I bought an aluminum VG a couple years back. It is the superior choice IMO because you can soak it in isopropyl alcohol to clean it to its like-new condition. With the wood VG you cannot soak it in alcohol because it would ruin the wood.

Hello everybody.

First of all, sorry for my bad English, but I'm French.

So, I want to know some things concerning the VaporGenie.

In fact, I'm 18 right now, and I've been smoking cigarettes and w**d for 2 years.
I wanna try vapes now, as I'm annoyed of all these non-healthy things contained in cigarettes.

Why the VaporGenie ? Because I like the fact that it looks like a pipe, and I don't want to use an electronic thing, or something looking like a Talkie Walkie.

So, the question is :
Is there a real difference between the original VG and the aluminum one ?
(I don't want to try the coil, because of its design)

There's two aluminum models besides the coil, that do function differently.
There's the aluminum bat, and the almunim version of the classic VG pipe.

The pipe is $20 more and IMO the bat is easier to use because you can see the intake hole the flame is entering. However, you can't really use a torch (blue flame) lighter with the aluminum bat, and that is quite an effective way of using the VG.

The difference between the aluminum pipe ($60 one) and the classic wooden VG is that the bottom body can be soaked/cleaned in isopropyl alcohol to make cleaning a breeze PLUS you can evaporate the alcohol and make hash if want to.

For a beginner, I'd say the classic. The coil is great for bubblers or hiking. But if it's your first rodeo, then I'd lean towards the classic model.

^^^^ Hiya Dr. Nick. As an avid Vaporgenie enthusiast, if I had to choose 1 VG, I would without a doubt go with the standard aluminum pipe.

Once again, I'll go with Stu. As a first effort I think the wood body is a big plus. Metal bodies, especially the bats make them more demanding on technique. The basic system is the same (same ceramic element, similar bowls) but the metal body changes things some I think. For that reason I'd recommend the classic model or perhaps the hand carved version as they have wooden handles if you will. I think they make a better choice as a transition piece to vaping. As the user gains skill, other models might be more fun or serve better, but he basic VG (even if hard to clean) is the call I think.

You're welcome. Funny looking but easy to learn. I'm sure you'll be happy with it. Consider getting a flame lighter, lots of guys find them easier to use.

Just cracked out a new Oak VG Classic. Really loving the whole old-school pipe aesthetic and feel - makes one feel somewhat civilised.
Very easy to use - a little easier then the coil imo - and am using with a normal lighter with no hassles what so ever.
I think your in safe hands with the Classic Dr. Nick

I've only used the handcarved and classic(handcarved is my own, friend has a classic). cleaning isn't that hard, most stuff collects under the screen. with a metal stick/rod(I use the things that come from an electric flyswapper) you can scrape most out pretty easily, I think it takes me 15 minutes or so. isn't clean as when new, but clean enough.
the rough kind of pipe cleaners, the ones also sold at the VG website, make it even easier. but all of those I had are used now.

Only downsides are price and fragility.

The glass one will arguably be the easiest to learn because you can see the vapor production before your eyes. The "glass bat" is cheaper and the newer design, but the glass sherlock is very comfortable and nice to use.

If you're prone to clumsiness, you might want to stick with aluminum/wood, but glass rules if you aren't.

If you look at the disassembled picture on their website, everything comes out.
Just like the metal ones, it can be 100% soaked in isopropyl alcohol for super easy cleaning.

In my opinion, at $65 its a steal. Definitely worth the extra $5 over a classic (unless you often drop things when you get high )

I think most anyone who has hit the glass sherlock (glass head or not) would agree that it is superior in the taste category of all of the VGs. The durability and portability is the issue for some.

Hi Dr.Nick, i have the stainless coil, the original and i had the glass vg bat.
The glass vg bat was the best as far as i m concerned. Better taste, easy to use, easy to clean but it was very hot after only one shot. The little stainless door was too hot after so i had to wait few seconds to reload. But as all glass vaporizers, it's breakable....And mine is broken....

The stainless coil is a good alternative. It's not breakable, it's not expensive but the taste isn't as good than the glass vg bat.
With a water bong, it's veryvery nice...

The original is nice too but you can't clean it with alcool...

My coil fits both 18mm and 14mm. The seal isn't perfect of course, but it works perfectly well as is.

I've not played with the thicker coil, but it would seem to me that it would be a poorer seal due to the thicker gauge.

I didnt know that the coil came in more than one gauge. Did I miss something?

And if you want vids of the coil/bong setup I think there are a few stashed in this thread. I know I made one a while back - SSVG Coil and a bong is awesomsauce.
