Discontinued VRIPtech Heating Wand

Yeah DeepFried, I'm still really on the fence about it. I already have a decent vape/bong set-up with my VB, so I'd hate to splurge on the VHW, have it break with my heavy usage, and then be out that money. Rather buy a lot of weed!

Anyone who uses regularly (4-5 bowls per day with the unit) and NOT had the VHW go out on you within a few month's use? Let me know!

It really is amazing when it works. Vhw with a blazemaster is by far my fav of all vapor setups that I've tried but I have a big dislike for whips. I have a feeling that my case being in my trunk with my sub the majority of the time didn't help anything either. I'm still waiting to hear from mark. If I don't I may have a whole bunch of heatwand accesories for sale soon. I need my all glass vapor fix again. It really is that good.....

I agree fully! This is one of the best vapes i have ever used as far as its functions go, but i hardly got to use mine and all the money i spent on it has pretty much ended up a waste! If i do not hear something positive from them i am gonna also try to sell my remaining vhw equipment and i wont be recommending this product to anybody that is in the market for a high quality vape. Which is pretty much every body that comes through my house or my shop and runs the gauntlet of vapes and other accessories i own. I do hope they can remedy my situation so i can get back to enjoying the superior quality of the vripmaster!

Considering the unit doesn't require any other upkeep or maintenance beyond the 30$ element repair, it seems like a fair cost of maintenance.

I don't know how to search inside these 65 posts but can anybody tell me what size screens I need to buy for my bowl? It's tiny, I think maybe 9.5mm? does that sound right?

Mine lasted around 7 months before needing to have the element replaced. Considering the unit doesn't require any other upkeep or maintenance beyond the 30$ element repair, I consider it to be well within reason for how well it works.
I could understand if this was a new product and had growing pains at first, but I have been waiting a long time for all these problems to get worked out and instead seem to be getting worse and more of them as well as the vendor becoming non responsive. The cost to repair is only one issue, it is more of a nuisance than anything else and if you are relying on it for meds you'll be without relief.

The vhw hasn't been out that long though. No smoke was a beta tester and he got his like 2 or 3 months before me so about a year and a half. It still sucks that everyones keeps dying. And recently it got worse which i really don't get.

I'm starting to get the feeling I'm gonna be s.o.l. With this one. I think I may bust it open and get the ohm meter out to see where the problem is. There's really not a whole lot to these things.

I've got my vhw for abt 1.5 months now and haven't had a problem with the unit.
Are there any recommendations as to what not to do?

I typically turn my unit on to full blast and let it pre-hit for 10 min. Turn it down 2-3 noches or sometimes not... and i typically vake for another 15 - 20 min on a full bowl. (I like to lay the wand down for a few minutes after each hit - more like a shisha i'd say).

I use my vhw everyday, at least 3 times per day. Since I live in europe its difficult to get replacements for the unit - so I really need to take care of this baby of mine. If you got any user suggestions as to how to prolong the life expectancy of the product - it would be greatly appreciated.

(@ bonsai006)
There was a silicon sleeve supplied with my purchase - but the sleeve was just small covering the front part of the wand. It was free.

I'm not related to VHW at all, but I will share a lil more of my experience. Yes the unit has some issues, however, even if you are not covered by warranty, they offer repeat buyers EXTREMELY deep discounts on any replacement or repair parts or services.

The cost of repair or replacement is very cheap, when compared to the AMAZING vapor and skull busting high this unit produces. I have an Herbalaire too, and I love that unit, but even if I am ripped off the HA, if I pick up the VHW, it rips my noggin right open. It has broken through my very high tolerance and the taste is the best I have yet to taste EVER.

The best way to prolong life expectancy is to UNPLUG the unit in between hits once you start to get ripped and slow down. If you are not going to immediately take another rip within a couple mins, just unplug it or flick the power strip off. The unit heats up very fast in under 5 mins. Even at the low dial setting the glass is still quite hot and this can shorten the heater cover life. This is in my humble experience of leaving it on low all day for a 3-day weekend, turning it up for hits oops.

2nd is the mic stand and I feel this is really pretty important. This allows the heat to exit the wand and travel straight up. Since hot air rises, you are doing the heater cover a big favor.

For those waiting for improvements to this unit, please know that they are in the works according to Mark the maker who gave me his phone number and shared pages of awesome ideas and thoughts about his baby the VHW. They are planning a new heater core which only heats at the tip. They truly love this product and they will not leave anyone hanging. They cannot replace every heater cover for free, but $50 is no problem in my book. Think of it like a new bowl to buy once and a while. I also find it works best for me with a big bong. :)

I dont want to claim to be any kind of pro, just sharing my humble thought. Please bring the positive discussion and happy to hear all thoughts. :)

Maybe a suggestion to all of those having problems with the VHW burning out. Why not see if the VHW heater cover will fit on a better made soldering iron than the cheap chinese model that they use.

Two I would look into are the Goot px-201 & the Edsyn CL1080-H10, both have temperature control on the handle and are well made products.

I've been using the older Steinel VripTech setup since 2007 and have had nothing but good things to say about it and the support I've received from Mark at VripTech.

After recently discovering this great forum and watching StoneMonkeys videos I'm just waiting to receive my VHW order. Can't wait to experience the blue vapors I've been hearing about.

I know it's recommended to use a surge protector with the VHW, so I was wondering if any decent power strip with a surge protector is good enough or should I be looking at the hardcore surge protectors used for home a/v equipment?

And for those people having problems with the VHW, I'm sure a call or e-mail to Mark will help out as he's always been super helfpul and always provided great customer service.

Does anybody know if the VWT perk is worth the $200 that they ask for on their website. Just curious, as I don't know anything about bongs and perks, what $200 could buy at a headshop in comparison. I really like the perk, but am selling my 007 kit and thinking about keeping the perk.

Thanks for the link, that's definitely a nice piece of glass. Pretty sure you can't compare it to the VWT perk though. The perk IS all glass on glass. I just got back from a head shop and anything if close to the VWT perk was $100 or more, and they didn't even look as solid as the VWT perk.

I'm selling a 007 kit, but still need some glass, so was just wondering whether I should include it with the kit and buy some new glass, or keep it and mark down the kit.

Thanks for your help.

In my personal opinion it is not worth it. You can get a very nice glass on glass bong from aqualab tech. Here is an example: in my opinion any glass on glass would be better than the VWT.

forgot to say this little beaker is $45, and credit the find to lwien

The VWT Perk is definitely a solid perc and I love the inverted dome style design that they use and it also minimizes splash so no splashguard is needed.

I haven't heard too many good things about Weedstar myself but I try to get the best pieces I can comfortably afford. I've heard that the trees are fairly flimsy and you get broken tree arms with the slightest of contact but like I said, these are just stories that I have heard and not experienced first hand.

I just ordered mine yesterday! I'm pumped...now I need to sell my Vapor Bros set up to someone and I'll be good.

I'll try to get a review up here with some pictures once I get mine.

I just bought this thing.

SEVERAL QUESTIONS

why are there no screws to hold teh heating element in place ?
The thing that i'm describing that isn't screwed down has threads, like someone is supposed to screw into something...

The heating element seems loose in there

Or is it supposed to be like that ?

I don't want to go off-topicand I could write an entire thread on why Weedstar sucks so much and why YOU should avoid it... but the bottom line is DON'T.

You can take your pick why... from chinese glass, to stealing designs, to a douchebag owner and overall shitty customer service.

This is the first I heard of the glass getting stuck to the coil, the coil was supposed to alleviate that problem.

Send an email to info@vriptech.com and they will send you a replacement shortly.
