The "four replacement bags" that came with my unit is actually one huge loooooong bag? Do you cut to fit whatever size you want, or is that a mistake?

The 12 foot long roll is the new replacement bags, you cut it to any size you like.

ohh hey,.. one end is heat sealed, once you start cutting into it you will want to use the supplied zip ties to seal the cut end.

Cool, did my first bag change. No problems whatsoever thanks to the tips on this forum.

I did a thorough "cleaning" on my machine, even though it's only a little over a month old. Kudos for making it easy to maintain; I changed the bag, the top filter, and cleaned the straw all in under 15 minutes.

I'm thinking of getting one of those cheap-o battery operated bag sealers so I can heat seal my own bags and make different sizes for various occasions. :)

heat up time is going to flux from one place to another due to alt. change and that might even change vapor temps too!

So you just have a zip tied end and a mouthpiece end? I wasn't really expecting that, so you are saying I will only have 2 bags that actually look like bags and not tootsie rolls? Or am I missing something?

My fiance and I have actually increased consumption since getting the Zephyr which wasn't really the goal lol. But its amazing and much better than sucking on a whip to a crappy box and getting a lot of oxygen.

Yes, I guess I wasn't as clear as I could have been. You will have 2 heat sealed bags attached to the mouthpieces, and the rest of the bags will need to be cut to size and sealed with a zip tie. ( You can seal the bags with a heat sealer.)

Hi Bruce,

I bought a Zephyr from a local shop here in Boston about a month ago and I've been loving it. The unit performed well straight out of the box and the bags are super quick to fill.

My questions is, are the whips available yet and how can I go about ordering one?

I would like to let people know if you don't have access to a commercial heat sealer, the seal-a-meal system for vacuum packing your food works very well for sealing the bags (even the nylon ones), and it is much cleaner looking than zip ties.

Also, I think this thread is more fun with pictures. I propose starting a new contest/game: Decorate your vaporizer. The winner gets..... winning recognition. You can use glitter pens, feathers, stickers, lamp shades, whatever- you name it. The crazier the better. Dress those vaporizers up! Then take a picture and post it in this thread. I WANT PICTURES!!!!!

I think I was inspired because of all the Halloween costumes and candy I'm seeing out in stores already - we're not even past labor day and they are already making us think about the end of October! So start brainstorming a costume idea for your vaporizer.

So I've narrowed down my bag vape choices to the Ion and the HerbalAire. The only thing pushing me toward the HA is it's supposed superior efficiency (and lower price). Has anyone done an actual efficiency comparison test between these two models? If the difference isn't that great, I'm going with the Ion. I also understand the herb chamber for the HA is a good deal smaller than the Ion's. Is this a major factor in the supposed efficiency difference? What's the smallest amount of herb that vapes effectively in the Ion?

Of course I think you should go with the ION. I am interested to see if any of the ION owners out there also have an HA and what they feel is the differences between the two.

I have found .025g of biomass does the trick for me, but again I would like to hear some input from other ION owners.

Once Zephyr gets the whips ready then this will be one of if not the top multi use vaporizer in my opinion. I cannot really comment in a comparison though.

The Zephyr is very efficient but I have no numbers to toss your way but keep in mind. Efficiency comes from more than the tool you use. I think you win no matter your choice. The HA is said to be inferior when used in whip mode. While the Zephyr currently still has not released their whip yet I am using a whip from Da Buddha and while you have to hold it on straight it works as good as a strong draw from the Buddha.

Putting the Zephyr or DBV with a bong is pure greatness. This would also work the HA but I cannot speak on its outcome due to the whip mode not being reportedly an equal.

I urge you to look into those aspects from those with regular experience on the HA though. I have used an HA but it was a very long time ago and I would not view that as experimenting with it rather than just using it with someone so my hands on view is rather small. Hope that helps.

