Not so your liver, it's pretty rough on it. Many of us recommend Single Malt for assaults on the liver.....

IMO, while Acetone is a useful solvent, best left in the can unless absolutely necessary. Here it's not. I sure would not recommend buying a can, using a few tablespoons and having the rest around. Even if you have a paint locker to store it. There are, I think, much better alternatives in most cases.

I thought it would evaporate pretty quick. For very bad cases, I wouldn't be afraid to dip in Acetone for a few minutes then cleaning the outside with a rag and the inside with a q-tip. I would wait about 24 hours before using it.

I can smell it on the wood when it's still there and then later I can't smell it at all.

But here's my catch-phrase: to each his own...

No, and neither should you. It's evaporating is exactly the issue in some cases, breathing the vapor is an uptake route. You normally make small amounts of the stuff, anyway, which is already tough on liver (and IIRC kidneys?). And it's a serious fire hazard. "Fire in the paint locker" kind of stuff. A small can in a garage fire is a huge thing to Fire Fighters, like a can of gasoline.

I also recall from the safety classes that while most people can smell it at low levels, it's one of those that some folks can't smell at all well.

It's also not easy to dispose of safely/properly. While a fraction of it probably makes it's way back to recycling centers, most is probably flushed down the drain or left to evaporate (basically the same thing)?

I get it there are lots of 'takes' on such toxics, but avoiding this very sort of chemical is the binding theme of this Forum. As long as there are alternatives, I suggest avoiding it for this use.

What do you propose be used instead? Some people use Vodka or Moonshine for such things.

Ethanol has an advantage in waste disposal..... I'm told enough reclaim stops hangovers?

If you don't drink, denatured Ethanol (like from the paint department) does the same for less money. For wiping, ISO makes sense to me since it evaporates slower.

But in general I try to avoid the whole area. Wiping stuff down while still hot with cloth or paper towels keeps lots of it in check, and I wash in detergents (like PBW) when I can. IMO much easier and cheaper that way, and it's cool to flush it away after.

Excellent policy, IMO. I learned it washing dishes early on. As children, we were dishwashers long before we saw Maytag and Kitchen Aid horn in on that little chore of life. No doubt those who grew up with the common appliance (or otherwise avoided 'dish pan hands') have to learn the lesson some other way?

I agree, it's so important to clean up after every bowl. It makes much lighter work of things. I keep a small piece of cloth for that purpose in my egg - which also prevents the egg-rattle.

For those without a piece of cloth in their egg - another top tip I read/heard somewhere to prevent the said rattle - is to invert the funnel before closing the egg - so that it's not flush with the contours of the base - that works a treat too.

The reason I asked about the lighters a few pages back is because out of three ordered one didn't work from the go, one stopped working yesterday and one is working still... but they all seemed a bit finicky.

Is it me and my friends who are doing it wrong?

Beats me, I can't see it from here.....

Perhaps there's a button lock on it? A safety. I have a bunch that have that feature involving a knurled ring just under the button?? CCW turns it off IIRC.

Oh right! The Vapman lighter has a little plastic bracket that fits right on the button that works like a story. You have to pull it off or the button won't go down.

I couldn't see it at first.

At first I was like, "What?" and then, "Oh duh!"

Hey buddy! I don't know if it was the lighting but that looked like a really nice hit! Would you say the Vapman can hit as nice as the Lotus? Maybe the Crafty as well? How does it compare taste-wise?

The vapman can hit hard! In that clip I also had all side holes plugged, which makes for a very thick hit. However, the hit maybe dense, but its over in 5 sec.....with lotus or specially crafty, you can take a 30 sec milk hit, continuously pumping vapour. Vapman can milk thicker, but only for a short hit...taste wise, its challenging to get a very thick hit that also has low temp vapman flavour. A huge hit like that still tastes great, but not as great as a lotus or crafty rip....Hope that helped.

I've been using bHO wax in my vapman since i received the concentrate sieves with great success. It's slower then dabbing taking me 6-10 hits to finish a half of a 'BB' size piece of wax but the results are great. I experience a lot less coughing than with my only other oil vape the Maud-dib that does the same amount in one or two hits. Still i like it better with herbs though and myself wouldn't get a vapman if i was only going to do BHO in it.
