Vleaf Go: on-demand convection herb vaporizer!

So, I was a tester (as were many others) for Vivant with the GO and as far as I know Stephen20 still works for a 20% discount (and yes, all testers got a code AFIK and no, this has no financial ties to the tester whose code is used...use any of them, macht nichts.

So, I got another from a retailer I have good relationships with (way to go Vape Parts Mart) and gave it to a younger fella (well, he's 37 but I'm 67 so yeah....younger haha). I have hooked him up with Dyna VC, he bought a Solo, and he now has my old Volcano Digit.

He LOVES the Go for what it is...a great vape to take fishing, hunting, hiking, or just small loads of full convection at home.

IMO, Vivant has hit it out of the park with the GO as a family friendly or economical vape.

Only real complaint (aside from screen which we have talked about quite a bit) is battery life. But, I can get three loads out of a battery which ain't bad when out fishing. haha

taste is ok, still trying to figure out best way to load the bowl.

To some extent, you're in control of taste. You have to keep it clean and put good herb in of course, but there's only so much 'light stuff' (where the taste is) in herb. If you hit it hard, lots of hot air, that strips the taste out quickly for sure, sip at it and you can get better taste through more hits. Your choice.

FWIW the best way I've found to load it is using one of these scoops:
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07W8WHHKY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They are a standard size, the "smidgen". Half a pinch, 1/32 of a teaspoon? I bought ten for a couple dollars.

These funnels do a great job of getting it all in (stand the Go on end if you only have two hands):
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XNW6BPM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I made a much more convenient version by cutting a round hole in the rubber MP cover I never use, so I only need one hand now..... A poke or two with a stick (bamboo skewer in my case) gets all the herb well below the lip. I even glued a piece on the end of the scoop handle.

All this is in the old FC (I'm not good at keeping secrets.....), long as that was ago.

Anyway the scoop (level) loads the idea amount for me, maybe 15 scoops to the gram?

Regards to all.

i feel i am reaching for this less and less (at home) because of all the debris that falls into the cap, then you gotta blow it out and it gets the avb everywhere!

Maybe a full mesh screen around the replaceable cap thingy to not let debris build up in there

its great for on the go cuz idgaf where I blow the contents to

My use pattern has been low key with the Go lately, mostly sipping a surprising number of tasty hits per chamber. Last night we had the bubbler out and the Go certainly was able to deliver much more decisively when called upon!

Are you talking about the small amount that can get stuck on the screen when you take the cap off? I do tend to touch that once with a finger an gently blow it off.

I get some little crumbs in there, usually un-vaped flower due to sloppy filling maybe, but I'm thinking about why you have abv getting into the inside of the cap.

In my understanding, the chamber gets 'capped off' by the screen when the cap is installed; I think the screen (or silicone if one is using a mod screen) is supposed to make contact with the top of the bowl, effectively leaving no opening for material or vapor to escape except up through the screen via the vapor path. In theory, your draw is pulling everything in that direction.

My thoughts about the issue you are having are; 1. possibly too fine a grind or over-filling, or both, letting material sneak through, 2. a defect in the silicone piece (length?) or cap itself that is preventing the screen from closing off the chamber. Maybe compare the silicone piece to the spare that came in the box?

Of these, I suspect over-filling, which lets your material get lodged between the screen and rim of chamber, preventing a good seal.

Well guys, hope you're happy! I haven't bought a new vape in over a year, tbh I'm pretty much set up with all I need. But I was expecting some kind of grasshoper to appear with decent CS and that you don't have to RMA randomly, some small, on demand, convection vape. Seems like this the one, so I just ordered one to keep in my pocket anytime I go out of home.

Yes the abv is getting stuck to the screen side, when u go to remove it, it falls into the cap non intentionally, it just doesnt need the open space there to allow the abv to fall into the cap

If the moisture of your herb is not the issue, try not to overload the bowl, I know it’s tempting. Experiment with LESS. I then push the herb down GENTLY making sure the top of the herb load is just below the shiny metal top of the load chamber. If like me and others, no matter what you do, there will be always be some herb bits in the screen, as your inhalation sucks the “sticky” herb UP, right into the screen. That’s why a bit of a tamper down, and less herb volume keeps it under control. All I ever need to do is lightly brush the little screen off of the few bits, then I blow into the MP in both directions. When you brush, be careful not to push the silicone shaft that holds the screen, or just take it out to do a full occasional clean, it’s just a pressure fit. The space around it is hollow, to add cooling, not much, and save on unneeded materials in the production, stuff adds up.

