Please DO note, folks... that I did buy the lighter at a local head shop... same as the one from DX.
As OF says... it is a great lighter/torch for VG use.
I loved it.
I am just not certain about buying it from DX!
Yeah but takes longer IME.Are good clouds achievable with a standard bic in the VG? If using a torch, which vape seems to be the best for giving off huge rips. Lotus?
I really need to get myself a decent torch just to see what I'm missing. I keep thinking about it, and then I use my VG with a bic and it works so well I forget that I wanted to get a torch for it...
Longer heat time and soot I can deal with, and Flint dust and butane don't worry me.
I actually prefer a torch specifically with the coil since its hard to get the herb very roasted in it without. Unless I have a J-Hook.
Will be releasing new Nimbin info soon. Been having some camera issues but you won't be using a soft flame on the nimbin it takes too long to heat up.
Same issue with the Coil I think, too hard to keep the heat on the right place (total heat is the same for either flame or torch, only more concentrated for the latter). Only in the Coil, that 'wasted heat' is playing on the SS body, woe be unto the chap trying to hold it too long.......
OF
It is a whole lot more but will require even more stirring since its convection and doesn't spread evenly throughout the entire bowl. But the nimbin is hard to connect to a waterpipe without an underdog glass on glass stem.Coil payment didn't work for some reason (new broadband cable service being buried playing havok with the net) might be a sign. Might order an Original VG first and a torch to play around.
Then later on a coil or nimbin for the form factor and bong-a-bility! I read somewhere the nimbin can comfortably hold .3? Significantly more than the VG I'd imagine?
I bought a coil for exactly the same reason @derrrp its very robust, small, works well and is cheap. I agree with @OF a torch lighter is preferable with the coil although in a tight spot a bic does work, albeit not quite as effortlessly.
I can't believe the VG family evaded me for so long. I can already feel the call of a hand carved.... Should probably wait until I have somewhere to live first, priorities Dave, priorities.
I gotta take back what I said about the bic working better. When I used a torch with it the first time i guess the torch it wasn't working right, because I just recently tried again with another torch and it worked great! I had stopped using the bic because the flame filter got alot of soot on it to the point where it was barely even hitting. Looks like I'll be using a torch from now on. I should have listened to the vapor genie O Geez but I had to be stubborn and see for myself. Moral of the story if you got a vg, please don't use a bic. Get yourself a decent torch. Your vapor genie will thank you for itI just got my walnut hand carved vg abour a month ago, and I love it ! I've been too busy using it to post about it! I've found that a regular soft flame bic lighter works best for me. My torch seems to unevenly cook the middle of the load and just doesn't give as big hits as the bic. My only complaint is that I wish the bowl was a lil bit bigger. It took a little getting used to at first I combusted trying to heat it up for too long, but it didn't take me long to master the technique. I get about 4 or 5 good hits packing the bowl with about .3 grams. The first hit is very flavorful but thin and almost invisible unless you can heat it up enough to get thick vapor without burning which takes practice. You gotta know just how long you can keep hitting before you need to remove the flame. I've been thinking about buying a pax 2 because it seems to be more efficient and convenient. Has anyone out there tried both, so they could make a comparison?
