So I have had the VG glass bat for about a week or so. This vape will deliver the goods!!!
As it has been mentioned, it takes getting used to blasting a lighter towards yer grill....
The clouds are enormous!!! I have owned all of the other VGs and this one is the best by
far for me. The bat has a moveable stainless door that slides open for loading... then it
slides closed for use. Just under 5.5 inches long, clean tasting, etc. like all the rest of the
VG family. It just fits into the storage sleeve for TV batteries. Nice shatterproof case.
It does not stay hot for too long after use, and it seems to kick my ass in just a couple
pulls. Faster than the Supreme, hefty in the hand, feels more durable than the gn0me.
I am quite impressed with this latest edition. Buy one! it is worth the price....

The only flaw I feel is the inner coil mouthpiece sticks out too far and gets hot, that part is not insulated, and sometimes it gets bong residue stuck to it when I use it with glass. I'm wanting to snip that part off, I wouldn't mind it being a tad shorter. What do you guys think about this idea?

Why not try to re-position the filter up to its normal position and the screw-in the inner mouth tube so it's level with the outer tube or at least reduced a lot.

Both inner coils, the one retaining the ceramic and the bowl, are the same diameter. If I twist the mouthpiece more up into the coil it either a) pushes the ceramic up further toward the flame intake, keeping the distance from the ceramic to the bowl exactly the same, or b) threads awkwardly and makes gaps in the outer coil right where the herbs are sitting (kind of flimsy there). I think I'm going to have to snip it.

All in all, for $20 you cannot find a better vaporizer anywhere! I really do enjoy the coil, I use it more than the walnut VG.

oh yeah I forgot c) the inner coils are the same diameter. I can adjust the protruding mouthpiece until its flush with the outer coil, but when I load a bowl and screw the top part back on it just pushes the end back out to where it was.

That's odd...after "adjustment...Mine stays where I put it...& doesn't stick out at all. I'd play w/tweeking for a while it before cutting anything! I wasn't sure about mine at 1st. But w/time & after taking it apart & re-assembling it a few times & after the "Learning curve" & 5months later...I cant see how you can get a better un-killable portable vape!

Here is a link to the VG page about it VG Maintenance.

It basically says you shouldn't have to clean it if you use your VG properly.

...Kinda what I thought! & I always use torch w/it so no real need I guess!
But, a friend trying it...combusted! & now it has that "taste", that I haven't tasted in ages. And I wanna be sure it's ALL gone! YUCKY! lol

Also, in thinking about adjusting VG coil...
I didn't move the ceramic piece as much as I did the screen...higher in the bowl/closer to the ceramic. Just a Thought!

Waiting for the coil in the mail. Cant go wrong as backup for $20.

While I wait:

1. What airplane carry-on friendly lighters would you recommend? Got this mainly to take on trips due to full clean capability. Dont want the "flint" dust from bics/zippos as described in the vg homepage. Also cant take torch lighters on plane, TSA says it only allows common (non torch) lighters.

2. I currently use my NO2 when I do a sit-down session, or do the MFLB on stealth or on the move. Any tips (compare/contrast with N02 MFLB) for good taste, low temp, no harsh, cool hits from the coil would be greatly appreciated.

Hello andee145. Good call on the VG Coil. A steal at that price.

1. As to what light to use: I prefer torch lights, but if that's not an option then any lighter with an electric ignition will do - even a $2 jobbie is fine.

2. The best way to get cool hits from the Coil is to use water. Due to it's stem design it will slip into a 14 or 18 GonG joint with no adaptor (or it would be very simple to hook up to a small water bottle with a few centimetres of tubing)

A few tips taken from a previous post I made:

Loading: Using a medium fine grind I find is best. Not as fine as the MFLB. Only fill the 'cup' up about 3/4. When you put the top section back on give it 2 quick twist to make it screw in a bit more securely and to bring the filter down a bit closer to the herb.

Lighting: Micro torch or jet flame lighter, otherwise an electric ignition to avoid soot. When hitting, the tip of the flame corola (? the ghost flame) should be level with the opening, not inside. Your draw speed is very important. Try a softer pull to begin with. You should get visible vapor on the second pull, the first is warming-up the area around the herb. Don't forget to move the flame around a bit to get an even browning.

It takes a bit of practice, especially if your new to flame powered vapes. Once you get it though it's consistent and satisfying imo

Good review man, I've always wanted the glass bat and you just made the hankering worse. I'm just waiting for a sale or another retailer with a discount code, at 65 it just seems a bit high.

