Sorry, no photo, but some Candyland arrived today, and it's knocked my socks right off. I've not experienced such a giggly euphoric buzz in a very long time, and I've only had a half bowl of a Vapman. Superlative
I'm sorry, I'm more than slightly spangled. I snuck off work early, 1645 and spent 15 minutes by the river with the Vapman and full bowl of Candyland. 3 hours later I'm still wearing a daft grin, and there's no obvious end in sight. Have a great weekend everyone

That nug looks nice. Does it smell/taste like oreos?
It kinda does actually. Not right from the bud itself but when you vape it, there are chocolate and vanilla notes. It's nice.
That Zam grinder looks super clean. Is it new? Do you like it? I only recently found out about them.
Super new. I do like it overall but still learning about its limitations. You can read more in this thread.

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
Just picked up some old school hash in temple ball form. It has been 30+ years since I've had anything like a chunk o' hash.

Last time I had Morroccan hash was in Amsterdam, back in the 1990's. We loved it, but we were traveling around and couldn't take it with us, so I wrapped it in plastic wrap and stuffed it under a park bench in Vondelpark. Two weeks later, when we returned, it was still there and we were able to get high for the rest of the trip. :peace:

The first time I had Morroccan hash, a friend smuggled me back some on an international flight. He liked to take chances. Anyway, it was half the size of a Chunky chocolate bar. I walked around with it in my pocket for a month. You'd just take a lighter to it and pinch a piece off. Loved that smell.

Love all the shared batches & pics, keep it up y'all . I shared some hash recently, it's in the 'good videos to watch when vaked' thread.

My contribution here is this batch of Sour Diesel in the vape, it still impresses & is very potent :science::science:, enjoy

A strong sativa, very cerebral, stimulating, uplifting and good euphoria. A big high, typically with some physical dexterity loss even. Still, I can use it to relax on the couch with tv / music or to go do some chores :luv:. I used some earlier today along with doing some house / yard work & I'm using some tonight while relaxing ;)

It's been great to see all the sativas shared in a hybrid/indica dominated world 👍

Durban Poison Smalls priced at $65/oz OTD. This dispensary usually overstates THC in the mid-30's range but they had the nerve to rate this one at 41% total THC. Whatever the actual strength, this one has a strong desirable flavor. I've been in a daze ever since I got it and I vaguely remember going back and buying a second ounce. I'm blending it with other sativas but it's excellent as a standalone. The folks at the dispensary are very aware that it's a sativa, I guess the label showing it to be a hybrid is a typo.

Interesting. I have also been consuming (mainly) Durban Poison as of late.

I see claims on the interwebs that Durban Poison is a "landrace" sativa, but who knows?

It looks and smells nothing like the pure sativa strains of the Golden Era of Sativa (mid to late 70s) before everything was hybridized with skunk weed.

CA Sinsemilla, Mauie Wowie, Thai, and other pure sativa strains had a sweetness that was often evocative of pine, grapefruit, cascade hops, and similar aromatics. In contrast Durban Poison smells more like alfalfa hay to my nose. I find it difficult to believe this is not a hybrid.

That said, while the flavor elements are different, and Durban Poison lacks the long Calyxes (bracts) and the profusion of resin soaked "red-hairs" (pistils) that were characteristic of classic old-school pure sativas, it does--more than any other stain I've tried in a long time--give my brain a very similar uplifting/energizing high that is very close in character to the OG sativas.

I'm dubious about its claimed status as a pure sativa, but I know of no strain that suits my tastes better in 2024.

Supposedly from South Africa. Nothing like central American it Mexican but very good. The flavor can vary to some degree. This batch seems like the potent stuff I used to get in Colorado. I paid twice as much for full size buds seven years ago.

Yes, supposedly from S. Africa. As I mentioned it does not (to me) resemble old-school sativa strains in regard to smell or appearance, but the effects (for me) are positively similar.

I wonder if there are authoritative sources on this strain's history?

It is helping me with neuropathy in my right leg, due to nerve damage. I use cannabis for my spinal nerve damage and CPTSD. Thank goodness for this incredible plant.

It's a good question. I looked at several articles and they all point the same direction. No one knows how it got there, one article suggested Arab & Indian traders probably brought cannabis as early as 1500 AD. The Dutch East India Company traded it ~1640. However it got there it's a unique psychoactive landrace from outside the town of Durban today. Some photos on Reddit show long skinny fan leaves so it might have sativa morphology.

I should mention that I've purchased a lot of mediocre Durban Poison over the years. It's not all great, just lucky this batch turned out above average. I would prefer Oaxcan Gold or some other original sativa, but that doesn't seem to exist anymore. The only modern hybrid with the flavor most like an old Mexican sativa that I am aware of is called crackerjack. Bought one ounce several years ago, tried to get more a few days later but it was gone. I guess I'll have to grow it myself....

Thank you for the information and the link.

After reading the article on the history of marijuana in South Africa, I spied another article on the website that gave this sativa lover some hope.

Good news from 2022:

Thailand legalised cultivating and consuming cannabis this month, reversing a hard-line approach of long prison sentences or even the death penalty for drug offences. The BBC’s South East Asia correspondent Jonathan Head reports on what’s behind the dramatic change.

My hope is that somewhere in Thailand that some of the original non-hybridized Thai strains still exist. Thai was some of the sweetest, most delicious, and most energizing herb back in the day. Pretty similar to classic CA Sinsemilla (and I would expect they share similar genetics).

Now we need some intrepid 21st Century explorers to go collect samples that can be cloned and propagated. Industrial growers are unlikely to touch such strains as they don't fit into the industrial grow-house model of horticulture, but for home growers who are willing to put the best part of a year growing "trees" with massive kola bubs into maturity, what a boon that would be!

My perspective anyway.

As to Durban Poison, I only discovered it this year after following the recommendation of a dispensary manager who'd listened to my tales of woe over not finding today's hybridized so-called sativas not having the same "lift" as old school strains. I've tried 3 brands: Up North, Claybourne Co., and the house-brand from The Syndicate (So Cal dispensary chain). All have been consistent.

Not old school sativa-like herb in terms of appearance, taste, smell, but definitely in the same wheelhouse in terms of having that old school sativa effect on my brain. A very happy "discovery" for me.

I remember getting the best happy weed from Mexico, back in the seventies. That stoped with the paraquat spraying, thanks to Nixon for that stupid action. And now, they are finding that paraquat may cause Parkinson’s disease. Back to the Mexican weed. Everyone started using Columbian Indica strains. They were not like the Mexican dancing strains.
