Can someone give me a hint about drawing without scorching the weed?

I have only had my MI a few days and I keep scorching my medicine which makes it taste like garbage.

No combustion, but some black marks on the weed.

TIA

Hold button less, don't preheat at all, hold it and draw slow and steady while speeding up as the heater temp rises, let go after only 5 seconds give or take, and keep drawing faster to clear the hit. Can rotate stem in between hits, and/or stir as needed. Ofcourse pack and draw are big factors, but trigger useage is best way to control and avoid overcooked spots (just draw on its own can too, but trickier to master)

New camera means new pictures. Forgive my amature attempt to look "artsy" but I just wanted to snap (quite) a few pics to test it out.

Sorry if I went overboard, I just love pics!!

Love me milaana

Showoff! jk nice shots! My walnut Mi is lacking the nut under the copper tab which causes a lot of strain against the bottom tab inside the device. Must search through the drawer of many things and locate a suitable remedy. That's a beautiful Mi you've got there @AJS. Didja ever finish Odd Thomas?????
Happy New Year, yins!

I think @AJS did substitute the washers for a nut, right? (I remember good ol' @Bravesst showing it first) So it's normal not to have one - or are the washers lacking too? (should be 3 of them IIRC)

Best greetings to mi laanas :)

Thanks a ton man! I'm guilty of showing off all my vapes, very grateful for them. Took soooo many pics and vids of my OG unit, oh my lol.
And yes I finished Odd Thomas the 1st one and 2nd and am now on Brother Odd, the 3rd book. Hmu if you wanna discuss dean koontz! Lol

@vapen00b is right I added that myself with the recommendation from @Bravesst. Home Depot for a couple bucks. Best investment, makes battery changing so damn easy. Removes strain and adds height for glass clearance. Always flat. Really awesome solution. Hated the stock washer set up.

Holiday greetings all.... Sorry for the long and conspicuous absence. I will be spending the next few days catching up on correspondence.

I have been hard at work pushing the 2017 batch of Milaana wood through the wood shop in order to get special thanks to @cannabis.pro for cutting and polishing the glass as it was crucial in getting production back underway. The www store is now open again and to thank FC for their continued patience and support please use the code: xmasfc for a 10% discount now through Jan 14th.

Take a look at our Twitter and Instagram for some festive Milaana shots.

Anybody know what is the MI-510? Is it a controlled Milaana or something external?

I know this will sound like sacrilege, but I have had my Mi for a week and I am not impressed.

Have you guys (and gals) who love this vape ever thought of making a Best of thread in case people do not want to wade through 300 pages to find out what is so special about this vape and how to use it properly?

If you want to blame me instead of the vape, I am doing the best I can with the information I have.

Please don't attack, I am entitled to my opinion.

I would love to change my opinion, but it does not seem likely, for now.

@sickmanfraud folks are pretty good at helping people get through the learning curve once they know what the problem is. It's on my list to do some vids on the subject. The instruction manual does an ok job of explaining the nature of a manual, unregulated device... basically it starts hot with a fresh battery and cools as the battery drains. This means it is always hotter than you need so you have to "Milaana" or modulate the button to control the temperature. The trick is to draw slow and let the heat build in the load and then draw faster once you sense the vapor. If you draw fast with a fresh battery and course material you will get a throat full of hot air. It is best to run fine ground material to help create some back pressure to help slow your draw. Having a screen that is somewhat used and thereby a bit clogged also helps. Hope this helps... if not post your specific issue here and I am sure the guys here will give better advice than me.

Thanks for the reply.

My problem is that there are scorch marks on my material even though the material is not touching the bottom screen. This gives the material a bad taste after the first or second draw while my material is still quite green (minus the black marks).

I know that I do not want to combust, and that may make me more overly cautious, but I am not getting even AVB and I get horrible taste after the first couple-few hits.

Don't try to blame the weed, it works great in my other vapes.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can make this lovely piece of wood into something useful. Kinda need Geppetto.

I'm not sure why anyone would attack you - we are all in this together and help is only ever a post away!

Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs here, but . . .

Are you pre-heating? If so, negate this step and try drawing as soon as the button is depressed.

- Then let off the gas & modulate as soon as you feel the vapor in your throat.

You can also try drawing slightly quicker to introduce more cool air and help to minimize the scorch potential.

Let us know how you go :)

Oh, and I almost forgot . . . .

@sickmanfraud This is a unregulated device. You supply the "brains" You control all the variable. Newness of battery,Pack, grind, speed of inhale and most important of all an awareness of the heat of the load and automatically transferring that into a pulse (hit or release) of the button. You must ride the wave. You are surfing the breakdown of the meds. You must become a master through repetition. Aloha.

I know that it can be hard to go through all the pages of this post, but if you really want to know how to use your Milaana I will recommend you not only to do that but also watch as many videos as you can. That's exactly what I did and even then I struggled a bit the first couple days.

This isn't an "easy" device to use, there is no easy 2+2 = 4. This unit is unregulated and you have to adapt to it to have the best vape experience ever! But the good part is that when you are there, Milaana is without a doubt the best portable I had the plasure to use :)

Thanks for the replies.

I have been leaving the screen just inside the stem. Would moving the screen further into the stem (away from the heat) make any positive difference?

@TeeJay1952 I like the idea of practicing, but I do not like to waste medicine or suck on burnt tasting medicine.

With the hints I am getting and some practice I am hopeful I can grow to like this vape.