Anyways, that’s so far what’s been working for ME. Good luck. 👍

That is the thing, you have to "brush" it, then blowing into the mouthpiece in both directions just like you said.

Do you have a bag your blowing the cap into, cuz 1 way its easy to discharge the debris, the other way - not the way you put your mouth on - blowing debris has no clear escape path and gets blown around everywhere.

It would be better if there was a screen so debris is not constantly falling into the cap, like I said this is detrimental for my use at home, i dont like to get debris everywhere, but outside blowing the debris everywhere is fine, just not for me indoors.

I only mentioned blowing in it as an OCD thing, “IF” you tried any and all of the tips I spent time writing about, there is nothing that comes out when I blow, and don’t really need to. Good luck, at least they are cheap if you don’t like em....

I experimented and kinda find packing it super loose to about 75-80% works best for me, i am doing medium grind through a santa cruz shredder.

Think of this way, I use this in conjunction with the elev8r and 3 other dynavaps, this is the only vape that I cant control debris upon discharge.

Yes maybe its technique or grind, but the engineered design of the part allows this to happen.

I would like them to implement a pokayoke design. (I work in mfg) This feature would encourage me to use it more often indoors.

This vape works pretty well. It does have its quirks. For me it’s the screen (DDaves is an improvement) and the short air path. I use it as my “chuck it vape.” If I’m out and about and have to chuck it...who cares.
Does the ddave screen not fix your issue then?

Put the Go to the test yesterday.

-3 Hour drive, three packings, one charge after the 2nd, just cause I knew I had time. All yellow. Stirring and screen cleaning necessary but I had time.

-Got home, put it with a water pipe. 2 back to back packings. Red for both. Again, stirring and screen cleaning necessary but not a problem.

-Took a bike ride late evening and finished another packing on yellow. Couldn’t stir on the ride but was able to pull three nice ones before the screen got clogged.

Still impressed with what this $69 vape is doing for me.
Is stirring important to make sure the screen doesn't get clogged? I used to stir, now I just pack a lot less than I used to. But I use a minivap/newvape.

There's always an optimal load size to figure out. Once you get it, things are better. I've stopped over packing my current vape. I still can, just found it wasn't actually necessary.

I think that's a fair enough thing to say about conduction vapes (sometimes including grind), but this is a convection vape.....different rules? Firm contact is no longer a good thing, rather 'free flow' of the heated air.

Unlike typical vapes, very tiny loads can work quite well with only modest fine tuning your technique. A very positive ability, IMO. And since you don't have to heat up a furnace body and wait for the 'heat soak' you can get vapor in not too many seconds, not a minute or more for anemic vapor to get there.

Powerful machine for good, and at an attractive price as well.

Regards to all.

K I would like to know how you guys are using your vleaf

How am I using mine? Pretty much 'all the time'. Half a dozen or more times a day.

I generally exhaust each load in one sitting. Mind the load can be small or large. Average loads (say 15 to the gram) go in five or so hits if I'm using a WT and mean business. This means stirring once or twice and uses 200mAh or so of the battery. More leisurely 'sipping sessions' don't necessarily get stirred, but take longer (more hits, mostly from cold) and use almost twice the total power since so much reheating is needed. Probably averaging 350mAh.

Much smaller loads, more than 30 to the gram, also work well. But again I'll exhaust each load, clean and reload the Go (charging as needed) for next time.

For 'a hit or two at a time' I use other (conduction) vapes. FWIW.

Regards to all.

I rarely load in less-than-full chambers, though I don't pack very tightly, and not above the metal chamber rim.
80+% of the time, I use Green temp setting, sometimes higher to finish but I back off on those earlier so as not to get charring.
I'm using D-dave screen alternative.
I'll finish in one sitting or stretch it out, just a hit now and then over the course of some gardening. Dry or water tool, dealer's choice.

One behavior I do follow all the time; Back off (release) the fire button as I feel the vapor get heavier. I think the Go is not strong enough in the "regulation" department to be trusted with power on at any of the 3 settings for a slow (oh, yeah usually sip it, not rip it too hard), extended draw time. It is possible to get that "almost combusted" taste/color, etc, even on Green, so that little bit of human touch (feeling when to click it off) can make all the difference. You can always click it back on for a few secs.! Drawing after the heater is off also helps clear the device of vapor and cool things down a little.

K I would like to know how you guys are using your vleaf

do you do long hits like 10-20secs?

or lil <5 sec sips here and there?

