So Monarx took down the page for their Ranger, I can’t tell if it’s temporary or not but I put in an order for one last month. It seemed to happen the same day I emailed them, a couple weeks in, wondering how long it would take to ship-that same day the page went down.I have not seen the Ranger on the new Monarx tech site, it used to go on sale pretty often at up to 40% off once. For what it’s worth they do claim to be getting a new stock/shipment “soon”.
So maybe they’re waiting for stock to advertise it again, although it does seem like it would be easier to just label it as a pre-order or as out of stock.
I’d just as soon cancel it for a refund, but I used a 50% off coupon so it’s almost worth the delay if it does show up eventually.

Yes, I have a blue version of the YLL IH.
I ordered it on stash shack.
I got it and an Omni in April, but I also got a Bowle at the end of April so I haven’t used my dynavaps a ton since than.
But the temperature control does work- I would note, it’s measuring the tip of the cap, which usually a bit cooler than everything else (I’ve combusted several times at as low as 140° C, especially on the second and third reheats) so you need to play around with it to learn what tip temp actually means. I’ve been using more often in wattage control mode -because it heats up a lot slower and less chance of combusting.
The only downside is I don’t feel like it has a ton of battery life/battery indicator stays at 2/6 bars for 80%of the battery life- so it’s hard to tell how much is left, unless you use the hit counter. Which is a big reason for why I ordered a ranger on sale-so I could always keep one topped off and ready to go.
I can confirm that the Anvil fits in the YLL Induction heater. With the right technique I can get dark brown ABV on a single draw.

I have been trying to grow a YouTube/IG for fun, where I review products I have, and recently I been buying new stuff to try out, especially stuff that isn't popular nor has a lot of videos.
This YLL IH seemed really cool, advanced, portable... so I wanted to test it for myself.
shipping was from China, but it was quite fast, arriving in 1 week from the day I ordered.
the box is aesthetically pleasing and has a magnetic lid
the heater itself is really well built and feels sturdy and premium.
that logo in the middle is the hidden magnet
it's really tiny footprint surprised me, I had thought my iSpire wand was a good footprint, but this thing is smaller and more discreet. Here it is next to an Anvil for size comparison
although, it doesn't work for the anvil, just a size comparison.
I've been using it with my Dynavaps and it's impressing me, when I get it right.
I honestly thought it would be a throwaway I can resell on the exchange to make some of the money back and just review it and make a video of it. But... I'm keeping this thing. I'm gonna make a longer video review.
Pros:
- very discreet and compact
- fast charging; takes 45-50 minutes via USB-C.
- 2 modes; watts & temp control
- hidden magnet is pretty cool and slick
- the screen is very readable, even outdoors, and is pleasing
- there is a "counter" that ticks like a clockhand, it is very convenient for timing & trying to get consistent repeatable hits
Cons:
- the battery meter, as suggested, isn't super accurate. I go by the "sessions" counter. I can usually get 45-50 clicks before it needs to be recharged.
- Big learning curve: you need to practice WITH herb in the bowl. You can't really go by the click with temperatre control mode. Watt mode is similiar in that regard. Really, the best way to learn it, is to just use it, experiment, and you'll figure it out. I'm getting REALLY impressive and tasty hits now but it took a few days of experimenting and wasting herb lol.
- one depth; no way to adjust the insert/depth. That's worked around, though, by playing with the temp/power and setting it to LOW on the first heatup and ramping it up on subsequent heat-ups.
ultimately, I highly recommend this. It's an excellent outdoor IH. Although, I've found myself using it at home too when I'm moving from room-to-room. It's worth a go from any DV enthusiast looking to find the perfect IH.

