The unit seems to leak out the top when filling up bags, I've placed an o-ring on the nipple to make a better seal when filling bags, one of the bags was put together incorrectly so it leaks when filling worse then the other, I think its thru the zip tie.
I do hate how hard it is to close the cover, it almost seems like to have to force is shut no matter how well you place the bowl in, or what angle,
one of my mouthpieces doesn't close completely it seems like its stuck open when I take it off the nipple, is there a way to fix that? or is it a spring that is broken? Mine is not the same as the one in the pics I have seen, mine has a black button and is completely black with no white.
NoSmoke, I think you have a first generation ION, if you have a all black mouthpiece kind of shaped like a t, I need to get you a new lid and new mouthpieces. Please contact me via my email and include your serial number and a pic of your current mouthpiece please. There were only about 50 of the style I think you have, produced. ( kind of makes it a collectors item)
Here are some general troubleshooting tips as well:
THE ZEPHYR ION VAPORIZER
Troubleshooting Guide
First Steps
1. Check first that your Ion is plugged in and turned on.
2. There will be a red screen and red light when your Ion is plugged in and off.
3. If your Ion is plugged in and the lights are not on, make sure the outlet is working by testing with another appliance i.e. cell phone charger.
Ion will not heat up
* Set your Ion to lowest temperature, which is 100 degrees Fahrenheit, then switch from Fahrenheit to Celsius then switch back to Fahrenheit. This process will reset the electronics for the heating element.
* To switch between F and C press both temperature control buttons at the same time.
Pump will not run.
* Unplug Ion and plug back in.
Pump runs but will not fill bag
* Confirm that the basket and the basket cover washer (the silicon washer that fits into the lid/basket cover) are in place and seated correctly.
* Confirm bag valve system is firmly seated on the nozzle base.
* Confirm bag is not obstructing airflow into the valve.
Basket Cover Washer will not stay in place
* Clear area of any left over debris
* Remove washer, press the outside edges of the mesh screen firmly into the center groove on the inside of the white nozzle/straw making certain to let the screen crease along the edge of the inside groove.
* Insert washer lip side facing the mesh screen, making certain the washer is seated snug and flat.
* If the above does not work, take the washer and the screen out. Clear any debris. Replace the washer first, then bend the screen into a dome shape and fit it into the washer with the point of the dome facing down and the sides pressed against the inside of the washer to hold it in.
Leaks
* From inside Ion/under the lid
o Confirm that the Basket Cover Washer is properly positioned and in place. (see above)
* From Valve
o Confirm that Vale is firmly seated on nozzle by pushing down firmly with the button fully depressed while twisting slightly around the straw.
o Confirm that the bag is not obstructing airflow into the valve.
o Confirm that the zip-tie holding the bag to the nozzle is situated with the zip-tie clasp oriented over the tip of the teardrop shaped silicon ring around the valve connection. Since zip-ties are not perfectly round when closed, this will ensure an airtight connection.
