Hello all. Long time lurker first time poster.

I just received my LSV today along with a Saturn vapor tamer that I won. The LSV looks great...I'm really looking forward to testing it out tonight. I do have a question about the SVT though...It obviously requires inserting a screen to use with the LSV...how would I go about removing that screen when needed? Most things you can just poke through from the other end...but that doesn't seem all too easy with the SVT.

You can use the pick that came with the LSV to pluck it out.
Some people leave it in all the time, and wash the VT with screen in.
I remove it with a "pluck" of the pick.

I managed to get the screen in position without too much trouble. I guess if it ever got stuck and I needed to push it out I could get some of those extra long craft pipe cleaners.

Another question I have come up with is has anyone found a good off the shelf storage case or cooler to transport the vapor tamers in? I'd like to get mine all nice and frosty and then take it with me to a friends house and still have it (mostly)frosty and ready to go.

While I'm at it...one more question that I've seen several people ask in a similar manner but not really cover exactly what I was thinking. Would it be possible to put a SSV heater cover on the LSV? I know the SSV is bent at the end and whatnot...I'm not really worried about that. What I'm wondering is with the aluminum shield removed...could you put the SSV cover on in place of the stock LSV one. Do the dimensions of the heating element and the metal stud it comes out of match the SSV? What I would like to do...since I can't really afford a SSV...is have a stand made (I have a friend with a CNC machine) to hold the LSV in a mostly upright position and then use a SSV heater cover and whip to add an additional way to use my LSV. Hopefully that all makes sense to someone.

It makes sense in an slightly over the top way!
Most people ask the same question ... only inverted. It is the SSV owners that want to use a transfer wand and an LSV HC on the SSV.
Get a "Table edge Vise"
Get the SSV "Spherical Wand" and a 3 foot whip....
leave the LSV HC intact, and remove ONLY the top screw.
Place the LSV Lengthwise into a vise, that is clamped securely.
Done...
use the Spherical wand/whip to approach the table edge vise "surrogate SSV", and ..
have fun!

@Truefreak, cool idea with the LSV. I'm one of the ones that was going to try turning my DBV into an LSV but I went off on a tangent. I used a beer coozie with a little sewing to make a Saturn coozie: coozy at my VT thread

Something like that and a little lunchbox sized cooler should work for transport, at least so it wouldn't be long (1/2 hour probably) in the freezer till ready!

That's a decent idea...but not exactly what I want. Also, the HC on the LSV is a male spherical piece...and so is the spherical wand...not sure they would mate up properly. I am hoping to be able to use the standard (non ground) SSV HC and wand. The have a full kit with the HC, wand, tubing, and mouthpiece on the 7th Floor website for $35. Seems like a great price if the HC fits.

Thank you Vitolo. With that piece of info it now seems that for $35 and one user supplied stand, you can turn a LSV into a functional SSV...minus the aromatherapy ability. That is very fun news.

Ok...apparently it doesn't take long for me to come up with questions. I have two in the queue for now.

1) What level of grind works best for LSV (with standard transfer wand)? My normal grinder is a 4 piece chromium crusher (about 1.5 years old) that seems to have a nice grind for typical glass pipes etc.

2) Does anyone know of something that would work well as a "cap" for a loaded transfer wand? I often don't quite finish my loads the night that I pack them and with the transfer wand laying down it's hard not to spill a bit when putting things away for the evening.

Any grind does work with the LSV, but I prefer, "tightly ground medium".

Go to ACE hardeware... they sell corks for 20 in every size imaginable

1) Your crusher and any standard grinder should be fine I think.

2) A cap would be cool.. the only thing I could think of is the "cleaning stoppers" sold on ALT, but I'm pretty sure that would squish all your bud. I just lean my wand/bowl against something upright and it's usually a-ok.

If you use your lsv with a water pipe often, don't clean your wpa or downstem, give it a month and see what you are rewarded with :D

Well after 10 days of use I sadly have to report that my LSV is having issues...of the cracking glass kind. I have emailed support and hopefully they can correct this situation swiftly under warranty.