Thanks, Bruce and Beez. I'm going with the Zephyr Ion. I just like the simplicity of it and the greater potential for dual functioning. Thankfully, I discovered the 15% discount at Puffitup which makes it a little easier on my pocketbook.

outside diameter: 8mm (about .315 inches)
inside diameter: 5mm (about .2 inches)
wall thickness: about 1.6mm (8 - 8.2mm total width)
1.5 meters long

Are these the numbers I should look for if I wanna buy some silicone tubing to use as a temporary whip? Is it as simple as just fitting the tube directly onto the straw?

Out of context I am not certain which numbers apply to what,... for instance the only thing on the ION 1.5 meters long would be the cord attached to the plug,...Outside diameter of the straw is 8mm (about .315 inches)

You do fit the tube straight to the straw,.. I use a hot box vaporizers 2 piece wand to connect to the straw, it has a nice glass fitting.

I got 1 really sticky resin filled bag right now and switched to a new one. I just picked up some 151 Rum to get the resin out. What is the best and most efficient way to get all the resin out of the bag with the 151 Rum?

Bruce maybe chime in?

Thanks,
Anthony

I don't know much about anything... but I do know I like to use the bags to bake apples in after they are good and sticky.

1 Bag
1/2 stick butter cubed
1/2 stick butter melted
3 good size apples chopped up
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup sugar ( brown or granulated)

Mix all together and put in bag, shake to coat inside of bag with butter mixture.
Bake on a dish in the oven at 300f for a half hour or till apples are soft.
Eat
Nap

soak up leftover liquid with flour tortillas or raisin bread.

A person could soak a bag in a mason jar of 151 for a week..... I am not certain what that would do to the printing on the side of the bag though...

yeah, every now and then Bruce drops a cooking gold nugget on us!

Quick update on my Ion experience...

My Ion didn't get much use due to leakage and Bruce and I finally determined that it was defective. He sent me a replacement immediately in time for my best party of the year. If this is how Zephyr treats people who won a free contest vape, I can only imagine how well they treat their paying customers!

I gave it a test run the night before the party and was impressed. The next night we broke out the 12' bag and filled it up three times. It filled up quickly and quietly and everyone dug it! Best party vape and accessory ever!

Since then I have been using it daily. I had been getting some soreness on the throat and tongue from my other vapes, and the bag is a nice changeup. It delivers cooler vapor with less effort and makes for an easy experience. My first vape experience was with a bag, and I had forgotten the advantages and differences.

This vape kicks ass and, for me, is nearly perfect. The bags and pump are much quieter than my first one. I can have this thing going in the room next to my sleeping kid with no problems. The heat up and blow up times are very fast. I turn the vape on and go about getting ready (get the herb, fill the bowl, get the bag, put it all together). Within a minute or two of finishing this routine the unit is ready. Bags blow up fast enough for me to sit and wait. But what I love most about this vape is the extremely accurate temp control. I've typed it before and will type it again...the temp control on this thing is the best and most accurate I have experienced. This vape makes digital temperature control a true feature, and not just a display. I blow the first two or three bags at 190C and enjoy a fantastic head high that allows me to still perform. Then later at night I finish it off with one or two bags at 226C (the highest it will go) and it knocks me out! I experience a very real difference in the vapor from these two temperatures. This is the only vape I have used that allows me to experience this every time.

I've got some friends that come over and can never get the hang of my other vapes...drives me nuts. But no one can fuck up a bag! This will be the vape I use for my guests as well. The best thing is that my wife likes it better. She is not a big weed user, and my vapes just make it a little harder. She hit the bag last night and loved it and was whacked...hadn't seen her like that since college!

I can only think of two things I would change. One, release a whip...but as much as I like the bag, it would not get much use for a little while. Two, a software update that allows me to have the display off when the unit is turned off. Right now I unplug it from the wall when not in use. Not a big deal, just a minor inconvenience.

Bottom line, unless someone is looking for a vape in the under $200 range, this is the first vape I would recommend to any vapor newbie, medical user or party vape user.

Vape on!