Just now ordered me a Thin SS Coil. Love my Incognito but really nervous about driving around town with it. Def going to user it on the trip to Miami but figured for around town i need a smaller one. Next will be a MFLB or a Vapor Tower for the house. Let you guys know what i think when it arrives.

itll be my portable for indoor gatherings where i do not have my MZ and stealth isnt a concern.

The learing curve is extremely eaggerated i feel. I havent combusted with it yet but have come real close. This isnt my first vaporizer though.

I think I am inhaling a decent amount of butane though. Any reports on this health wise? Does anyone know of a widely available lighter that burns better than cheap bics? I got a torch lighter with my order from puffitup but dont really like using it.

Unfortunately any non-torch lighter will have that taste. The torches burn at a much higher temp which I believe burns off those nasty butane tastes.

if you're using a bic lighter, and you start inhaling before letting that little plume of smoke float away when you first flick the bic, THAT is definitely confirmed unhealthy.

It also gunks up the heat source

You can avoid that all together AND avoid blue flame torches, if you really dont like them, by getting a piezo-electric candleflame lighter, "isobutane lighters", etc.

They're pretty cheap.

(Its what vaporgenie explicitly recommends)

It seems to me a BIG part of the learning curve w/the Coil is the lighter!!
And, I'm not sure you can apply all the usual VaporGenie "Lighter Rules" to their metal Genies & particularly (because I have one)...the coil!
It doesnt burn &/or melt or crack like some of their models & it's said that the ceramic sits back more than other models. So torches are way more of an option...
...I've had mine 6months. after reading many threads here about evil bics, I've avoided them all together.
I have tried beeswax wick, candle...& the 1st lighter I got, was an electric ignition flame type, but I tasted butane.
Then I tried a cheap ronson torch from Walmart. It's a single torch it's awkward & the flame isn't real hot unless you put it right upto the opening making combustion more of a possibility.
So then I tried a Fujima. This has 3 torch burners. And, though I don't like it's flip lid & that I cant see if it's full before going out...so far it's the best "heat" w/the genie!
I keep it set to low & keep it moving some. It seems like it's triple burner, heats the Coil evenly along the edges, w/out concentrating too much fire. Kinda like a gas stove!
Does that make sense?
I just WISH I could find that same burner set-up in a mini torch! Maybe even in that bent pipe style! Sooo...I'm STILL looking for that PERFECT lighter! lol

As to perfect lighters for the coil. I think any small torch will do. Preferably one with an angled head. A cheap and decent option might be something like this for $4.

I honestly don't find the Coil hard to use. I have never used a Classic or bat so maybe I wasn't stuck trying to use the same technique as you would with those. I think I'm going to do a vid tomorrow on use of the Coil.

Bics work...it's not that!
It's about Carbon, Flint Dust, Lead and incompletely burned butane inhaled!
Assuming we vape to be a bit healthier, getting bad things from my lighter seems to be defeating the purpose...that's all!

Well it came today. It was funny dad picked it up and LOL. Love that it was very discreet shipping.

After i got it i went down to the store and got a Clipper brand lighter that has a Racetrac sticker on it, its a click electric lighter that was affordable for now i got 2 for $1.29 so it was great for on the fly.

So my first vapes weren't that great, i think it was the MW 2011 was kinda ehhh. Just got some Abusive OG and it seem to work way better! My boy even is looking in to getting one.

So my view for the price and how small it its i give it 5 stars. It's good to see that people can still be creative when making a vape. Great job VG.

I only use flint lighters. As stated, the plume of dust that floats away is the dangerous crap, not the butane. Tasting butane is usually the result of gaps in the bowl or when the herb falls to one side, leaving open screen.

my oldest is now over a year and a half old and still functioning perfectly.
I recommend getting multple tough, the flame can be set very tall but works best with the VG on a low setting. but the metal part gets hot pretty quickly, and once it gets hot you need to set the flame higher to get a flame that doesn't go out. so I have 3 wich I rotate, wich works well.

I also sold some to friends but theirs al broke or went missing, one friend recently showed me his, with wich he tried melting a coin so he kept it lit way too long on a high flame, getting it really hot, and the button came off and you can see on the gap there that the plastic is melted a little. but he still uses it to light joints

so I would say get at least 2, 3 is perfect, they're dirtcheap anyway(and you also get them at a lower price if you buy 3)

One of the main reasons I only use a micro-torch with my coil is because of the dirtiness of bics and other yellow flamers.

Not only the 'flint dust' issue but after repeated use, the inner coils of the pipe get heavily covered in black soot and the stone starts to yellow. Yes, it is all cleanable and not that difficult, but it can be more of a PITA I would rather not deal with if it can be avoided (Hence my choice for the torch)