The convection oven can cause the material to combust when the hit is too hard and too long. To avoid this, medium length, and gentle inhale works best.
- I use only with a medium size clear glass bong through water. I'm not interested in using it natively, the vapor is too hot for me. I'm likely an outlier in this regard since the Go is a portable.
- Most days I consume just a pinch of flower. Occasionally I fill it almost to the top of the chamber for use over an evening. Packing doesn't matter much, but avoid tight packing, since this can produce combustion. I don't use a grinder, and use my fingers to create a medium grind.
- Pay attention to the red glow from the two side vents. Once it glows red, time to toke. When it takes too long to turn red, or the glow isn't bright, time to recharge. Observing the glow provides more useful information than the LED's. This only works in low light.
-I have a second Go, and keep one charged at all times. When the battery is low on the first Go, I switch to the second. Occasionally I've had to switch material mid session, the battery can deplete rapidly. It's not a problem to transfer from one Go to another since the scoop is built in.
-I rarely use alcohol to clean it. A quick brushing works fine. It's advised to occationally remove the oven, open it and blow out material that gets stuck.
-I have the DDave screen mod but don't need it. Since I've been paying close attention to how the cap is removed and replaced, the screen hasn't been falling off. Also, I don't fill the bowl to the rim. But I'm not certain why the screen has been staying on.
-Stirring the material does little if anything. It can result in perhaps one additional thin toke.
-Green setting is fine most of the time. Occationally I finish off with red.

For my needs it's all about efficient micro-dosing. I hope that Vivant stays on course with this modular design.

I almost gave up on the VLeaf Go. Initial impressions were positive - lots of vapor, almost instant heat up, etc... I found the performance degrading slowly, to the point that I no longer felt the Go was worth keeping in rotation. I decided to give it one last go, filling the bowl to about 75% capacity and leaving it very loosely packed. The battery died during the first draw, so I popped it on the charger. I pulled it right off of the charger and took a long, slow draw - instant vapor, huge cloud. I finished the bowl and was very satisfied with the vape's performance. Since then I have been able to reproduce the great results, but a fully charged battery is a must for me. Considering the size and cost of this vape, and the convection heating, I feel that the battery will be the weak point of this vape. For me a fully charged battery will be reduced to yellow in about 1 or 2 sessions. Keeping the battery fully charged has allowed me to discover the value point in this vape. I think that in the long run the battery in this vape may give out before the heater or the electronics do, but at $70 it is worth the cost.

ok ive changed completely the way i use this thing,

before i would hold button down for about 15-20 seconds with constant draw.... get huge clouds

now i heat for 5-10 secs, sip, reheat 5 secs sip repeat.....i do not inhale when button is pressed

Just got my Go a few days ago and have been pretty much using exclusively for testing sake. I've got to say this is my new running around vape.

Cheap, high performance, decent taste, good cloud production, discretion and ease of use really make this an excellent value imo.

A little hot on the lips at times (even on green) but if you adjust the location of the draw through your mouth you can minimize the effects on your lips (hard to explain, but keep the hot stream to your throat, not in your mouth - draw intensity and speed can control this).

A better cooling system and a replaceable battery (I'm gettin about 4-5 microdose bowls before performance drops off - which is fine for my needs) would make this a REALLY good vape.

I've mainly been using on green and notice lots of heat, takes a little longer to brown the load but it maintains very nice terpy tastes. I tend to sip this one at low temps and savour the flavour, which is better than I was expecting with this vape, very pleasurable. After a few bowls the performance drops off a bit and I up the temp to brown for a couple rips. I haven't tried it on red yet.

It's very nice to bring out and about because it just looks like one of them fandangled electronic cigarettes, there's no glass, and it's a closed system. All I need to bring with me is the Go and a small stash. Before the Go, this spot on the roster was filled by my dynavap, which I now notice is not discreet at all (kinda anti-discreet) in comparison. It's still cool, but the full convection, discreet vape pen Go really makes microdosing flower on the go effortless and care-free.

Now I just hope the thing lasts.

It won’t. Unfortunately, as is the case with any NON-replaceable lithium battery device. The best of these batteries get 300-500 charge cycles. With some devices, users can sometimes figure a way to open and replace them. One of the reasons the device is inexpensive. Enjoy em while they last.

With other vapes in the rotation, I charge the Go maybe once a day on average, so if I can get 400-500 days out of a $56 vape, that's fine with me!