I haven't talked about this vape mostly because I don't have one. I like the constant power option as this makes all caps the same. What I don't know is how well it functions. The last I heard is that you cannot see the power level being used during the bake. I know constant current is easy to do but constant wattage is a real trick for IHs. Temp control is dubious only in that the cap never sees the same heat at the end as it does at the bowl.
There is one thing that keeps me from exploring further with this vape. After seeing the cleaned up circuitry from earlier versions, I give it a decent build quality rating.
I still see this as an Orion clone and that alone has a bad taste for me. Not many others seem to care about that. This is DV/DT's problem and they've had the conversation. Therefore, it seems the rift has died down.
My biggest concern with these, and this may be why we are not hearing as much as other modules, is the use of 14500 cells. My early studies to come up with a small portable HalfPint was to vet batteries. I didn't want to go LiPo simply because I don't use them in every day devices. In general, they are more robust and have lower internal resistance. They are also very efficient shapes being rectangular instead of cylindrical. I also didn't want to go with 18650 because of the weight. I didn't give much effort toward 2S configurations so very little was left to evaluate.
I started out with 14500 Efest purple cells claiming nearly 10 amp capability. I ran these on a DIY IH module for several month. I did this with several sets to make sure my results would be consistent. Sure enough, these cells, the Efest cells, would unbalance in a heartbeat. They were literally self destructing with use. I know, I know, Efest sucks, right? Well, my next test was with newer 18350 Efest cells rated for ~10 amps also. Sure enough, I have yet to destroy a set. They remain perfectly balanced and testing a year later shows they still have 95% capacity after daily use and full charging.
If YLL found cells that work reliably at these currents, my hat is off to them. But if you start having runtime issues prematurely, this is why. If you guys at YLL are working on your next design, consider the 18350 cells instead.
Its a cool product with new features and I am all for that. I'd be happy to do an eval but I can't put my dime down on this due to what I have experienced with these smaller cells. Not here to bust balls; just sharing observations from experience from a previous relevant study.

I use the YLL with my Anvil often. It works well once you dial it in. Does your Anvil not fit in your YLL? Mine does, but it is snug.

I am only able to fit it up until the copper battery, which is too wide for it.
and heating it on the other section doesn't give me as intense of a hit as I expect from the anvil... what is your technique? I don't mind experimenting in the name of science.
I prefer it with my Dynavaps, it's excellent with my half-bowls, very efficient and quite tasty.
Yes, that is how it fits in mine.
You have to heat well past the click with the Anvil in any induction heater. I set the YLL to power mode, 70 watts. Heat in 15 second cycles to avoid the timeout. Watch the timer. Pull it out and reinsert it just before the 16th second. That is the technique for continually heating the Anvil with the YLL.
My technique is to heat to the click, pull it out and reinsert it, heat for an additional 2 cycles (30 seconds), then 12 more seconds. That makes 42 seconds of heating after the click. I get nice even dark brown ABV on a single draw. My airflow is set pretty tight, and my bowl is filled loosely with no tamping.
The YLL is not the best induction heater for the Anvil, but it does work. It takes longer to get the desired results than my other heaters. 42 seconds is a long time to heat the Anvil after the click, but it does produce good results that way.

The YLL detects the material and starts heating automatically. No button push necessary.

We can control by Watt feature
Only manually - it does not come with any spacers, if that's what you're referring to.

Do you spin the vapcap waiting for click or is the heat even in a circular area?

its induction heating, so you don't have to worry about spinning it.
just put it in and itll heat from all sides.
I also use the power mode exclusively.
the Temp control is interesting, and I played with it, but not very consistent. The idea is interesting: set it to a temp, and it will heat up until it gets to that temp then STAY at that temp.
if it was consistent that mode would be cool but not really necessary
just stick to power mode
I usually do 35-40W for first hit and subsequently dial it up.
I also have really enjoyed setting it to a low watt, and leaving it past the click and inhaling while heating, the low watt wont burn it as easily, and you can feel when inhaling when its getting to be thicker and thicker vapor. This method is more advanced, and not super easy to replicate as sometimes I can end up combusting, but its my favourite method since those low-watt hits get such an AMAZINGLY TASTY TERPY hit the likes I've only been able to replicate with a very low-flame single-flame torch.

Isn’t it more likely that the YLL is not meant to be used with an Anvil due to its greater metal mass than a “defective” device?
