Hmmmm, who are you talking too Aab1? :D He's reclaiming the vapor honey build up on the bag walls...
And if you want to clean your screen jut dump it 30 mn in iso, then hot water and it's clean as new...

yeah, i put all the parts through a wash of iso at least once a month. sometimes more. It gets my screen right back to that brand new look.

that iso is getting pretty golden in colour. i bet it's gonna be good when i finally evaporate it. (never made oil before...)

with regard to getting plant material in your bag, something sounds wrong there. the only thing i get in my bag is vapor, never plant material (at least pieces big enough for me to see)

Hello Fellow Vaporists!
I have been a follower of this forum for close to two years but until today, I have never posted! I find this forum to be my "go-to" for effective and helpful tips about vaporizing. Over the last few years I have accumulated quite a few vaporizers (Iolite, MFLB, Da Buddha Vape, Extreme-Q Vape, and the Volcano Classic). I have grown very fond of vaporizing and very rarely still combust. In my experience with the different vaporizers I have owned, I find all of them to be enjoyable in their own ways. I enjoy the MFLB for its quick setup and fast vapor producing times, the extreme because of its whip style and versatility when using glass pieces attached to it, and the volcano for its reliability and constant efficient results each time. It has occurred to me that there is one definitive difference between the volcano and the other vapes I own. The Volcano uses a convection based process with hot air which reaches the desired temperature to blow through and heat up the plant material into a bag. With my other vaporizers, They have a conduction based mechanism to heat up the plant matter(e.g. Iolite with the metal chamber, extreme with the glass cyclone or elbow, MFLB stainless steel mesh) . I'm not a scientist and cannot attest to which is more efficient but I noticed that the volcano creates a collection of much less brown vaporized bud at the end of it. I do not believe the volcano is for everyone. Although I was extremely happy with its performance since I have purchased it, The non versatility factor of the volcano (bag fill only) did get repetitive after a few months which led to my purchase of the extreme. All in all, each of the vaporizers work and do what they are supposed to. Just a few small differences in how they get there. I still use my volcano as my main vaporizer just because of the small learning curve when vaporizing with friends or new acquaintances, along with the quick bag fill times. I do not mean to suggest the Volcano is the best vaporizer ever, I have read the forums enough to see that any suggestion of the sort ends up stirring up quite a fuss. I do believe all my vaporizers are efficient at vaporizing thc, they only differ in the methods and steps taken to get there. I very much appreciate this forum and all of the members that contribute to it with helpful information and tips. I look forward to continuing to be a member here at FC! greatest place for information on vaporization.

Welcome Mycooltie... and nice 1st post!
I totally agree with you on many points...You are right saying the Cano uses less convection then the other models you have stated -the Q doesn't use much convection neither though- but it still uses some convection processes (through the SS walls of its chamber and through the SS liquid pad, if used).

Anyhow you are right saying the Cano is incredibly efficient and reliable: flavor/easiness to use/efficiency of the medication -I don't know why/how but the bags have more effects on my methabolism then whips-/draw free experience... and you are also very right saying there is no best vaporizer!

So welcome again and happy vaping! ;)

how about that lil grinder that comes with it too eh... surprisingly stands up and fills a niche (powder maker) :D

elmomuzz, seeing your ownership listing there seems you are probably qualified to comment as such :p

I love my volcano too and its not leaving my desk anytime soon. But i find other vapes to be tastier. My bag has been used way over 100 times though and im sure this is a factor in the taste issue.

what vape would you say is the most flavourful

***plz excuse the wierd stuff my keyboard is acting funny!!

The old bag is 100% an issue!
To me taste is better/longer with bag vs. whips.
with my Cano I can get 3 bags of taaaaaasty hits (that's 15 big hits!) and then 2 bags more neutral

vs.

the whip with the same 0,1g will give me max 6 taaaaasty hits + 5 tasty honey taste + rest neutral.

Oh Elmo, I am still testing all the vapes I wish before doing my own definitive podium...but Cano is still on my actual podium ;) . Be careful saying these type of taboos out loud! :D

I will have to start cleaning my bags more often then to freshen things up! (haha thought I was doing fairly well since this is only the 2nd bag ever used so far.)

hey guys. so I was thinking, it's been about a year. i should probably think about taking that cover off and dusting it out.