Both my standard transfer wand and my heater cover have developed cracks. The transfer only has a small crack...but given it's position I expect it to grow pretty rapidly. The heater cover however has a crack big enough to render my LSV out of commission for now. I am attaching the pics I took below...with the cracks circled in red.

So as not to be completely negative today. Here is a post about my use of Ikea products to enhance my LSV use. I have a black "Dave" table that I use for my medicating station. It is a small portable table and as such has a handle in the back. This is just the right size to fit the LSV through and works wonderfully as a stand. I also have a "Groggy" stainless steel tray to hold all my various tools and implements. Lastly I have a "Jansjo" table lamp that not only lights up everything well...it also makes sure the LSV doesn't slip back through the hole in the table. Here is a pic of my setup. You'll have to forgive the various combustion related items...I'm still only a part time vaporist.

For those that care, the items in the tray are:
Large 4pc Chromium Crusher that I've had for a couple years.
Heavy ash tray with skull shaped snuffer, cork knocker, and a glass poker.
Locally blown glass sherlock pipe. Much heavier than it looks.
A pair of "mustache" scissors.
A Clipper lighter.
A small purple glass "MMJar" for storage.
A steel guitar pick that I put a bit of a curve to and use as a scoop for my grinder.
A bit of "Bee Lasso" hemp wick.
And of course the standard 7th floor glass marble pick.

Your setup looks great.. what a nice medicating area/table.
The LSV standing makes me very nervous however... I would always lay it down... mak a nice nest for it with pot6holders etc. I fear it can lean and knock against the wall.. in sharp "taps' that will make the cracking situation you showed worsen. The LSV is also very subject to falling, and suffering.
Thanks for sharing the great area!
You are well stocked, and ready to medicate!

It's actually a lot more stable than it looks...and has never rocked or tiped at all. The weight of the cord hanging below keeps it pretty well in place. I also don't normally leave the wand in it while sitting on the table...that was just for the pic. I tend to be very careful with things I use and own as I don't have the money to replace them if they break. For example I still have my fully working original Nintendo that my mom bought my for xmas almost 25 years ago...the original controllers and everything...I take it out every few months to play some Tetris.

Well I am hoping that your crack still allows function, while you contact 7th Floor about this.
The thought of an "out of service" LSV makes my mind unsettled! :uhoh:

I'm concerned that the heating/cooling of the unit will cause that crack to travel further and eventually cause either a piece to break off or worse for the whole thing to shatter. The thought of little bits of 300ish degree glass falling on me is enough to make me not want to use it in it's current condition.

Just got an email from Chris @ 7th floor. They will be sending me replacements. :) Now I just have to wait for them to get here. :(

Still waiting for replacements...hoping they get here tomorrow in time for turkey day...fingers crossed.

In the meantime...I want to try and use the LSV in it's 3rd mode as a herb iron type thing (I'd vape with my MFLB but I have no working batteries at the moment) and I'm wondering A) how high should I set the dial (I usually set it to about 1:30 for wand use) and B) am I supposed to touch it to the herb or hold it a bit above?

Edit: Just after I posted this I got my tracking number from 7th floor. Guess it wont be here tomorrow :(

Hey mob, Im interested but the coupon dont works in the lifesabervaporizer.com web page. I want to purchase since some time the LSV in 220v but I cant find one from resellers. If this coupon work I can buy the LSV 220v direct from the seller!

Edit: All is ok now, you need to log in before use the discount code. I wrote a mail corroborating that if they have 220v units in stock. If they say yes, finally I will be able to get the LSV as my first vape after an extensive research. However, I dont know what WPA choose. I dont have any glass piece or bong. I asked in this thread the same some time ago but I dont know. I can choose the 14 or 18 mm in long or short version. What size I need to choose? in the near future I will buy a small bong. Thanks for the information
