starry because its mouthpeice doenst crack, also design wise it just feels much better, although now theres the xmax fog which is basically the starry but hybrid convection
Do you think the xmax fog is way better than starry? maybe on par with mighty? thank you
what is your daily driver? what would you consider a good daily driver? if that plastic would be only thicker, carbon ceramic mighty? cant imagine the priceI'm not 100% sure but I think @stickstones has been testing Xmax Fog so he may have some insight.
There's also the thread here http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/x-max-fog.25533/
For me the Starry (retailer branded or otherwise) isn't what I would consider a daily driver. I do like it for something stealthy when I'm out and about and for a quick couple hits to maintain a buzz because it's pretty fast to temp.
hoy guys, I used the mighty as my main vape I have been satisfied but it broke just after few months, now Im thinking if it would be worthy to go the same way again, for that much so me have been thinking about getting some Starry v2 or Vivant alternate, any opinions on which to choose and why would be much valued.
Since the mighty broke I have been using fm v5
When I received my FMs they for sure smelled like robot farts. I burned them in for 2 charges and it went slowly away, did you burn in your stary (washed the mouthpiece with iso? When I received mighty it smelled similar, after burning in it was away, I even got a new M but Im still hesitant to unpack it since my last M lasted 4 months, but this one seems to be the new improved model.Wondering if they done something to casing.I guess my flowermate v5os. Its not a for the price thing. I really think the vape is outstanding. .i just bought a starry, but just started looking for comments on smell thing. Dont really see why it would smell as much as it does after use. But its a nice vape.
I had a couple issues with a one yr old fm. I can say the customer service went way above what it could have been.
I should have said smell escaping after a few puffs. But compared to fm I think temp needs to be turned down a bit. I'd say I get same results with temp a bit lower .But nice small vape. It' a fair price . I love the quickness. I haven' looked everywhere but on starry that middle oval on mouhpiece it pops right out for cleaning. And I thought u had to take that whole gasket top off..I found out by accident made it better. When I received my FMs they for sure smelled like robot farts. I took the middle ceramic filter and surrounding Teflon seat off the Starry completely. I was cleaning that filter too often for my liking. So now I don't have to clean it every other day but the mouthpiece itself is getting reclaim coated much more. I've been using it that way for a few weeks now without doing anything other than brushing out the oven.
If you do take the filter and flexible Teflon seat/seal out you'll have to lower your temps. I used to start at 390 and now I start at 380.
You must be using a stainless screen on top of the load I assume?? Are you using the screens that came with the Starry (the inside the mouthpiece ones?) I have been running top ceramic screen only, no stainless since the beginning. No complaints except the top ceramic cleaning intervals.
That is a good idea. I am going to try that. The other small holes do clog fast.Spot on Sloth....I'm placing one of the extra oven screens on top of the oven. Way easier to clean and I'm cleaning it less often.

@sNc - I tried the concentrate insert and it worked but it wasn't nearly as good as a device made specifically for concentrates. Be careful with the amount of concentrate used. I put a little too much in and it spilled over a bit. You might want to start with a half BB pellet sized first.
I put the concentrate insert in, heated it to max temp, waited about 30 seconds and then dropped the concentrate in. This allowed me to watch it melt into the insert before I put the mouthpiece on and took that first hit. That's how I knew I put too much in and could tell it was melted and ready.
Good Luck! Would love to hear how you made out.
No issues with concentrate function for me I meant more on the dry herb front for tips and tricks.
Here's my personal preferences.....
- Medium grind - Loosely packed to allow unrestricted air flow.
- Start at 390F
- Once it reaches 390F - Hit it if you flavor chase, if you're not chasing flavor let it heat soak for 30 seconds before taking the first hit.
- Allow at least 15 seconds between hits to heat condition each draw.
- I don't stir the bowl but I will lightly tap it between hits.
- When vapor slows I temp step 15F degrees to 405F.
- I finish off the bowl at 425F but it tastes like ass.
Best suggestion I could give you for additional tips/techniques would be reading this thread backwards. Lots of good stuff in the thread beyond my personal choices.
Yeah I have read a bit of the thread already just wanted some fresh input.
Im yet to find the right balance of flavour and vapour as I'm mostly a flavour chaser..I've found so far at lower temps neither flavour nor vapour is satisfactory for me...more experimenting with load size and pack required I think.
I find the draw a little to open for my liking and think this may be hindering the flavour and vapour production at lower temps...going to try out what someone else said a few pages back with regards to obstructing some of the air intakes.
Haven't noticed that (I know what you mean as I get that with the Pax 3) but isnt always easy as Im mostly an outdoor consumer. The other option is "sipping" or just slowing your draw. During the first few hits does any light vapor drift out of the mouthpiece? I find that once the bowl is heat soaked the first few draws leak a tiny bit of vapor at the tip end. The reason I mention the slight leak...it's how I know I'm at the optimal point.
I do around 380 whole time.dont really jump around to much. Definitely don' go over 400. Because it seems to me that the way it heats up is super efficient and a bit higher then what the ape shows. Plus I'm not ever going to get a high temp that might combust. Not going to happenHaven't noticed that (I know what you mean as I get that with the Pax 3) but isnt always easy as Im mostly an outdoor consumer.
My 28 month old Gen II Summit is falling apart a bit and I am needing to have a back up. The Spirit looks pretty good after watching this review a few times, but I would like to try an IQ or just stay cheap with a Summit Plus.unboxing review and session on the spirit by storm