So I went to get started, and surprise! the screw types are super funky! it's a 6 sided hexagon measuring 3 mm in diameter (that's 1/8th of an inch to you non metric people) but then it's not that simple, it has a little piece of metal in the middle of each depression piking out like a little bar to keep you from putting an Allan key or whatever the standard tool is called. what do i need to buy to make this top come off?

Thanks guys!

Well after having the volcano classic for a few weeks im in love!

What i do is leave it a little above 6.5 and basically grind up as i did for my magic flight launch box. ( which is collecting dust now ;/ )

Then put the head on and fill her up! sometimes i turn it on first for 10 seconds then put the head on but i find myself putting it on as soon as i hit the green button lol

Do you guys take the head off the heater after you turn the fan off?

Do you ever need to clean anything else other then the easy valve? such as the unit itself?

Yah...I take the "Herb Filling Chamber" off the heater once I've turned off the fan because heat is still being released from the unit. I usually just clean the Herb Filling Chamber (Easy Valve) because that's the only piece that gets noticeabley dirty.

For anyone using an easy valve. i purchased a volcano and it came with two sets of screens, one looks thinner then the other..

Do i use the stronger ones for the easy valve or what?

You know, I've had the Volcano packed away since I got my Old City Diffuser a few months ago. I had a brief flirtation with using just a LaunchBox but it hasn't panned out as nice as I'd like and I found the Volcano was simply easier for me to operate and extract what I wanted as best I could. I recently was just sick of the higher maintenance on cleaning the glass stems for for the OCD, which is a bit of a whip-like log vape, compared to how damn simple to clean the Volcano is even when you factor in for bag changes. So I finally hooked the Volcano back up and have been using it for a week.

The short conclusion is that really, in exchange for loading up far more material and being not as efficient as a log vape, you sure get blasted much faster. I'm not sure if this is the sort of thing I want to aim for all the time, so it's nice to simply own more than one vape. If anything, I'm really excited to see if the VapeXhale hits on par like the Volcano and is as low maintenance.

Ennui Cookout,
I'm guessing this is the official Volcano thread? I ordered a Classic with Solid Valve and am expecting it to arrive on Monday, I can't wait. I've been using an Iolite for the past year but it just recently stopped working on me so I decided to upgrade. I noticed on this board that the major gripes with the Volcano are: a) it uses bags and b) it's expensive. I kind of prefer the bags (at least for now... we'll see!) and the price was not really an issue, like the OP said ages ago, it's not too bad for a quality product. Although now I've seen there are many alternatives, so I can see where a lot of you are coming from.

How is the Solid Valve in terms of maintenance? How often will I need to clean it and change bags, assuming daily use? Also, how is it for a personal vaporizer? Most of the time there will be multiple people using it, however how does it hold up for a solo session?

Thanks guys!

Welcome burbank cartel,

I've had the classic for years and it's still one of my fav vapes. None of my others are as well engineered or consistent in performance (although it's my only forced air model, so that's a factor!)

Solid valve is fine. i got mine before they developed the easy valve, and I've got to admit I wondered why they bothered. It's little effort to do, and actually almost enjoyable because the parts are so well engineered. I have to admit though, I don't clean mine all that often cos i'm too lazy. The bags should last a while- never measured how long, I just change it when it gets slightly stiff and stickier- you'll know when. Takes a few weeks at least. But it's largely personal preference too. the older they get, the more of a slight taste of old vapor persists. Some might like to change more regularly.

For solo use it's fine. Depending on your consumption levels, you might want a smaller bag. You could install one, or just shorten a full size bag by tying it with string or a cable tie or something. Or get used to not fully inflating the bag. Or just vape the lot :ko:

Wow there's so much post that i just had to skip to this page after reading the first. I don't mean to be rude and stuff it's just that by the time i get to down here i'd probably forget what i wanted to ask.

Anyway before i do, just wanted to point out that few people actually think staying below 200-202 C is safe and stuff but, does anyone have a link?
Cause the way i see it it's that, 185 has been confirmed as everything cept tar and carbon monoxide and at 200-202 there are already quite a few toxins. So in theory from 185 to 202 let's say, that's when the poison is being released and is infecting the air we are about to breathe.
I personally say that 185 just aint right, but 190 hits that shit on the head of the nail, feel me?
Now some vaporizers out there ain't accurate, i mean even the volcano classic has a 9 -/+ ratio, so for all you know there's a slight chance you think ur on 190 but in fact ur closer to 200 or could be the other way round, could be 180. Now as a 185er with no toxins you gots a problem cause even if there is a 9 -/+ in temp you still aint gonna reach 200. Now at 200 u get cbn n shit. So im sure the temp goes up and down during those 30-55 secs it's filling your bad, and i'm sure it aint got time to vape up the extras since it's always changing temp within the set range which is why the ideal temp for a classic should really be 186 or 187 C. If you really wanna be safe try going to 176-177 then if the scientists are right, for sure you aint gotta worry about carnicogens, but ull still be left with tars and carbon monoxide.

