The ceramic filter was pushed into the silicone. It was slightly past flush with the silicone so rather than trying to dislodge the ceramic by pulling on it, we pushed from the opposite side to push the silicone out after the mouthpiece tip was removed. When this was done, the bottom magnet part of the mouthpiece assembly came out too. We didn't know if this was by design and was supposed to come out. But seeing all the posts here, it seems like it should be stationary.Hi, I don't understand, sorry, the ceramic is flush with the silicone holder when correctly positionned, I can't see how you can push it deep inside the silicone holder but I never handled a beta Starry 4, there was probably small differences though.
Did you said you dislodged the part @MxMax dislodged, by only pushing by the mouthpiece side to dislodge the silicone?
It didn't take much effort for us to get this part separated initially, but now after reinserting it, it seems "fixed" in place because the issue can't be reproduced. So one is left to ponder, since the part came out easily, could it have not been installed proper upon the initial assembly?
On the first cleaning, it was really gummed up internally as we had used the unit for a few weeks without cleaning to see how long it could go until the lack of basic maintenance disrupted the functionality (for us it was to the point where you could hear the accumulated resin in the mouthpiece assembly bubbling when taking a draw on the unit). We didn't let it go so long for the 2nd cleaning and put the device into a weekly cleaning rotation with some other devices requiring cleaning. The reason we pushed the ceramic filter in past flush (it was very slight, not deep) was so that the resin accumulating on the ceramic filter would not come in direct contact with the top of the Resin cup which was included with our Beta unit. If the Resin Cup wasn't removed promptly after a session, the sticky resin would remove the lid or even the entire cup when the mouthpiece assembly was removed from the main body.
Also, as stated above, we broke our ceramic filter during the initial cleaning out of the box as it popped out and landed on the tile floor in the shop, so we didn't want to use any further force on the part as it was already compromised where a corner of the filter on one side broke off upon impacting the floor. Really not sure if improvements were made upon the device itself between the beta we received and the mass production units to follow. If I had to guess, it was things like the new Dosing Capsule that were missing from the box as we got a Starry 3 printed box and VapeFiend Resin Cup instead of the mass produced Dosing Capsules designed for the Starry 4.
