses the mark. If not using threads, there should be some sort of lip so that the halves embed in one another- so not to let material through the cracks. Threaded designs do not have this issue.

Your findings may differ, you really never know till you try... TONS of BCG reviews on here are full of so much hype, thought you might appreciate a differing opinion.

So i obviously am way on the fence on this choice ... i started wanting Stainless Steel and when Dynavap partnered up with Herb Ripper i had them in my sights.

But i haven't seen much in the way postings keeping me interested and started looking at Lift as i saw a recent article which addressed my concerns about annodizing real well which was my primary reason for looking to go stainless. It also spoke to the BCG/unthreaded vs threaded designs both having their pros and cons ... i thought it was a well written article and included it for reference below.

I now see and realize that both the HR and Lift are both threaded designs but im leaning towards the Lift as i really think its well constructed and seems like a comfort to use.

I have the Kannastor V2 and it worked but was just a PITA to use as a DD. The threading gummed up quickly and the teeth attracted a large amount of resin which led to sticky action when grinding.

I don't have a top 3 but my top 2 would easily be BCG and Lift with the Lift edging out the BCG slightly. My Lift is my DD while the BCG is purely for travel now. I am also curious to hear what issues you found on the Lift.

I'll pop in and tell you about my experience. I have been using an SCS 3 piece for years without any problems. I got interested in the ripper ss large model so I bought one. I find the ripper very hard to start the grinding process, so it sits idle while I use the old SCS that shreds my herb like butter. All the luck to you in your search. Grinders are abundant and appeal to as many folks as there are grinders.