Those with a digi vap ain't got the luxury of the classic, since tolerance is only 2 -/+ however since it's more precise, you don't really need to play around with the temp cause even if it does go higher at 185 there cant be that many carnicogens with 2 degrees. Unless u wanna be super safe and u go down to 183. Also for buzz temps, digis can sit on 200 or go down to 198.

So what do you guys thinks?

Now i said what i said, i got a question...

There's been a lotta talk about "stirring" the pot after a bag or w/e, does this apply to volcano users cause the way i see it it's that you only really ever put enough to fill the screen, and the moment u take it off the volcano it moves inside anyway, so do u guys still stir it or not?

Oh yah, and shit i forgot... The only bad thing i don't like about the volcano is the size of the hole/valve were you inhale through. Compared to joints, this thing is the size of a mcdonalds straw, if they released easyvalve different size mouthpieces so you can enjoy the vapor rather than vaccuming it inside your lungs then than would be really cool. Besides that, volcano owns, other vapes wannabes are douchebags. Vive la revolution!

el o el, easy valve takes few seconds to clean with brush/tissue and alcohol, in fact you could probably time someone and it would take them less than 30 secs. The bag however takes longer if you don't use a flathead screwdriver to wedge the ring out.

When I got my Volcano, it came from the factory set at 365 F (185 C), which gave me a good idea of where to start.

As for stirring, I do it sometimes and other times not at all. If you're only putting a very minimal amount in then it probably doesn't matter, but if you're filling up a bowl for 3+ people then it can't hurt to stir it up after 2 bags.

I stir my bowls after I have brewed the first bat at 5.5 and then another a 6.5. it is then i am ready to brew up the 3rd bag that i stop and give the mixture a little stir.

another tip I have l;earned is when you are cutting the bag length. go a little larger rather than smaller. my reasoning as it was explained to me is this: the first 1/3rd of the bag when it is filling is weak in comparison to the vapor being produced for the remaining 2/3rds. if the bag is too small then you will get more than a 1/3 of weak vapor. this leads to unsatisfying tokes.

the last bag i made was about arms length to my mouth. just long enough to reach the end of the bag. this seemed to be ideal, and i can attest the bags were more impressive!

I stir all the time... I use the concentrate/liquid screen all the time too.
start at 375... stir, 385, stir, 395, stir, then from 405-411--but that's just if I'm scrounging... and the abv is still potent enough to make good brownies. That last bag is usually pretty airy, though... depending on how much I put in it.

If it's a HUGE bowl, I go up by 5s.

Do you all recommend taking the volcano apart to dust it? I've had mine for going on 3 years now, and it's never been apart... it's a digi.

The valve has been apart--I've cleaned it... just never taken the cover off of the unit itself. Is it necessary?

And yeah, Weeddemon... that was one of the best tips n tricks I've learned haha... changed the way I use the volcano for sure.

wake n blake,
VOLCANO IS AMAZING MACHINE BUT IT COMES NO WHERE NEAR THE WATERPROOF, DAMAGE PROOF, QUIET and CONVENIENT VAPOR BROS.

I LEFT THIS COMMENT TO THE VAPORBROS COMPANY:
I've used my vapor bros hands free for years. It has been used multiple
times daily, been left on for days at a time (by accident of course), been
left outside in the rain twice and in the snow once. The lights diminished
after the being on for hours during one of these storms. It has only 1 leg
left after being dropped and thrown around countless times. But this machine still runs strong. Thank you all so much for reading this and creating this fantastic product. It is by far the
meanest product I have ever known. Its an animal.

Modnote: Before you post again please read the forum rules very carefully. You will receive no more warnings.

Why would you feel compelled to come into a thread about a specific vaporizer to pitch another one against it when it is totally out of context?

Maybe he thinks he's doing us a favor? Like running into a Bentley dealership and yelling "the Mazda Miata has a tighter turning radius!"

I really regret never having experimented with the concentrate pad N herbals technique. Does it really appreciably better the experience?
